Florescimento e frutifica??o em bambu
Azzini, Anísio;Aranha, Condorcet;Pio, Rose Mary;
Bragantia , 1982, DOI: 10.1590/S0006-87051982000100018
Abstract: in february 1977 the flowering and seeding of bamboo specie melocanna baccifera kurz was observed at the campinas experimental station. the morphological and botanical characteristics observed showed that the material belongs to the above mentioned specie.
Viral etiology among the elderly presenting acute respiratory infection during the influenza season
Watanabe, Aripuan? Sakurada Aranha;Carraro, Emerson;Candeias, Jo?o Manuelo Grisi;Donalísio, Maria Rita;Leal, élcio;Granato, Celso Francisco Hernandes;Bellei, Nancy;
Revista da Sociedade Brasileira de Medicina Tropical , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0037-86822011000100005
Abstract: introduction: acute respiratory tract infections are the most common illness in all individuals. rhinoviruses have been reported as the etiology of more than 50% of respiratory tract infections worldwide. the study prospectively evaluated 47 elderly individuals from a group of 384 randomly assigned for acute respiratory viral infections (cold or flu) and assessed the occurrence of human rhinovirus (hrv), influenza a and b, respiratory syncytial virus and metapneumovirus (hmpv) in botucatu, state of s?o paulo, brazil. methods: forty-nine nasal swabs collected from 47 elderly individuals following inclusion visits from 2002 to 2003 were tested by genscan rt-pcr. hrv-positive samples were sequenced for phylogenetic analysis. results: no sample was positive for influenza a/b or rsv. hrv was detected in 28.6% (14/47) and hmpv in 2% (1/47). of 14 positive samples, 9 isolates were successfully sequenced, showing the follow group distribution: 6 group a, 1 group b and 2 group c hrvs. conclusions: the high incidence of hrv during the months of the influenza season requires further study regarding hrv infection impact on respiratory complications among this population. infection caused by hrv is very frequent and may contribute to increasing the already high demand for healthcare during the influenza season.
Mobilidade pendular na metrópole paulista
Aranha, Valmir;
S?o Paulo em Perspectiva , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-88392005000400006
Abstract: the work identifies, in the metropolitan region of s?o paulo, the main trends of the mobility of people who inhabit in a city and work or study in another one. it detaches the city of s?o paulo as main area of destination of the displacements metropolitans and makes the mapping of five sub-areas of commuting in the too much cities metropolitans.
Sistema de Informa??o Geográfica: uma arma estratégica para o Database Marketing
Aranha, Francisco;
Revista de Administra??o de Empresas , 1996, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-75901996000200003
Abstract: geographic information systems (gis) have become available for desktop computers; theyare extremely useful for database marketing activities and allow data analysis virtually unfeasible with other tools. their application, however, depends on the existence of maps and data potentially expensive and difficult to obtain. geographic information systems usage will become popular in brazil in the next two years.
Como n?o se perder com 9 milh?es de endere?os
Aranha, Francisco;
Revista de Administra??o de Empresas , 1996, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-75901996000400004
Abstract: when adopting new technologies, the issue is not always the availability of resources, but the possibility of access to adequate information and the ability to use new analytical reference sets. when geographic information systems are applied to the treatment of addresses for database marketing, it is necessary to view addresses as the autonomous entities they real/y are, rather than consider them mere c1ientattributes. thisline of action great/y reduces the efforl involved in address matching.
Indicadores de potencial de consumo dos municípios paulistas
Aranha, Francisco;
Revista de Administra??o de Empresas , 1998, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-75901998000400003
Abstract: potential consumption indexes are indirect measurements of the capacity of a region to absorb a certain product category. a linear regression method can be used to prepare a simple and robust index with results comparable or superior to those that can be obtained with indexes sold by consulting businesses. this fact usually goes unobserved because in most cases no efforts are made to check if the indexes really reflect the reality that they supposedly describe. to establish a methodology and prove the above hypothesis, data about supermarket floor space is collected for the "municípios" (counties) of the state of s?o paulo, an index is prepared and then compared to other indicators. results validate initial hypothesis.
Autocorrela??o espacial na área de loja de supermercados nos municípios paulistas: mensura??o por meio do índice de Geary
Aranha, Francisco;
Revista de Administra??o de Empresas , 1999, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-75901999000400005
Abstract: in modeling market potential with simple and multiple regression, unsatisfactory results are frequently obtained due to the presence of spatial autocorrelation in the data. the geary's ratio can identify and measure the intensity of this phenomenon. the concept of autocorrelation substantially improves the performance of a model to estimate supermarket floor space in s?o paulo state counties.
Atlas dos setores postais: uma nova geografia a servi?o da empresa
Aranha, Francisco;
Revista de Administra??o de Empresas , 1997, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-75901997000300004
Abstract: cep - brazilian postal code - can be used to describe locations. the postal code atlas extracts bidimensional proporties from cep, presenting the boundaries of brazilian postal regions; state of s?o paulo sub-regions, and state of s?o paulo countryside sectors. georeferenced information take part in decision making and implementation. this article describes how the postal code atlas is being developed and offers an example of practical application.
E-service em bibliotecas: gera ao de valor para pesquisadores por meio de coopera ao indireta
Aranha, Francisco;
Revista de Administra??o de Empresas , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-75902000000400008
Abstract: indirect cooperation can be applied to library circulation transactions to generate suggestions of items relevant to patrons and researchers. the recommendation system presented in this article uses the cluster analysis and the market basket analysis. it can be used not only in libraries but also in virtual bookshops, and can be easily adapted to practically any kind of e-business enterprise.
An Analysis of the Spectral Energetics for a Planet Experiencing Rapid Greenhouse Gas Emissions  [PDF]
André Ferreira Aranha, José Augusto P. Veiga
Atmospheric and Climate Sciences (ACS) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/acs.2017.71009
Abstract: So far, energetics studies related to climate change have focused on the disturbed and undisturbed kinetic and potential energies, as well as their transformations, without dealing with the energetics involved in the phenomena of different spatial scales. Thus, the present work reports the first analysis of the spectral energetics for a condition of climate change, followed by the high-range emission scenario, RCP8.5, which originated from the new Max Planck Institute Earth System Model (MPI-ESM). The results showed that both types of generation (Go and Gn), baroclinic processes (Co and Cn), kinetic energies (Ko and Kn) and the barotropic process, Mn, significantly increase in the condition of a warming climate. Moreover, the results still reveal that in the most components of the energetics, is the planetary scale waves that are the most impacted under a climate change scenario. These results highlight that global warming can have different impacts on particular types of motions.
