Andrade, Andréia de Carvalho;
Revista Brasileira de Enfermagem , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-71672007000100018
Abstract: it's an essay aiming to demystify nursing as a submissive profession. for doing so, a literature review on the profession history following its evolution up to the current practice was made. for some times, nursing and medicine went along in their historic development and nursing was featured in a dependence/ submission picture due to the lack of scientism in its practice. but a lot has changed and for a long time nursing has its practice based on the scientific knowledge, being the care delivery systematization the key of the scientism in the nursing care.

Abstract: The use of organic wastes, as an alternative to inorganic fertilizer, can be an important strategy for Brazilian and tropical agriculture. Despite the importance, few field studies have been done for evaluating organic amendments on soybean crops in Brazil. The study aimed to evaluate the residual effects of the organic amendments poultry litter, farmyard manure and biochar combined with mineral fertilizer on some agronomic attributes of a soybean crop. A field experiment was carried out in a split-split-plot scheme, with three replicates in a randomized block experimental design. The organic sources (plots) at rates of 0, 3, 6 and 9 Mg·ha-1 (subplots) combined with 0, 100, 200, 300 and 400 kg·ha-1 (sub subplots) of a mineral fertilizer were applied in 2008. In 2009, only the mineral fertilizer was used on the soybean crop. As a?result, all evaluated attributes were influenced by the treatments, except for the number of grains per pod. The application of poultry litter provided the highest yield (3715 kg·ha-1 using 9 Mg·ha-1 of the source). A synergistic effect between organic amendments and mineral fertilizer was observed. It was found the possibility of decrease doses of mineral fertilizers by prior use of organic amendments. The most effective dose combination application is 5.5 Mg·ha-1 of organic amendments associated with 200 kg·ha-1 of mineral fertilizer to provide optimum yield. The use of organic amendments, rich in nutrients, is a technology to sustainably increase the soybean grain yield.

Open Journal of Nursing (OJN) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/ojn.2016.67053
Abstract: The objective was to identify the most frequent nursing diagnoses labels in patients with liver cirrhosis in use of feeding tube. A descriptive research was carried out in a Brazilian Hospital with 20 adult patients. Systematic data collection utilized the Conceptual Model of Wanda Horta, the first nurse to introduce the concept of Nursing Process in Brazil. The six phases of the nursing diagnostic reasoning proposed by Risner were used; nursing diagnoses were described according to NANDA-I taxonomy II. Patients were mainly male; half of them were middle age adults; they had an average of 12.8 nursing diagnoses labels; and the most frequent were: risk for aspiration and risk for infection. Nurses needed to develop effective skills to properly diagnose in order to provide safe care and improve patient outcomes.

Abstract: a simple and didactic experiment was developed for image monitoring of the browning of fruit tissues caused by the enzyme polyphenol oxidase. the procedure, easy and inexpensive, is a valuable tool to teach and demonstrate the redox reaction between the enzyme and the natural polyphenols. to obtain the browning percentage for apple, pear and banana, digital photographs were employed, and the images were analyzed by means of monte carlo methods and digital analysis programs. the effects of several experimental conditions were studied, such as ph, light, temperature and the presence of oxygen or anti-oxidants. it was observed that each fruit presented a different condition that better minimized the oxidation process. the absence of oxygen and the application of a bissulphite solution were sufficient to keep the quality of all fruits tested.
