Surface Area and Conductivity of Open-Cell Carbon Foams  [PDF]
Adriana M. Druma, M. Khairul Alam, Calin Druma
Journal of Minerals and Materials Characterization and Engineering (JMMCE) , 2006, DOI: 10.4236/jmmce.2006.51005
Abstract: High thermal conductivity carbon foams have recently emerged as an effective thermal management material for space applications due to their lightweight. Open cell carbon foams are generally processed from pitch material obtained from coal or petroleum. These foams have spherical pores that create a three dimensional network of ligaments and nodes of complex geometry. The thermal conductivity of carbon foams can be studied numerically by finite element method; however the analysis requires a very fine grid that captures the microstructure of the foam. In this work, an analytical model for surface area and thermal conductivity is developed for a foam. To reduce the computational effort, an electrical circuit network analogy is used to calculate the bulk thermal conductivity of the foam. The analytical solution is then compared with semi-empirical models, FEM solution and other analytical solutions.
Lagartos iguanios del Colhuehuapense (Mioceno Temprano) de Gaiman (provincia del Chubut, Argentina)
Albino,Adriana M;
Ameghiniana , 2008,
Abstract: the early miocene beds of the sarmiento formation at gaiman, chubut province (argentina) have provided one of the most relevant collection of miocene squamates, including iguanians, teiids, boids, and colubrids. fragmentary remains assigned to the extant iguanians pristidactylus and liolaemus are here described, representing the earliest records of these genera. climatic and environmental changes occurred during the neogene in patagonian areas would have influenced differentially the squamate fauna, producing the retraction in the distribution of tupinambine teiids and boid snakes, and, in contrast, the diversification of iguanians on both sides of the andes.
La participación femenina en los movimientos por los derechos Humanos en La Pampa contemporánea: The female participation in Human Rights Movements in contemporary La Pampa
Morales,Mónica Adriana;
La aljaba , 2010,
Abstract: the aim of the paper lies in analyzing the nature of political participation of women within the various human rights organizations in the province of la pampa, rescuing them as historical subjects and protagonists of our history. we start to understand participation as a way of self-asserting in society as a legitimate way of claiming our rights as citizens and the citizenship as appropriative practice of existing rights and producer of new rights. it is in the field of human rights organizations at national and local level where participation in general and women in particular enabled the reconstruction of the threads of community and political solidarity corrupted by systematical state violence. through oral history, is to rescue the voices of women who were active participants in the task of establishing, in pampas society in particular and argentina in general, demand for justice and the recovery of individual and collective rights.
Efectos terapéuticos de la intervención psicoanalítica en ámbitos institucionales
Rubistein,Adriana M.;
Anuario de investigaciones , 2009,
Abstract: this paper presents the mains, hypothesis and methodology of the project of investigation p017, "therapeutic effects of psychoanalytical interventions in institutional fields" approved by ubacyt for the period 2008/2010. it proposes a systematisation of the therapeutic effects produced from psychoanalytical interventions in institutional fields, in different devices, pathologies, ages, and times, and looks to give account of the logic of his production we consider that this effects depends so much of the intervention of the analyst as of the variability of the subjective conditions of the patient. we will realize a study of cases. we consider that this subject results of special interest, given the incidence in our country of the analytical practice in institutions and the need to give account of the results from a perspective that do not abandon the proper principles of the psychoanalytical method.
La eficacia del análisis y el uso del caso en los textos freudianos
Rubistein,Adriana M.;
Anuario de investigaciones , 2007,
Abstract: the present contribution, in the framework of the project of investigation approved by ubacyt: "freud and the efficacy of the analysis", set out to present the foundation, the objectives and hypothesis of the current stage of the project, and include some preliminary considerations on the use of the case in the freudian texts to give account of the efficacy of the analysis, to produce its concepts and to put them on approval. also the importance of the analytical method in the use of the case in psychoanalysis will be located specifying some modalities of its use relative to the objectives, the possibility of its generalization and the way of treatment of the clinical material.
La violencia política en la Rusia de Putin. ?Qué ocurrió con los opositores políticos de Vladimir Putin?
