Characterization of the Crystal Structure of Sesame Seed Cake Burned by Nd: YAG Laser  [PDF]

Abstract: This paper reports obtaining of useful and high-value materials from sesame seed cake (SSC). For this purpose, SSC sample was burned for 30 s using Nd: YAG laser with output power 60 W. The products of this process and non-burned SSC were characterized by X-ray diffractometer (XRD), energy dispersive x-ray (EDX) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) so as to investigate its crystal structure and chemical components. XRD results of the SSC before burning process showed amorphous silica, rhombohedral phase of carbon, monoclinic phase of aluminum chloride, the hexagonal phase of moissanite-4H, (yellow, black) and hexagonal phase of graphite-2H, C (black). While the results of the burned SSC sample showed that the burning process using the power of Nd: YAG laser cased in appearing of crystalline hexagonal phase for silica and Carbon Nitride and converting the rhombohedral phase of Carbon into hexagonal phase. FTIR showed a number of absorbance peaks assigned to silica.
On stability and bifurcation of solutions of an SEIR epidemic model with vertical transmission

Abstract: A four-dimensional SEIR epidemic model is considered. The stability of the equilibria is established. Hopf bifurcation and center manifold theories are applied for a reduced three-dimensional epidemic model. The boundedness, dissipativity, persistence, global stability, and Hopf-Andronov-Poincaré bifurcation for the four-dimensional epidemic model are studied.

Abstract: This paper presents a novel and cost effective method to be used in the optimization of the Gaussian Frequency Shift Keying (GFSK) at the receiver of the Bluetooth communication system. The proposed method enhances the performance of the noncoherent demodulation schemes by improving the Bit Error Rate (BER) and Frame Error Rate (FER) outcomes. Linear, Extended, and Unscented Kalman Filters are utilized in this technique. A simulation model, using Simulink, has been created to simulate the Bluetooth voice transmission system with the integrated filters. Results have shown improvements in the BER and FER, and that the Unscented Kalman Filters (UKF) have shown superior performance in comparison to the linear Kalman Filter (KF) and the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF). To the best of our knowledge, this research is the first to propose the usage of the UKF in the optimization of the Bluetooth System receivers in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN), as well as interferences.
Effect of Some Poisonous Plants Extracts on Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. albedinis

Abstract: In the present study, four poisonous plants from the Algerian Sahara (South-West of Algeria): Citrullus colocynhis (L.) Schrad, Calotropis procera Ait., Nerium Oleander, Pergularia tomentosa were used to evaluate their extracts for antifungal activity against Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. albedinis (Foa), the causal agent of the most dangerous disease of date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.). Two parts from each plant were used for extraction by four solvents: methanol, ethyl acetate, dichloromethane and hexane. The antifungal test was realized using disc diffusion technique and Relative Virulence (RV) test (on potato tuber tissue). For both tests, four extract quantities were used (200, 400, 800 and 1600 μg). The relative virulence was presented as necrotic tissue weight (mg) of potato tuber tissue. Among all solvents, methanol gave the best extraction yield (mean: 13.24%, minimum: 8.46%, maximum: 21.91%). The results of disc diffusion assay showed that the most important effect on Foa was observed for hexanic extract of Pergularia tomentosa (stems), methanolic extracts of Citrullus colocynthis (leaves and stems) and Nerium oleander (leaves, stems). The virulence test showed a decrease in RV below 50% for methanolic and dichloromethanic extracts of Citrullus colocynthis (leaves and stems). Coupling the effect of plants extracts on Foa growth and virulence, Citrullus colocynthis extracts showed great efficacy than did other plants.

It also identifies some of the limitations of the technique as well as some of the bacterial infections that can be diagnosed using the technique which include among others; Tuberculosis (TB), whooping cough, brain abscesses and spinal infection, otitis media with effusion, Mycoplasmal pneumonia, endophthalmitis and bacterial meningitis.
The Metal Ions Absorption – and Transportation Properties of L-Aspartic Acid in the Body

Abstract: The intra molecular interactions in complexes of Aspartic acid with divalent metal ions (Mg, Ca & Zn) M(Asp)1 were investigated in this work. The acidity constants of Asp and stability constants of M(Asp) are determined and reported as well. The effect of intra molecular interactions can be seen by comparison of these stability constants. Mg and Ca ions form weaker bonds to Asp than Zn ion. Zn(Asp) complex undergoes an intra molecular interaction and builds a chelate in two forms ( an open – isomer M(Asp)op and a closed – isomer M(Asp)cl ). The concentration independent intra molecular interaction constant for two isomers has been calculated and reported. The obtained results demonstrate that for some M(Asp) complexes the stability constant is largely affected by the affinity of metal ions for amine group. This shows a kind of selectivity of metal ions and transfer them via complex – building with the aspartate. Also all three metal ions complexes could be considered as mineral carriers. These complexes can release the minerals in human body in certain conditions ( e,g. pH – range).

Abstract: Current research has been focused on heavy metals pollution in surface water and groundwater and effect on irrigated soil from El Minia Province, north Upper Egypt. Concentration of heavy metals (e.g., As, Co, Hg, Ni, Se, Cd and Cr) in surface water, groundwater and irrigated soil samples is most significantly affected by leachate of many pollutants as the factories, agricultural activities, urban and natural processes. Microbiological parameters and microscopic investigations are revealed that some localities are common by micro-organisms, which are unsuitable for drinking waters.
Nonlinear Realization of the Local Conform-Affine Symmetry Group for Gravity in the Composite Fiber Bundle Formalism

Abstract: A gauge theory of gravity based on a nonlinear realization (NLR) of the local Conform-Affine (CA) group of symmetry transformations is presented. The coframe fields and gauge connections of the theory are obtained. The tetrads and Lorentz group metric are used to induce a spacetime metric. The inhomogenously transforming (under the Lorentz group) connection coefficients serve as gravitational gauge potentials used to define covariant derivatives accommodating minimal coupling of matter and gauge fields. On the other hand, the tensor valued connection forms serve as auxillary dynamical fields associated with the dilation, special conformal and deformational (shear) degrees of freedom inherent in the bundle manifold. The bundle curvature of the theory is determined. Boundary topological invariants are constructed. They serve as a prototype (source free) gravitational Lagrangian. The Bianchi identities, covariant field equations and gauge currents are obtained.
