Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02762006000200007
Abstract: a total of 221 strains of aeromonas species isolated in mexico from clinical (161), environmental (40), and food (20) samples were identified using the automated system biomérieux-vitek?. antisera for serogroups o1 to 044 were tested using the shimada and sakazaki scheme. the k1 antigen was examined using as antiserum the o7:k1c of escherichia coli. besides, we studied the antimicrobial patterns according to vitek automicrobic system. among the 161 clinical strains 60% were identified as a. hydrophila, 20.4% as a. caviae, and 19.25% as a. veronii biovar sobria. only a. hydrophila and a. veronii biovar sobria were found in food (55 and 90% respectively) and environmental sources (45 and 10% respectively). using "o" antisera, only 42.5% (94/221) of the strains were serologically identified, 55% (121/221) were non-typable, and 2.5% (6/221) were rough strains. twenty-two different serogroups were found, o14, o16, o19, o22, and o34 represented 60% of the serotyped strains. more than 50% of aeromonas strain examined (112/221) expressed k1 encapsulating antigen; this characteristic was predominant among aeromonas strains of clinical origin. resistance to ampicillin/sulbactam and cephazolin was detected in 100 and 67% of aeromonas strain tested for their susceptibility to antibiotics. in conclusion, antibiotic-resistant aeromonas species that possess the k1 encapsulating antigen and represent serogroups associated with clinical syndrome in man are not uncommon among aeromonas strains isolated from clinical, food and environmental sources in mexico.

Abstract:

Aeromonas is a Gram-negative bacterium that lives in aquatic habitats. It can be infective in humans. One of its remarkable attributes is the ability of biofilm formation. Many factors are involved in the construction of biofilms as has been described for Pseudomonas, Klebsiella, and Vibrio, among others. The aim of this work was to study the bacterial morphology during the establishment of biofilm through scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) with a modified microtiter plate assay and to determine the best conditions for the establishment of Aeromonas caviae Sch3 biolfilm in vitro. We observed several phenotypic changes, including surface appearance, size, presence of extracellular vesicles from 100 to 250 nm in diameter, and flagella. The best conditions for biofilm formation were to grow cultures at 28℃ at pH 6, as determined by the crystal violet assay. This is, to the best of our knowledge, the first study that describes the cell’s biological events involved in the establishment of biofilm formation of Aeromonas caviae Sch3 in vitro.

Abstract: Aims: To assess the frequency and the main HPV genotypes circulating among a group of women attending at a third level Hospital in Mexico City. Methods: A cross-sectional and descriptive study was performed in a group of 143 female outpatients of the Gynecology and Obstetrics Service at the National Institute of Perinatology of Mexico. Cervical swabs were taken from participants and subjected to simultaneous detection/genotyping of HPV by Linear Array Genotyping Test (Roche Molecular Systems). Mann-Whitney U, median and/or Square Chi tests were used to compare socio-demographical features between HPV-infected and uninfected women. Results: A total of 66 women (46.2%) had HPV infection. Overall, 112 genotypes were detected either as single infections (45.5%) or multiple genotype infections (54.5%). The cumulated frequency of multiple infections with high-/low- and high-/high-risk HPV genotypes was 63.9 %. The most frequent high-risk genotypes were HPV52 HPV58 and HPV51, whereas the most frequent low-risk genotypes were HPV6, HPV53 and HPV84. Infected women were significantly younger and have less stable partner relationships than uninfected women (p < 0.05). Conclusion: A relevant frequency of mixed infections with high- and low-risk HPV genotypes, other than those considered most prevalent worldwide, was observed. Most circulating high-risk genotypes among the women of this study are not covered by commercial vaccine formulations.

Psychology (PSYCH) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2017.83018
Abstract: The aims of this study are 1) to evaluate the mental health continuum and the dual-continua model classifications in a sample of Argentinean adults; and 2) to compare the mental health prevalence according to demographic variables and the presence of significant psychiatric symptoms. The sample included 627 adults (49.8% males and 50.2% females). The mean age of participants was 40.62 years old. The Symptom Checklist-90-Revised and the Mental Health Continuum-Short Form were used in the study. A high proportion of adults had flourishing mental health (39.7%), and only a minority had languishing mental health (5.7%). Higher mental health was related only to having income. Having any mental disorder significantly decreased mental health status, and individuals were more languishing and less flourishing in all mental disorder categories. Findings showed Argentinean adults to have very good mental health.
Las competencias profesionales del psicólogo y las necesidades de perfiles profesionales en los diferentes ámbitos laborales

Abstract: decrease of employment at national and international level results in an oversupply of young professionals with difficulties to find new jobs. this results in an increase of standards to hire new professionals who are demanded highly specialized competencies to enter the job market. this tendency is particularly important in psychology. high market pressure causes an increase of new and highly specific interventions in the field of psychology; thus newer education and training of psychologists are required in an array of areas. knowledge of community needs in order to channel thorough health and other psychology related services are rare in argentina. in other countries, this topic is quite essential to the effective design of job or position offers to professionals entering the job market. in argentina, psychologists' image as a professional with generic competencies prevails, predominantly academic training in the field of clinical psychology with a lack of interest and knowledge in other psychology areas. university curricula in general terms lack integration between theory and real professional practice. the main goal of this investigation is to analyze the adjustment between psychologist's competencies and the need for professional profiles in four different psychology fields (health, education, forensic and industrial/ organizational) from the psychologist's employer point of view. another goal of this research is to examine strengths and weaknesses of sophomore students and young graduate psychologists. our approach consisted in considering self-perception of competence of the actors involved (subjective competencies). we present data of 109 employers of psychologists in different professional areas. effective psychologists task were required to those employers. data also were gathered on 499 psychologists to whom a similar survey was administered to identify self-perceived competence in 57 basic psychological skills surveyed in the employer's sample. strengt