Boersner Herrera,Adriana M;
Análisis Político , 2009,
Abstract: since vladimir putin came to power in 2000, has formed a petrostate, based on the wealth of oil, while strengthening a new bureaucracy and a new industrial economy. the russian managed democracy, as has been cataloged, it's just a hint of a political system that hides a dictatorship, as the monopoly of political power is held by a single party, united russia, leaving truce to political parties dissident forces with the design that prevent the release of the opposition to submit their proposals. the growing public protests against the policies of the government through violent attack leaving the full totalitarian policies of the twentieth century no longer remember the freedoms and the rule of law, democracy is threatened. in the following essay we analyze the role played by political dissent by the russian president vladimir putin on his two presidential governments (2000-2004 and 2004-2008) and how we view the politics taken by the regime of vladimir putin to silence these voices.
The Concept of Security Revisited New Approaches: Human Security and Risk Assessment
Adriana M?rg?rit
Acta Universitatis Danubius : Relationes Internationales , 2009,
Abstract: The field of study of security is confronted today with a proliferation of security relatedconcepts. In this regard we can mention various concepts, such as: “transnational security”, “extendedsecurity”, “human security”, “global security”, “cooperative security”, “international security”,“economic security” and many others. Ever since the end of the Cold War, the concept of humansecurity began to appear more often in the speeches of scholars, policy makers and even the media.Despite the more frequent use, the concept of human security does not have a clear definition becauseit includes a variety of issues ranging from economic security to personal and political security.Generally speaking, human security defines the overall problems and challenges a person is facedwith. This paper is focused on revealing key aspects related to the concept of human security, itsdefinitions and approaches. Furthermore, the paper presents the risks and vulnerabilities to humansecurity, thus emphasizing the challenges for this field of study.
Turkey’s Road to European Union Membership
Adriana M?rg?rit
Acta Universitatis Danubius : Relationes Internationales , 2010,
Abstract: The possibility of Turkey to become member of the European Union has raised numerousdebates and concerns. Even the founding principle of unity in diversity seems to be challenged by thepossibility of Turkish accession as this country possesses several features that are different from therest of EU member states. Opinions related to Turkey EU membership are often divergent, each siderelying on their own arguments. Proponents argue that Turkey is a regional power with a largeeconomy and a strong military force that will enhance EU's position as a global geostrategic player.On the other hand, opponents emphasize the demographic projections which indicate that, in aroundten years, Turkey will become EU’s most populous state. They also draw attention upon Turkey’sdifferent cultural and religious background. Objectives: This paper is focused on revealing keyaspectsof EU-Turkey relations in the context of accession negotiations. Furthermore, the paperpresents the image of Turkey as a candidate country, emphasizing the opinion of officials but also theview of citizens, both from the European Union and Turkey. Approach: The paper is based onreviewing and analysis of existing research on the topic, including web-based documentation,statistics, press reports, EU reports.
Intercultural Encounters: Perceptions and Stereotypes The Western World Meets Islam
Adriana M?rg?rit
Acta Universitatis Danubius : Relationes Internationales , 2008,
Abstract: The world today seems more globalized than ever. Communication easily reaches peoplefrom the entire world. Transportation evolved and connects remote places from our planet. The worldis dynamic and the key-words of this picture are contact, interaction and diversity. In this newframework, intercultural communication plays an essential part because people are confronted withsituation they often don’t know how to handle. This paper presents the most common perceptions andstereotypes that the Western world holds in relation to the Islamic culture and civilization. Despite thefact that diversity is a universal aspect of international relations and of nowadays life, stereotypes areusually used to address the Other, to lighten the Unknown. The paper also highlights severalcharacteristic issues related to Islam in order to create the proper framework for analysis.
Renal elimination of organic anions in cholestasis
Adriana Mónica Torres
World Journal of Gastroenterology , 2008,
Abstract: The disposition of most drugs is highly dependent on specialized transporters. OAT1 and OAT3 are two organic anion transporters expressed in the basolateral membrane of renal proximal tubule cells, identified as contributors to xenobiotic and endogenous organic anion secretion. It is well known that cholestasis may cause renal damage. Impairment of kidney function produces modifications in the renal elimination of drugs. Recent studies have demonstrated that the renal abundance of OAT1 and OAT3 plays an important role in the renal elimination of organic anions in the presence of extrahepatic cholestasis. Time elapsed after obstructive cholestasis has an important impact on the regulation of both types of organic anion transporters. The renal expression of OAT1 and OAT3 should be taken into account in order to improve pharmacotherapeutic efficacy and to prevent drug toxicity during the onset of this hepatic disease.
