Abstract:

Abstract: the paper discusses the conditions for microenterprises to remain in the market. the analysis demonstrates that microenterprises facing tight constraints may remain in the market only if they are capable of achieving increasing returns and economies of scale that shift down their average cost curves towards more competitive levels. this finding is supported by the analysis of a sample of 95 mexican microenterprises, and by the estimation of a production optimization model.
Aprendizaje en microempresas de Baja California

Estudios fronterizos , 2011,
Abstract: mexico's business structure has been characterized by the presence of microenterprises, particularly those averaging two workers, representing 65% of establishments in 2008 and 18% of employment. this makes them important for equity and welfare improvement of their members. this paper analyzes the performance of a group of 227 microenterprises in the state of baja california, by the use of a practical application of the concept of learning curve arranged to incorporate returns to scale. the results indicate that in 48% of cases there is evidence of learning processes and 58% exhibited increasing returns to scale. this allows evaluating the development potential of these microenterprises and the design and implementation of proactive programs that encourage their learning and consolidation in the market.

Ramírez-Urquidy, Martín;Mungaray, Alejandro;Guzmán Gastelum, Nidia Z.;
Región y sociedad , 2009,
Abstract: the industrial structure of mexico includes a significant share of agents running low-scale, informal enterprises. this constitutes a serious obstacle to obtaining funding in formal financial markets; consequently these entrepreneurs face a permanent liquidity constraint. this article tests the hypothesis that despite this formal liquidity constraint some informal microenterprises are unconstrained of financial resources. the results suggest this possibility by finding unconstrained microenterprises in baja california, implying the presence of external sources of funding and illustrating the importance of informal finance to these enterprises.

On the Accuracy of the Complete Basis Set Extrapolation for Anionic Systems: A Case Study of the Electron Affinity of Methane  [PDF]
Alejandro Ramírez-Solís
Computational Chemistry (CC) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/cc.2014.22005
Abstract: Recent experimental evidence suggests again the existence of the metastable methane anion in plasma swarms. In order to test the reliability of the complete basis set (CBS) extrapolation scheme with augmented correlation-consistent basis sets for anionic molecules, we study the evolution of the electron affinity of methane with benchmark ab initio calculations with aug-cc basis sets up to aug-cc-pV6Z + diffuse. Geometry optimizations and vibrational analysis were done at the MP2 level. The electron affinity (EA) was calculated at the MP2 and CCSD(T) levels with and without frozen core and including the extrapolations to the CBS limit. Using the aug-cc-pVnZ basis sets it is found that two non-decreasing CCSD(T) CBS limits exist for the EA (0.29 and 0.53 eV) obtained with the n = 3, 4, 5 and n = 4, 5, 6 series, respectively. A new scheme is proposed which can be generalized for very accurate quantum chemical description of molecular anions: the standard aug-cc-pVnZ basis sets can be supplemented with extra-diffuse orbitals using a simple even-tempered scheme. This yields a reliable CBS extrapolation method to develop a (discrete approximation of a) continuum anionic state near ionization, viz., one that closely matches the energy of the corresponding neutral state. These results show that CH4 has no stable anions of 2A1 symmetry, implying that plasma swarms with anionic methane consist of metastable rather than stable methane anions.
NATURALEZA DE LOS RAZONAMIENTOS BASADOS EN MODELOS
Ramírez Figueroa,Alejandro;
Praxis Filosófica , 2010,
Abstract: the concept of model-based reasoning, rbm, is today a central topic in the disciplinary fields of logic, philosophy of science and cognitive science. however, its inferential nature remains problematic. in this paper, the aforementioned problem is tackled in two separate stages: first, the specific idea of model involved in rbm is both identified and clarified, and secondly, a thesis is proposed and developed, namely that its inferential nature possesses the following fourfold root that differentiates it from the proposition and rule based standard enunciative format: iconic model representation, model manipulation concept, structural conservation in the conclusion, and direct access.
