Abstract: a decision modelling approach has been proposed to select modules of an information system (is). this approach can be applied in a planning stage or in a management basis. the decision maker's preference indicates priorities. preferences are modelled through promethee method, which deals with criteria such as: impact on strategic factors and operational aspects of processes. the paper includes the methodology and a case study with numerical results.

O modelo apresenta uma ordena o de módulos de sistemas de informa o a partir do estabelecimento de pesos e preferências sobre critérios pelo decisor. A abordagem pode ser aplicada num estágio de planejamento ou de gest o da informa o. A modelagem de preferência do decisor incorpora atributos como: impacto dos fatores estratégicos e aspectos operacionais dos processos de negócio. Multicriteria Model of Preventive Maintenance

Abstract: It is extremely important to guarantee that the performance levels required by productive systems can be maintained. As well, it is essential to assure the quality of process outputs. For this reason, preventative maintenance has become a very useful instrument to gain a competitive edge. In maintenance decisions, there are some contradictory criteria or points of view that are vital and must to be looked at simultaneously. Optimization approaches are not so useful in this situation, since usually no decision or solution exists which is the best from all points of view at the same time. So, in this context, the multicriteria decision aid (MCDA) approach is very important, allowing not only for the trade-off of multiple factors, but also taking in account the preference structure of the decision-maker with respect to these contradictory criteria. To address this issue, this article proposes a multicriteria decision aid model to support the decision-maker in the choice of times for preventative maintenance. The model preserves some important concepts from the classic models of component replacement and improves an existing multicriteria model, by taking criterion downtime into consideration, making a more appropriate treatment possible than the previous model for situations in cases where repair time cannot be ignored.

Abstract: Este artigo apresenta os resultados de uma investiga o acerca das práticas de gerenciamento da manuten o nas indústrias de manufatura de médio e grande porte da Regi o Metropolitana de Recife, nos diversos ramos de atividade. A pesquisa foi realizada por meio da aplica o in loco de um questionário que aborda quest es importantes do contexto da manuten o. As 50 indústrias entrevistadas foram selecionadas por meio de uma amostragem probabilística cuja estrutura foi extraída do cadastro da Federa o das Indústrias do Estado de Pernambuco (anos de 2005 e 2006). As entrevistas foram conduzidas durante o segundo e terceiro trimestres de 2007 e, dentre os resultados encontrados, pode-se afirmar que a manuten o mostrou algumas deficiências que podem ser amenizadas e até mesmo superadas por meio de uma maior aten o a esse setor. Além disso, pode-se destacar que grande parte das indústrias utiliza a experiência gerencial como ferramenta de análise em detrimento de técnicas analíticas mais eficientes para a solu o de problemas. Esse comportamento limita os resultados positivos que podem ser obtidos a partir de um tratamento adequado da manuten o. This article presents the results of a research study on maintenance management practices in medium and large manufacturing industries in the metropolitan area of Recife, in various branches of activity. The survey was carried out by means of in loco application of questionnaires addressing important issues dealing with the context of maintenance. The 50 industries surveyed were selected by probability sampling, where sampling framework was drawn from the records of the Federation of Industries of the State of Pernambuco, in 2005 and 2006. The interviews were conducted during the second and third quarters of 2007. Among the results, it is possible to state that maintenance has presented some shortcomings, which can be mitigated or even overcome through greater attention to the sector. Moreover, it is possible to note that most industries use experience as a management tool, at the expense of more efficient analytical techniques for solving problems. This behavior limits the positive results that can be obtained from an appropriate treatment to maintenance.

Abstract: this work presents a model to optimize information systems (is) organizational payoffs from new investments regarding the process of choosing which projects should be implemented. the paper starts with a wider process, which is is planning, in which organizational strategic and other technical aspects are considered. to evaluate these aspects, an additive value function taken from another published model is used, which is subsequently adapted to take into account different situations that may occur during the choice process. these adaptations will include the use of integer programming to achieve an optimal solution for this prioritization problem. at the end of the paper, the adapted model will be demonstrated in a case study where it will be possible to observe the different situations that motivated this new model.

Abstract: adequate methodologies for supporting the development of software have been the object of much research. identifying the perceptions of the people involved, both developers and users, is an important aspect of quality software construction. this paper presents a study aimed at identifying how information system developers and users perceive decision support systems. the survey was carried out with subjects from the society of computer science and telecommunications users (sucesu) and the society for the promotion of excellence in brazilian software (softex), in the state of pernambuco, brazil. the study contains both a descriptive and a factual data analysis with respect to the professional activity of the subject, in order to distinguish the most important characteristics of sad in each group under study. the result of this evaluation is that the chief factors to be considered in methodologies directed at the development of sad have been identified.

Abstract: Este trabalho apresenta um modelo para otimizar ganhos competitivos de uma organiza o advindos da implanta o de Sistemas de Informa o (SI), atuando em sua prioriza o. Este artigo aborda parte de um processo mais amplo, o planejamento de SI, em que ser o considerados aspectos estratégicos da organiza o e outros, relacionados à criticidade de processos que se associam aos Agrupamentos de Informa es. A considera o destes aspectos estratégicos, táticos e operacionais será valorada através de uma fun o de valor aditivo. Neste trabalho é feita alus o a um modelo publicado anteriormente, ao qual ser o acrescentadas mudan as na forma como é feita a escolha dos sistemas a serem priorizados, aplicando-se o uso de programa o inteira para obter uma ótima solu o para o problema de prioriza o. Ao final do trabalho é apresentado um estudo de caso ilustrando o uso do modelo, em que ele pode ser avaliado.
