Abstract: in a previous study the concept of nanocomposite for pharmaceutical applications, more specifically in drugs' release, was used. a polymer-layered silicate nanocomposite (pln) of pvp k-30 - organophilic mmt (ommt) at a 2:1 ratio was produced in dichloromethane solution and successfully evaluated as a pharmaceutical adjuvant. in this study the influence of reaction time was investigated. xrd data indicates that maximum interlamellar distances were achieved after 12 hours. these results lead us to carry out a more detailed study in order to follow the intercalation process. the influence of several increasing reaction times (15 minutes to 72 hours) on the interplanar distances of pvp-ommt (in dichloromethane solution) and pvp-mmt (in aqueous solution) at 2:1, 1:1 and 1:2 ratios was investigated with xrd. the data obtained showed that new pln were obtained at short time reaction times (up to 1 hour), which was attributed to amide structure of the polymer (pvp), capable of establishing links with the anionic clay lamellae.

Abstract: nanotechnology is related to structures, properties and processes involving materials in a nanometer dimension. this is widely used for pharmaceutical applications, more specifically in drugs' release. in this context, the present work studies the use of organophilic montmorillonite (ommt), viscogel b8, as matrix of controlled release of drugs. new polymer-layered silicate nanocomposites (pln) of meg, peg 6000 and ommt were prepared and compared with pvp k-30-ommt.
Prepara??o de argila modificada com cloreto de cetilpiridíneo e avalia??o da intera??o desta com o PVC
Resende, Daniel K.;Dornelas, Camila B.;Tavares, Maria I. B.;Gomes, Ailton S.;Moreira, Leonardo. A.;Cabral, Lúcio M.;Simeoni, Luiz. A.;
Polímeros , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-14282010005000031
Abstract: a modified silicate with cetylpyridinium was prepared from sodium clay with cation exchange in solution. the amount of modification agent for clay and the reaction time were evaluated. the materials produced were characterized using x ray diffraction (xrd), termogravimetric analysis (tga) and low field nuclear magnetic resonance (nmr). the formation of new organic clay was confirmed, which was introduced in pvc for the formation of nanocomposites. the beginning of degradation of the new clay occurred at temperatures higher than commonly used in the processing of pvc. the nanocomposites were partially exfoliated and partially intercalated.
Sobre uma nova teoria de precifica??o de op??es e outros derivativos
Cassettari, Ailton;
Revista Brasileira de Economia , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-71402001000300005
Abstract: this paper develops a new theory of derivative securities pricing and implementes it for the specific case of european call options on a hypothetical non-dividend-paying stock. the basic premise is that the drift of the underlying asset plays a very important role in the pricing process, in the context of transport phenomena. a systematic confrontation to well-known black-scholes and bivariate trending ornstein-uhlenbeck models is also carried out, providing plausibility and effectiveness for this approach.

Revista do Departamento de Geografia , 2001, DOI: 10.7154/rdg.v0i14.69
Abstract: O objetivo deste estudo é identificar a cobertura vegetal em áreas urbanas.
The Maximum Entropy Principle and the Modern Portfolio Theory
Ailton Cassetari
Revista Brasileira de Finan?as , 2003,
Abstract: In this work, a capital allocation methodology base don the Principle of Maximum Entropy was developed. The Shannons entropy is used as a measure, concerning the Modern Portfolio Theory, are also discuted. Particularly, the methodology is tested making a systematic comparison to: 1) the mean-variance (Markovitz) approach and 2) the mean VaR approach (capital allocations based on the Value at Risk concept). In principle, such confrontations show the plausibility and effectiveness of the developed method.

Abstract: the variety group 'brasília' is still largely cultivated during the summer season in brazil. these open pollinated cultivars are adapted to warm climates/regions and they present field resistance to the leaf blight disease complex and to root-knot nematodes (genus meloidogyne), which are the two major biotic problems in tropical and subtropical regions. however, some cultivars of the 'brasília' group have important genetic disorders with negative impacts on the visual, sensorial, and nutritional quality of the roots. 'brs planalto' is a new open pollinated cultivar released by the embrapa vegetable crops breeding program, aiming to minimize much of these problems. 'brs planalto' was developed after 18 cycles of recurrent selection based upon the performance of half-sib progenies using the cultivar brasília as the basic germplasm. evaluations were carried out in each selection cycle for a set of phenotypic traits using two replications (1 m2 plots) with about 100 roots per plot of each half-sib family. 'brs planalto' has a darker orange root color when compared to 'brasília' due to the higher accumulation of the carotenoid pigments α-carotene and β-carotene (vitamin a precursors). in addition, 'brs planalto' displays uniform xylem and phloem color and low incidence of precocious bolting during the warm season. 'brs planalto' has lower green and purple root shoulder incidences as well as lower frequency of white halo in the root tissue when compared to 'brasília'. 'brs planalto' has also a more uniform root pattern (shape and size) when compared to other cultivars of the 'brasília' group. 'brs planalto' is adapted to both conventional and organic crop systems and presents a very high yield potential. therefore, 'brs planalto' might occupy a strategic role in the brazilian carrot agribusiness chain due to its improved visual and nutritional root qualities when compared to other cultivars of the 'brasília' variety group.
