Abstract: A new complexes of Cp2Ti[S2P(OR)2]2 (where R = Et, Pr-n, Pr-i, Bu-i and Ph) and Cp2Ti[S2POGO]2 (where G = -CH2CMe2CH2-, -CH2CEt2CH2- and -CMe2CMe2-) were prepared by the dropwise addition of the appropriate O,O’-dialkyl or -alkylenedithiophosphoric acid to biscyclopentadienyl titanium dichloride in 1:2 molar ratio and refluxed in benzene solution. These novel deep red colored complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, molecular weight measurements and spectroscopic techniques (IR., NMR 1H, 13C and 31P NMR). These titanium (IV) dithio complexes have also been screened for their antibacterial activities.

Abstract: A series of new complexes, CpTiCl[S2P(OR)2]2 (where R) Et, n-Pr, i-Pr, Bui, Ph) and CpTiCl [S2POGO]2 (where G) –CH2CMe2CH2-, -CMe2CMe2-) have been prepared by the drop wise addition of the appropriate O, O’-dialkyl or -alkylene dithiophosphoric acid to cyclopentadienyl titanium trichloride in 1:2 molar ratio and refluxed in benzene solution. The new compounds were characterized by molecular weight measurements elemental analyses and spectroscopic studies (1H, 13C, and 31P NMR, and in-frared). We suggest a distorted tetrahedron structure of these new complexes and the dithioligand behaves as bidentate ligand.

Abstract: Reaction of acetylacetone with 1 mole of dimethylformamide dimethyl acetal (DMFDMA) affords enamine 2a which reacts with cyanothioacetamide to give pyridinethione 3a. Pyridinethione 3a reacts with methyl iodide, halogenated compounds, aromatic aldehyde and malononitrile/elemental sulfur to yiled compounds 7-10 respectively. Reactions of thioether 7 in ethanolic K2CO3, 1 mole DMFDMA and 4-(dimethylamino)benzaldehyde give compounds 11, 13, 14 respectively. Enaminone 12 can be prepared by reaction of compound 11 with DMFDMA. We have demonstrated some reactions in order to show the potential usefulness of the prepared compounds for the preparation of new bipyridyl compounds 15, 16, 18, bicyclic compounds 17 and uncommon tricyclic compounds 20, 21, 22 and 23 respectively using DMFDMA.

Abstract: Technology evolution has been a driving factor in the oil tanker industry. The technology breakthroughs and historical data served as the main factor of evo-lution in the industry. Nowadays the oil tankers have been modified and opti-mized according to the requirements of the cargo and the area in which they are supposed to operate. This paper reviews some technological developments in the tanker industry and driving factors behind them. The issues of environmental pollution, failure prediction, and efficient operations are also discussed in mathematical terms.
Resolution of Ternary Mixture of Aspirin, Atorvastatin, and Clopidogrel by Chemometric-Assisted UV Spectroscopic and Liquid Chromatography Methods

Abstract: Two chemometrics-assisted UV spectrophotometric methods were proposed for the resolution of ternary mixtures without any chemical pretreatment. The first method is based on modification of H-point standard addition method which permits simultaneous analysis of three species from a unique calibration set by making the simultaneous addition of the three analytes. Quotient between the spectra of aspirin, atorvastatin, and clopidogrel was obtained and the results showed that simultaneous determination of aspirin, atorvastatin, and clopidogrel can be obeyed in the linear range 2.5–20?μg?mL?1 of aspirin, 2.5–17.5?μg?mL?1 of atorvastatin, and 2.5–20?μg?mL?1 of clopidogrel in ternary mixture. The second method is based on the combination of the first derivative spectra and Cramer's matrix rule. In the matrix calculation, clopidogrel has zero crossing point at 316.8 and 212?nm, while for atorvastatin the zero crossing point at 250?nm where the matrix is greatly simplified and easily solved. The linear concentration ranges were 2.5–20?μg?mL?1 aspirin, 2.5–17.5?μg?mL?1 atorvastatin and 2.5–20?μg?mL?1 clopidogrel in ternary mixtures. The results proved that the simultaneous determination of aspirin, atorvastatin, and clopidogrel could be obeyed. Both methods were applied for capsules containing the three ingredients and results were in good concordance with alternative liquid chromatography. 1. Introduction Aspirin (ASP, acetylsalicylic acid) is used as an analgesic, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory medication and an antiplatelet agent. For clopidogrel bisulphate (CLOP), chemically it is methyl (+)-(S)-α-(2-chlorophenyl)-6,7-dihydrothieno[3, 2-c]pyridine-5(4H)acetate sulfate (1?:?1) and is an oral, thienopyridine class antiplatelet agent used to inhibit blood clots in coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, and cerebrovascular disease. Atorvastatin calcium (ATOR), [R- ]-2-(4-fluorophenyl)-β,δ,-dihydroxy-5-(1-methylethyl)-3-phenyl-4 [(phenylamino)carbonyl]-lH-pyrrole-1-heptanoic acid, calcium salt (2?:?1) trihydrate is an inhibitor of 3 hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase. Abstract: Educational data mining concerns with developing methods for discovering knowledge from data that come from educational domain. In this paper we used educational data mining to improve graduate students’ performance, and overcome the problem of low grades of graduate students. In our case study we try to extract useful knowledge from graduate students data collected from the college of Science and Technology – Khanyounis. The data include fifteen years period [1993-2007]. After preprocessing the data, we applied data mining techniques to discover association, classification, clustering and outlier detection rules. In each of these four tasks, we present the extracted knowledge and describe its importance in educational domain.

