Abstract: the release of water-soluble drugs from initially hydrated hydrogels matrices generally involves the simultaneous water absorption and drug desorption through a swelling-controlled diffusion mechanism. the diffusional behaviour of phenobarbitone from a hydrogel formed by a 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate (hema) and methyl monoitaconate (mmi) copolymer was reported. the drug release into water was performed by high pressure liquid cromatography and the results showed that the phenobarbitone release from the hydrogels studies, considering the diffusion coefficient values did not change with the temperature and the polymerization method. the activation energy values suggested a more favorable phenobarbitone release from the hydrogels p(hema-co-mmi) polymerized in mass and bulk solution.

Maleic Anhydride Grafting on EPDM: Qualitative and Quantitative Determination
Barra, Guilherme M.O.;Crespo, Janaina S.;Bertolino, José R.;Soldi, Valdir;Pires, Alfredo T. Nunes;
Journal of the Brazilian Chemical Society , 1999, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-50531999000100006
Abstract: several attempts have been made to compatibilize immiscible blends by introducing suitably-chosen polymer additives. this work studies the epdm elastomer, chemically modified with maleic anhydride (ma), through reaction in solution of epdm and ma, using dibenzoyl peroxide as an initiator. the best conditions for obtaining the maximum grafting were studied at different times and percentage weights of maleic anhydride. the evaluation of ma grafting onto epdm was determined with multiple internal reflectance infrared spectroscopy as discussed in detail.
Adhesion of Epiphany and AH Plus sealers to human root dentin treated with different solutions

Brazilian Dental Journal , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-64402008000100008
Abstract: this study evaluated comparatively the adhesion of epiphany and ah plus endodontic sealers to human root dentin treated with 1% naocl and 1% naocl+17% edta, using the push-out test. sixty root cylinders obtained from maxillary canines had the canals prepared and were randomly assigned to 3 groups (n=20), according to root dentin treatment: gi - distilled water (control), gii - 1% naocl and giii - 1% naocl+17% edta. each group was divided into 2 subgroups (n=10) filled with either epiphany or ah plus. bond strength push-out test data (kn) were obtained and analyzed statistically by anova and tukey's post-hoc test. there was statistically significant difference between sealers (ah plus: 0.78 ± 0.13; epiphany: 0.61 ± 0.19; p<0.01) and among root dentin treatments (distilled water: 0.58 ± 0.19; 1% naocl: 0.71 ± 0.12; 1% naocl+17% edta: 0.80 ± 0.17; p<0.05). in conclusion, ah plus sealer presented greater adhesion to dentin than epiphany, regardless of the treatment of root canal walls.

Produ??o pecuária no montado: suínos
Nunes,J. T.;
Revista de Ciências Agrárias , 2007,
Abstract: livestock production in alentejo has been very important considering both farm and general economy. it is based on natural feedstuffs resources (pastures, acorns etc.) and local breeds. in portugal, during the first half of last century alentejano pig breed represented almost 50% of total pigs raised in the country. intensification on agricultural systems and on livestock management contributed to a strong decrease on extensive system pig herds and in 1986 the amount of autochthonous pigs in portugal represented about 2%. local breeds of pigs, sheep, goats or even cattle recently got a new opportunity. considering high grade products they can apply for an add value, by valorisation of the originality linked to the traditional production system, under oaks or chestnuts canopy. pac evolution and a progressive environmental concern also helped to restart, on a sustainable way, the finishing animal grazing in open spaces, pigs fattened under acorns (montanheira) or chestnuts. that means the fattening of hogs aged 14 to 18 months grazing under oaks, during autumn and winter. this late fattening, performed on a diet rich in starch, produces heavy carcasses, from 120 kg to 140 kg, with high percentage of fat and an important intermuscular infiltration of fat. to recommend a proper livestock management to optimise the carcass and meat characteristics, in farming systems using natural resources it?s necessary to know, objectively, the natural feedstuffs resources, the particular physiology of local breeds, physical and chemical characteristics and sensorial request of traditional products, as well as fresh meat parameters.
Produ o pecuária no montado: suínos Livestock production in the “montado”: pigs
J. T. Nunes
Covariantization and canonical quantization in the light-cone gauge
Alfredo T. Suzuki,Ricardo Bentin
Physics , 2002,
Abstract: In the light-cone gauge choice for Abelian and non-Abelian gauge fields, the vector boson propagator carries in it an additional ``spurious'' or ``unphysical'' pole intrinsic to the choice requiring a careful mathematical treatment. Research in this field over the years has shown us that mathematical consistency only is not enough to guarantee physically meaningful results. Whatever the prescription invoked to handle such an object, it has to preserve causality in the process. On the other hand the covariantization technique is a well suited one to tackle gauge dependent poles in the Feynman integrals, dispensing the use of {\em ad hoc} prescriptions. In this work we show that the covariantization technique in the light-cone gauge is a direct consequence of the canonical quantization of the theory.
