Abstract: breast engorgement affects breastfeeding and leads to early weaning. the literature presents techniques for treating engorgement, but there is no agreement as to which is the best treatment. the objective of this study is to identify and analyze the evidence found in the literature regarding non-pharmacological treatments to relieve breast engorgement symptoms during breastfeeding. we performed an integrative literature review of studies published since 1990, on medline and lilacs, using the keywords: breastfeeding, lactation disorder and therapy. we found ten studies: two systematic literature reviews, seven randomized controlled trials and one quasi-experimental study. the analyzed studies show conflicting results and there is not enough evidence to recommend the implementation of the evaluated treatments. further randomized controlled trials are necessary to determine effective therapies for treating breast engorgement.

Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da USP , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0080-62342004000300013
Abstract: this work is a case study that aimed to acknowledge the reasons that persuade women-mothers from a same family to wean their children, and identify the feelings that accompany these women during this process. a semi-structured interview was used for data collection, and the analysis was done using minayo's (1993) methodological orientations. it was concluded that weaning takes place due to various reasons such as: a new pregnancy, child's age, mother's or child's disease, and breast refusal by the child. it was verified that weaning can be soothing for some women while for others it is accompanied by suffering. through the studied women-mother's speeches, it was observed that policymakers' discourses on breast-feeding seem to influence a lot on this practice, having better results on the youngest ones than the previous generations of the family.

Abstract: Objective: To assess the knowledge on reimplant-avulsion of Physical Education Teachers’ in the city of Caruaru (PE). Methods: The study was carried on in the city of Caruaru, Pernambuco (BR), and the participants were 79 professionals who were interviewed through a standard questionnaire containing 11 questions related to dental avulsion as well as to the procedures to be followed in such cases. Results: Only 20.3% of teachers knew what dental traumas are, but none of them had studied the subject during their undergraduate course. It was explained to participants what a dental avulsion was and 44.3% of them answered that they had already seen this kind of trauma in their classes. All professionals said they would give children a handkerchief or a towel for them to bite in order to control bleeding. 19% of the participants would not know what to do and 81% would wash the tooth in water. Most of them (86.1%) recognized the importance of an immediate treatment; all of them said they would wrap the tooth in a paper napkin until the child was assisted; and 26.6% said they would suggest an analgesic for the pain. Conclusion: Teachers did not show any knowledge of the emergency procedures that should be taken in a case of dental avulsion. The inclusion of such procedures in the programs of physical education courses and the availability of preventive educational programs is needed in order to increase the chances of a successful dental reimplant.