Seatbelts and road traffic collision injuries

Abstract: Road Traffic Collisions (RTC) are a leading cause of death, killing yearly more than 1.2 million worldwide, half of them between the age of 15 and 44. They cause further disabilities for more than 50 million injured patients [1]. RTC are often preventable. A reduction in the fatality rates can be achieved by improving vehicle crash safety and roadway design. The most important motor vehicle crash safety innovation which contributed to reduction in mortality has been the installation and proper use of seatbelts [2,3].Some physicians in USA in the 1930s equipped their own cars with lap belts pushing the manufacturers to include them in the vehicle design [4]. This was not obligatory till 1964 when many USA states made it compulsory. Studies on seatbelts, as early as 1960, concluded that seatbelts reduce major fatal injuries [5]. Seatbelts were designed to prevent injury to the restrained passengers during RTC by preventing the occupant from hitting the vehicle components or being ejected from the vehicle [6].Seatbelts reduce morbidity and mortality [5]. 50 - 80% of all deaths of RTC could have been prevented by properly used seatbelt [3,7]. Restrained occupants who have survived were shown to have more incidence of vertebral and intra-abdominal injuries compared with unbelted occupants [8]. It is not clear whether these injuries were caused by the seatbelts or they have been detected more in those who survived. Seatbelt effectiveness is related to the driver's behaviour and education level [9]. Incorrectly used seatbelts may cause fatal injuries [10]. Herby, we review the literature on seatbelts and their role in reducing road traffic collision injuries.Seatbelts reduce the severity of injury caused by RTC by restraining vehicle occupants in their seats and preventing them from hitting objects, or being ejected through the windows. Abstract: The use of biomarkers has become an important tool for modern environmental assessment as they can help to predict pollutants involved in the monitoring program. Here I present data on bioaccumulation, biochemical and tissues biomarkers in Nile tilapia as early warning indicators of river Nile pollution. Nile tilapia sampled from downstream sites accumulated higher levels of all the detected heavy metals than those collected from upstream sites. Heavy metal residues in the tissues of Nile tilapia exhibited different patterns of accumulation and distribution among the selected tissues. Remarkable alterations in the activities of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PDH) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) in the tissues of Nile tilapia were detected. These alterations were followed, in the present study, by the occurrence of histological lesions in liver and gill tissues of fish collected from the same sites. Alterations in bioaccumulation patterns, in enzyme activities and in histology go in parallel with the elevation in the levels of water chemical parameters detected in the downstream sites as a result of pollution stress in these areas. These results provide evidence that bioaccumulation, biochemical and tissues biomarkers can be sensitive indicators of exposure to mixed pollutants in surface waters.
Evolutionary Approach to Forex Expert Advisor Generation  [PDF]

We have developed a genetic algorithm approach for automatically generating expert advisors, computer programs that trade automatically in the financial markets. Our system, known as GenFx or Genetic Forex, evaluates evolutionarily generated expert advisors strategies using predetermined fitness functions to automatically prioritize parents for breeding. GenFx simulates several key factors in natural selection. It employs a multiple generation breeding population, a notion of gender, and the concept of aging to maintain diversity while providing many breeding opportunities to highly successful offspring. The approach is also especially efficient running in a multiple processor, multiple selection-strategy mode using multiple settings. We found out that a multi-processor gender-based running of the system outperformed all single runs of the system. This system is inspired by GenShade, a previous system that we have developed for evolutionary generating procedural textures. The methods described in this paper are not limited to the Forex market or financial problems only but are applicable to many other fields.
