Partelli, Fábio Luiz;Vieira, Henrique Duarte;Santiago, Anderson Ribeiro;Barroso, Deborah Guerra;
Pesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-204X2006000600008
Abstract: the objective of this work was to evaluate the production and root and shoot development of plants of 'conilon' coffee, grown from seeds and branches, in vila valério, es, brazil. the experiment was performed in randomized complete block design, with two treatments (seedlings originated from seeds and branches), and 12 replicates with five plants per plot. shoot growth evaluation was performed seven months after planting. six pruning of the orthotropic branches and five yields were evaluated. the evaluation of the root system was done 52 months after planting in four depths (0-10, 10-20, 20-40 and 40-60 cm). diameter, length and superficial area of roots were quantified. plants grown from cuttings produced more plagiotropic branches, during the first seven months, and less orthotropic branches throughout the experimental period. there were no differences either in length or superficial area of roots from plants propagated by seeds or cuttings. there was a greater concentration of fine roots in the superficial layers of the soil. the productivity of plants grown from cuttings is higher than that observed in plants grown from seeds.

Abstract: the rehabilitation and use of areas affected by salt excess require to evaluate how plant species respond to salinity. the objective of this work was to evaluate increasing nacl concentrations on stem and root biometric characteristics of eucalyptus camaldulensis, e. tereticornis, e. pellita and e. robusta seedlings. the experiment was carried out in a greenhouse using containers with 11.5 l of sand irrigated with nutrient solution. the experiment was arranged in a complete randomized and factorial design with the four species and increasing levels of nacl (1.41; 2.50; 4.50; 6.45; e 8.33 ds.m-1), with five replications. the evaluated biometric characteristics were dry mass, length and diameter of the stems and root systems of the seedlings. the increase in salt level up to 8.33 ds.m-1 electric conductivity did not impair the initial growth of e. tereticornis seedlings but decreased dry mass of thick roots. increasing salt levels reduced growth of e. camaldulensis, e. pellita and e. robusta seedlings. in the initial growth phase, seedlings of e. tereticornis showed resistance to salinity up to 8.33 ds.m-1. length and root areas of the four studied species showed no response to increasing salt levels.

Abstract: intercropping of eucalyptus and sesbania for the recovery of clay mining diggings can represent ecological and economic benefits. this work aimed to evaluate survival, initial growth and physiological characteristics of eucalyptus camaldulensis, e. tereticornis, e. robusta and e. pellita, monocropped and intercropped with sesbania virgata. two experiments (monocropping and intercropped) were set up in a clay mining digging, arranged in a randomized block design with 4 replicates. intercropping favored the survival of the species. eucalyptus monocropping presented a greater initial growth in soil level diameter and canopy area. the eucalyptus species responded to the effects of intercropping and pruning, along time, except for e. tereticornis.

Revista árvore , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-67622008000300002
Abstract: an alternative for environmental rehabilitation of areas degraded by clay extraction is reforestation with selected species and silvicultural practices to promote the establishment of stands. the objective of this study was the evaluation of the performance of eucalyptus camaldulensis dehen, e. pellita f. muel, e. tereticornis sm and e. robusta sm in pure stands and mixed with "sabiá" (mimosa caesalpiniifolia, benth). this study was carried out on a dug area of 1.5 ha, saline soil, with average depth of 1.5 m, in campos dos goytacazes,rj. the experiment was arranged in randomized blocks with four replications, in a factorial design with four eucalyptus species in pure stands and mixed with "sabiá". plant performance was evaluated in terms of survival percentage, height (h), ground level diameter (gld), breast height diameter (bhd), h/bhd ratio, surface area and fine root length ( 2mm). twenty-four months after planting, e. pellita was proven unsuitable for planting in dug areas. the planting system did not affect the growth of the eucalyptus species. however, the stands mixed with "sabiá" showed a negative effect on e. robusta survival. mixed planting of these two species is not indicated for the conditions of this experiment.
A história africana nas escolas brasileiras: entre o prescrito e o vivido, da legisla??o educacional aos olhares dos especialistas (1995-2006)
Oliva, Anderson Ribeiro;
História (S?o Paulo) , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-90742009000200007
Abstract: this article has as main intention to establish a dialogue between the brazilian legislation on the teaching of african history and the readings and opinions expressed by some africanists on the subject. therefore, we sought in the first part of the text mapping the presence of african studies in the national curricular parameters, in law 10639/03 and the guidelines formulated to allow its implementation. in the second part of our exercise was to the prospect of watching how historians, anthropologists and other experts examined the approach of african history in our school banks in the last ten years. the outcome of the dialogue shows that, despite indications found in the brazilian educational legislation, a long gap when it presents itself to be treated in classrooms involves african issues.
A História da áfrica nos bancos escolares: representa??es e imprecis?es na literatura didática
Oliva, Anderson Ribeiro;
Estudos Afro-Asiáticos , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-546X2003000300003
Abstract: the approval of the 10639/03 law, which made compulsory the teaching of african and african-descendants history, has brought some uneasiness and many questions to the academic sphere. how is it possible to teach something we do not know? besides this questioning, the law comes up with something that african history specialists have been warning us for a long time: we "forgot" to study the african continent. beginning from these facts, the article's objective is to analyze how the african history and the africans have been represented in the very few history books, made in brazil, in which the african theme is brought up in a specific chapter. the many critics and short complements towards these books, should not be interpreted as lack of consideration to the authors' work, but as an alert: we have to turn our attention to africa, considering its unquestionable relevance as a stage to human actions and because of the deep relations we have with that continent through the atlantic.
Sufficient conditions for existence of solutions to vectorial differential inclusions
Ana Cristina Barroso,Gisella Croce,Ana Ribeiro
Mathematics , 2011,
Abstract: In this paper we discuss the existence of solutions to vectorial differential inclusions. We investigate sufficient conditions for existence, more flexible than those available in the literature, so that important applications can be fitted in the theory. We also study some of these applications.

Marina Ciarlini,Anderson Ribeiro Correia
Journal of Transport Literature , 2011,
Abstract: A transport system project that takes into consideration the sustainable mobility concept requires long term planning and large amounts of capital. The problem is that the best configuration alternative is seldom an obvious choice. Politician, engineers, users, environmentalists and other groups of interest often have different needs and expectations. The main goal of this paper is the application of a multicriteria method in the analysis of rapid transit systems. The purpose of the use of the method and the criteria list, selected from various important papers in transportation, is to help choose the best alternative for a given system that will meet the needs of the different agents involved in the process, as well as to ensure long term sustainability. The method and list of criteria will be applied in a case study on a medium size Brazilian city.
