Abstract: after almost 30 years since the creation of the psychiatric nursing concentration area in the graduate program of the university of s?o paulo nursing school, it is important to take a look at its scientific production in order to substantiate reflection about teaching. this is a descriptive-exploratory study. it used as sources the registers of the graduate service, abstracts from theses and dissertations, and memoranda and official correspondence. the data collected were analyzed in the light of the transformations occurred in this structure that has graduated 60 students, of which 50 obtained a master's degree and 10 a phd, and that has been restructuring its disciplines, research lines and projects with the objective of responding to internal and external evaluations and adjusting to the guidelines of the country's fostering agencies. current scientific production points out to an alignment with the guidelines of the psychiatric reform, and a tendency to produce knowledge through the concrete practice of the workers in the assistance field, the management and the teaching of mental health.
Neves,Ana Luísa;
Revista Portuguesa de Clínica Geral , 2011,
Abstract: this article aims to convey the experience of an internship program held in june 2010, at union square family health (usfh) (somerville, boston), a primary care unit affiliated to harvard medical school and tufts university of family medicine. through the description of activities and circumstances of the aforementioned internship, the author intends to establish a critical reflection about her experience. this internship was an opportunity to contact with the daily practice of a family doctor in the u.s., during which the author participated in consultations, health education and cardiovascular risk reduction sessions, observed and improved skills on minor surgery, gynecologic and articular infiltration techniques, always under supervision. it was also possible to contact briefly with the residency program of family medicine at tufts university, participating in videoconferences and seminars, as well as on observation of patients and the discussion of clinical cases. as conclusion, the author discusses the advantages of enrolling an international internship, such as the contact with new ideas and different ways of working and communicating, new skills (and their use as a tool for continuous improvement), the establishment of professional contacts and, last but not least, the valorization of the qualities of our own health system.
Pereira,Ana Luísa;
Sociologia, Problemas e Práticas , 2006,
Abstract: starting out from the foucault?s idea of the panopticon and his later work relating to technologies of the self, we have operationalized a thick description of the fitness gym. to this end we sought to analyse the way in which the gym space affects learners/clients in their bodily exercises. as the description shows, there are several structural factors in the gym which turn it almost into a panopticon. we might describe it as a panopticon which is situated in a particular place, but which is part of a whole social and cultural conjecture prevalent in many of the social domains in which individuals are required to move. for that very reason, they need to take care of themselves in a disciplined manner.
Invertendo a “Passagem Atlantica”: O “regresso” de Richard Wright a áfrica Inverting the Middle Passage: Richard Wright’s Return to Africa En inversant le “passage atlantique” : le “retour” de Richard Wright en Afrique

In this paper, I intend to examine how Richard Wright’s conflictual sense of “return” to Africa in Black Power revolutionizes and subverts the “Middle Passage” on a voluntary voyage to the origins that never really were. His fragmented authorship guides the readers through a personal incursion in the many senses of Modernity and provides us with a valuable insight on the notion of a “common fate”. But any sense of community here is never free of ambiguity for it is closely tied to “race and “identity.” Black Power marks a very significant change in Wright’s literary output as it becomes largely non-fictional. However, this second phase of his career contains a crucial paradox: while Wrights turns himself to the exterior, to a “global” world, he simultaneously tries to inscribe himself as a reference to the place he could never fully escape: Africa. In Black Power, the Duboisian “color line” is given other dimensions.

Starting from the idea that the truth of the text and the truth of life do not coincide, but are united by a thread of truth, necessarily different from that which by convention is called fiction, the author discusses the question of a female identity in the text and also the role played by memory in constructing broader human identities.
Do risco no alpinismo de alta montanha

Revista da Faculdade de Letras : Sociologia , 2009,
Abstract: This paper emerges after the lost of one Portuguese climber, who died in his descent from Shishapangma, one of the 14 mountains in Himalayas. Taking into account this climber’s death and all the others that are not reported, the issue of risk in sport and physical activities, like climbing, is noteworthy. This paper attempts to redress this imbalance through an approach to voluntary risk-taking in high-altitude climbing, where risk can be seen as part of the activity or even as an end. For this intent it is crucial to consider what does this activity signifies to its adherents, analysing the ways in which this activity is invested with and how these meanings may change. After a brief characterization of high-altitude climbing as a risky activity, our paper it is divided in the following sections: i) Control of risk vs. control of life; ii) Risk-taking as a form of transgression; iii) Adventure in high-altitude climbing; iv) Risk as an aestheticization of the experience; v) High-altitude climbing as a form of transcendence and self-overcoming and vi) Social recognition and distinction. This enumeration did not have the goal to isolate meanings; however our re?ection allowed perceiving that they are all linked

Abstract: Transient global cerebral ischemia induces profound changes in the transcriptome of brain cells, which is partially associated with the induction or repression of genes that influence the ischemic response. However, the mechanisms responsible for the selective vulnerability of hippocampal neurons to global ischemia remain to be clarified. To identify molecular changes elicited by ischemic insults, we subjected hippocampal primary cultures to oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD), an in vitro model for global ischemia that resulted in delayed neuronal death with an excitotoxic component. To investigate changes in the transcriptome of hippocampal neurons submitted to OGD, total RNA was extracted at early (7 h) and delayed (24 h) time points after OGD and used in a whole-genome RNA microarray. We observed that at 7 h after OGD there was a general repression of genes, whereas at 24 h there was a general induction of gene expression. Genes related with functions such as transcription and RNA biosynthesis were highly regulated at both periods of incubation after OGD, confirming that the response to ischemia is a dynamic and coordinated process. Our analysis showed that genes for synaptic proteins, such as those encoding for PICK1, GRIP1, TARPγ3, calsyntenin-2/3, SAPAP2 and SNAP-25, were down-regulated after OGD. Additionally, OGD decreased the mRNA and protein expression levels of the GluA1 AMPA receptor subunit as well as the GluN2A and GluN2B subunits of NMDA receptors, but increased the mRNA expression of the GluN3A subunit, thus altering the composition of ionotropic glutamate receptors in hippocampal neurons. Together, our results present the expression profile elicited by in vitro ischemia in hippocampal neurons, and indicate that OGD activates a transcriptional program leading to down-regulation in the expression of genes coding for synaptic proteins, suggesting that the synaptic proteome may change after ischemia.
