Psicologia , 2006,
Abstract: this study is aimed to investigate the quality of the pregnant woman?s attachment and significant relationships during pregnancy. more precisely it intends (1) to deter-mine social and demographic characteristics as well as previous conditions of existence that may predict an (in)secure attachment style (2) to estimate the attach-ment style?s impact on the quality of the relationship and support by the partner and another significant person, during pregnancy. a sample of 130 pregnant women (66 adolescents and 64 adults) was evaluated in the last trimester of gesta-tion on the attachment style and on the quality of the relationship and support from the partner and another significant person (on the basis of the atta-chment style interview, asi, bifulco, figueiredo, guedeney, gorman, hays et al., 2004; bifulco, moran, ball & bernazzani, 2002a; bifulco, moran, ball & lillie, 2002b). the sample was collected at the júlio dinis maternity hospital (porto, portugal) and is very heterogeneous regarding social and demographic characteristics, such as: age, educational level, marital status, occupational status and family unit, though it is mainly composed of primiparous pregnant. the results showed that the pregnant childhood parental divorce/separation and present unemployment predict an insecure attachment style, and an association between teen pregnancy and an dismissing attachment style. the results also showed that an insecure attachment style predicts a worse relationship with the partner, as well as a worse relationship with the significant other, principally the presence of discordant relationships with the partner and of apathetic relationships with the significant other. enmeshed strategies affects the relationship with the partner (in aspects as less trust, poor emotional support and more negative inter-action), but not with the significant other, while dismissive strategies affect the relationship with the significant other (in aspects as less shared activities a

PsiLogos , 2012,
Abstract: The Psychiatric Department of the Hospital Fernando Fonseca (HFF) was the first service in Portugal based on the general hospital to develop an integrated model of mental health care in the community, oriented towards the needs of the population and supported by multidisciplinary teams. This model is based on continuity of care by the same team, assertive follow-up of patients in the community, in conjunction with primary health care and a wide range of interventions. The activity of the Service occurs at both hospital and community levels, maintaining a close articulation between the different units that constitute it, to ensure the necessary continuity of care. The Community Teams of Amadora, Brandoa, Damaia and Queluz constitute the Functional Community Intervention Unit and are based in the Health Centers of the area where they operate. This work aims to characterize the active population followed by the Brandoa Community Team in December 2008, at socio-demographic and clinical levels and from the data obtained to do a brief reflection in order to question the activities undertaken and to improve care practices in the future.

International Journal of Clinical and Health Psychology , 2006,

International Journal of Clinical and Health Psychology , 2003,
An Efficient Method for Genomic DNA Extraction from Different Molluscs Species
Jorge C. Pereira,Raquel Chaves,Estela Bastos,Alexandra Leit?o,Henrique Guedes-Pinto
International Journal of Molecular Sciences , 2011, DOI: 10.3390/ijms12118086
Abstract: The selection of a DNA extraction method is a critical step when subsequent analysis depends on the DNA quality and quantity. Unlike mammals, for which several capable DNA extraction methods have been developed, for molluscs the availability of optimized genomic DNA extraction protocols is clearly insufficient. Several aspects such as animal physiology, the type (e.g., adductor muscle or gills) or quantity of tissue, can explain the lack of efficiency (quality and yield) in molluscs genomic DNA extraction procedure. In an attempt to overcome these aspects, this work describes an efficient method for molluscs genomic DNA extraction that was tested in several species from different orders: Veneridae, Ostreidae, Anomiidae, Cardiidae (Bivalvia) and Muricidae (Gastropoda) , with different weight sample tissues. The isolated DNA was of high molecular weight with high yield and purity, even with reduced quantities of tissue. Moreover, the genomic DNA isolated, demonstrated to be suitable for several downstream molecular techniques, such as PCR sequencing among others.

Análise Psicológica , 2004,
Abstract: the aim of the present study is to evaluate the influence of the memories of childhood parental care in the attachment style and the quality of the relationship with significant others during pregnancy. a sample of 48 adolescents was evaluated, in the third trimester of pregnancy, with the following instruments: inventory for assessing memories of parental rearing behaviour (embu) (perris, jacobson, lindstorm, von knorring, & perris, 1980), attachment style interview (asi) (bifulco, figueiredo, guedeney, gorman, hayes, et al., 2004) and self evaluation and social support (sess) (brown et al., 1990), to assess the mother's memories of parental care, attachment style and quality of the social support and of the relationship with significant others. results suggest that the quality of childhood parental care is a determinant factor to the attachment style observed in pregnant adolescents; mostly rejection and lack of emotional support from both parents seem to be determinant for the emergence of insecure attachment strategies. furthermore, the quality of childhood parental care - emotional support from the mother and rejection from both parents - seems also to be related with the adolescent's quality of the relationship with the partner and a significant other, during pregnancy. there are some evidences that childhood parental care experiences may influence the quality of the relationship with significant in adolescence/adulthood because it contributes into the constructions of secure and insecure attachment strategies.

Psicologia, Saúde & Doen?as , 2007,
Abstract: the delivery is an experience perceived as difficult by most mothers; the way mothers remember this experience during the early postpartum months can interfere in their mood and predisposition to get pregnant again. aims: the main aim of this study is to explore continuities and changes in the perception of the childbirth experience throughout the first six postpartum months, and relating them to the type of delivery. method: a sample of 306 pregnant women, recruited at the júlio dinis maternity hospital (oporto, portugal), filled in the "childbirth experience and satisfaction questionnaire" (qesp, costa, figueiredo, pacheco, & pais, 2004) in the first 48 hours after delivery, 3rd and 6th postpartum months. results: results showed changes in the perception of childbirth experience in a positive way between 48 hours after delivery and the 6th postpartum month. at this moment, women perceived their childbirth experience with more positive emotions, less negative emotions and fewer worries during delivery. the occurrence of these positive changes is associated to the type of delivery, being especially clear in normal deliveries with epidural analgesia and in cesarean with general anaesthetic. conclusions: the construction of a more positive perception of childbirth experience can be a relevant postpartum developmental task, more consistent in normal deliveries with epidural analgesia and in caesarean with general anaesthetic.
