Caceres Cortez Ana Tereza
Ana Tereza Lemus Nelson.
Colombia Internacional , 2003,
Abstract: In this article the author argues that the scant existence of state agencies equipped to carry out legal actions in Brazil - described by Guillermo O’Donnell as the inoperance of accountability - is attributable to the weakness of the state of law in this country. The implications of a weak state of law for the quality and sustainability of democracy in Brazil are analyzed in two of the most grave cases of judicial impunity: racial discrimination and public security.

Desenvolvimento e Meio Ambiente , 2008,
Abstract: The present article analyzes the theoretical construction of the term Ecoformation to the extent of a French research and education experience for and in the environment. By framing Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s theory of the three masters – man, others, and things – and the human trinity individual/specie/society proposed by Morin, the Ecoformation Research group (GREF) offers original inputs for the constitution of a Environmental Pedagogy
Suda, Eneida Yuri;Coelho, Ana Tereza;
Fisioterapia e Pesquisa , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S1809-29502012000100015
Abstract: ankle instability is defined as the tendency of the ankle to "give way" and suffer recurrent sprains after a lateral ankle sprain. since the presence of instability is defined by means of subjects' complaints, it has a subjective characteristic it is important to identify the best assessment tool to determine its presence and/or severity. the purpose of this study was to systematically review assessment instruments designed for patients with chronic ankle instability. a computerized literature search was performed in the databases of pubmed, embase, vhl, lilacs and scielo to identify eligible instruments. five studies were included and presented five different instruments - foot and ankle disability index (fadi), ankle joint functional assessment tool (ajfat), foot and ankle ability measure (faam), ankle joint functional assessment tool (aii) e cumberland ankle instability tool (cait). there were instruments that can detect functional limitations in subjects with functional ankle instability but that are not reliable to detect this condition. there is still a need for further clinimetric studies in order to validate these tools to obtain an effective and complete evaluation of the functional instability of the ankle.
Envelhecimento, pobreza e prote o social na América Latina
Ana Amélia Camarano,Maria Tereza Pasinato
Papeles de población , 2007,
Abstract: Latin America′s elderly population is expected to grow fast within the next 40 years. This perspective is followed by some uncertainty about the capability of income generation byold people. The main objective of this paper isto analyze the processes of income generationby these people and speculate about their futuretrends. Six countries of the region were selected: Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Mexico and Peru. It is assumed that the main sources of income of elderly populationare Social Security Systems and labor markets. The importance of the social security benefitson elderly people and their families′ income isdescribed. Transformations in labor markethave resulted in a dramatic reduction of the proportion of the active population whichcontributes to social security. This suggeststhat the traditional ways to finance the systemwill not be enough to generate income for anincreasing demand of social benefits in thecontext of contributor′s reduction.
Phenological evaluation of three apple cultivars at Bom Retiro – SC, Brazil
Maria Tereza Bolzon Soster,Ana Frederica Latorre
Biotemas , 2007,
Abstract: This work was conducted in a single apple orchard, located in Bom Retiro, Santa Catarina, in order to make a phenological assessment of the Imperatriz, Imperial Gala and Fuji cultivars planted there and their relationships with the physical conditions provided by the orchard together with the pollination and fruit production taking place. Seven plants from each cultivar were selected at random for the purpose of measuring the average length of the stems that had achieved up to 1.5m in height from the level of the soil, the numbers of reproductive and vegetative stems, the lengths of the leaves, and the numbers of flowers which were classified according to their stage of development. The averages were compared by Tukey test (5%). The cultivar that was utilized for pollination (Imperatriz) showed early production, but the flowering coincided little with that of the other productive cultivars. However, these characteristics could have been greatly influenced by ambient conditions, considering this cultivar’s production history before its use as the pollinizing cultivar. For remedial purposes, techniques could be employed to synchronize the flowering, and appropriate management would be capable of increasing the populations of pollinating agents to help the effective fertilization.
Creative Industries in Brazil: Analysis of Specifics Cases for a Country in Development  [PDF]
Ana Flávia Machado, Bárbara Freitas Paglioto, Tereza Bruzzi de Carvalho
Theoretical Economics Letters (TEL) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/tel.2018.87087
Abstract: This paper aims to focus in a theoretical approach on the traits of the Brazilian CCIs. They are marked by various forms of inequality, but yet experience a high level of cultural diversity. For this reason, we analyze the sectorial development in respect to the creation of employment, income, emphasizing the actions and policies directed to both segments, through information provided by the Social Information Annual Report (RAIS)1 and the Brazilian Association of Digital Game Developers (Abragames). Also using data from the RAIS, we analyze the factors associated with the development of the fashion industry in the major cities. The analysis of these two sectors of the CCIs in a peripheral country sought to put in evidence the institutional differences, different configurations of companies’ size, average income, educational level and gender composition. However, those differences disregard spillover potential and cross-fertilization between the fashion and games and apps sectors.
Restriction-modification systems in Mycoplasma spp
Brocchi, Marcelo;Vasconcelos, Ana Tereza Ribeiro de;Zaha, Arnaldo;
Genetics and Molecular Biology , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1415-47572007000200011
Abstract: restriction and modification (r-m) systems are present in all mycoplasma species sequenced so far. the presence of these genes poses barriers to gene transfer and could protect the cell against phage infections. the number and types of r-m genes between different mycoplasma species are variable, which is characteristic of a polymorphism. the majority of the cdss code for type iii r-m systems and particularly for methyltransferase enzymes, which suggests that functions other than the protection against the invasion of heterologous dna may exist. a possible function of these enzymes could be the protection against the invasion of other but similar r-m systems. in mycoplasma hyopneumoniae strain j, three of the putative methyltransferase genes were clustered in a region forming a genomic island. many r-m cdss were mapped in the vicinity of transposable elements suggesting an association between these genes and reinforcing the idea of r-m systems as mobile selfish dna. also, many r-m genes present repeats within their coding sequences, indicating that their expression is under the control of phase variation mechanisms. altogether, these data suggest that r-m systems are a remarkable characteristic of mycoplasma species and are probably involved in the adaptation of these bacteria to different environmental conditions.
