Abstract: the objective of this research was to study the effect of the following modifications on the traditional manufacturing process of prato cheese: use of milk concentrated by ultrafiltration (lcuf) up to a vcf=4:1; partial lcuf pre-fermentation; indirect curd cooking; on yield-(r), adjusted yield (raj) and fat (rgq) and protein (rpq) recovery on cheese, and comparison of the results with a standard cheese. three processings with five treatments each were realized, respectively: treatment 1-(t1), without ultrafiltration; treatment 2-(t2), ultrafiltration without lcuf pre-fermentation; treatment 3-(t3), 10% lcuf pre-fermentation; treatment 4-(t4), 20% lcuf pre-fermentation and direct curd heating; treatment 5-(t5), 20% lcuf pre-fermentation and the only one indirect curd heating. it was realized composition, yield, and component recovery for all five treatments, and the results statistically evaluated. treatments t2, t3, t4, and t5 presented lower values for r, raj and rgq, however, the pre-fermentation with indirect curd cooking presented a tendency of better values for rgq and raj. lower yields and rgs possibly resulted from the fibrous structure presented by these curds as well as due to the difficulty on cutting and handling them.

Sauleda Roig,J.;
Nutrición Hospitalaria , 2006,
Abstract: the function of respiratory muscles, and mainly inspiratorymuscles, is impaired in copd patients. most of these impairments are essentially due to pulmonary hyperinflation that puts these muscles in a disadvantageous situation. the main consequence of this dysfunction is respiratory muscle fatigue that may cause shortness of breath, exertion intolerance, and hypoventilation with onset of hypercapnic respiratory failure. this function may be measured at the pulmonary function laboratory by means of unspecific (spirometry, pulmonary volumes) or specific tests (maxim respiratory pressures [mip - m], transdiaphragmatic pressure, tension-time index of the diaphragm, electromyography, or endura tests). therapy should aim at improving hyperinflation with bronchodilator therapy, improving muscular strength with rehabilitation, and in severe cases muscle rest with mechanical ventilation. peripheral muscle dysfunction is a common complication in moderate-severe copd, and it may be the result of chronic inactivity, hypoxemia, electrolytic impairments, under nutrition, steroids, oxidative stress, and systemic inflammation. besides, it may contribute to patients' quality of life worsening, disability, and even an increase in morbimortality. it may tested by impedanciometry, muscle strength tests (dynamometry), imaging tests, and even muscle biopsy in research studies. peripheral muscle dysfunction is potentially manageable with rehabilitation, nutritional supplementation, and anabolic drugs. however, therapeutic success is often incomplete, so that further studies with new therapeutic strategies are needed.

Legitimidade e governabilidade na regula??o do sistema financeiro

Abstract: the relation between law and economics might result in an opposition between governability and legal-rational legitimacy, since they are based in different rationalities. judicial review of financial regulation shows that coflict, which is here analysed from the viewpoint of the constitutional jurisprudence of the brazilian supreme court (supremo tribunal federal - stf). in brief, the purpose of this article is to identify the oppostion between governability and the need for legal-legitimacy in the cases analysed by the court concerning financial regulation. the case studies show that the judicial review by stf has rejected economic aspects of the case, however it has preserved governability rationality with incoherent and contradictory decisions based on formal arguments. thereby, it is possible to identify the institutional role granted by stf to the brazilian constitution dated from 1988, considering the context of economic crisis experimented by brazil in the 80's and the 40th amedment.
Ideals of general forms and the ubiquity of the Weak Lefschetz property

Abstract: Let $d_1,...,d_r$ be positive integers and let $I = (F_1,...,F_r)$ be an ideal generated by general forms of degrees $d_1,...,d_r$, respectively, in a polynomial ring $R$ with $n$ variables. When all the degrees are the same we give a result that says, roughly, that they have as few first syzygies as possible. In the general case, the Hilbert function of $R/I$ has been conjectured by Fr\"oberg. In a previous work the authors showed that in many situations the minimal free resolution of $R/I$ must have redundant terms which are not forced by Koszul (first or higher) syzygies among the $F_i$ (and hence could not be predicted from the Hilbert function), but the only examples came when $r=n+1$. Our second main set of results in this paper show that further examples can be obtained when $n+1 \leq r \leq 2n-2$. We also show that if Fr\"oberg's conjecture on the Hilbert function is true then any such redundant terms in the minimal free resolution must occur in the top two possible degrees of the free module. Related to the Fr\"oberg conjecture is the notion of Weak Lefschetz property. We continue the description of the ubiquity of this property. We show that any ideal of general forms in $k[x_1,x_2,x_3,x_4]$ has it. Then we show that for certain choices of degrees, any complete intersection has it and any almost complete intersection has it. Finally, we show that most of the time Artinian ``hypersurface sections'' of zeroschemes have it.

Abstract: the recycling market of thermoplastic polymers is currently in a sharp increase. recycled materials are regarded as having inferior properties compared to the virgin material. here we investigated the viscoelastic and thermal properties of the recycled low density polyethylene (ldpe). the samples were reprocessed up to ten times under extreme processing conditions (300 °c/80 rpm) in a single screw extruder in order to evaluate structural changes in their properties. analyses were performed in an oscillatory rheometer with parallel plates and in a differential scanning calorimeter (dsc). from the analysis of the oscillatory rheometry, relaxation and retardation spectra were obtained upon applying a non-linear adjustment using a computational program (nlreg), while the kinetics parameters were estimated from the results of the first dsc heating using the avrami and freeman-carroll methods. from the rheological study we inferred that the samples reprocessed more than four times had an increase in complex viscosity, storage and loss moduli, also displaying wider relaxation and retardation phenomena. however, the dsc thermograms and the melt kinetic parameters showed that the ldpe studied maintained their thermal stability, regardless of the modification in their viscoelastic properties.
Analyzing Spatial Patterns of Cardiorespiratory Diseases in the Federal District, Brazil  [PDF]

Health (Health) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/health.2015.710143
Abstract: Cardiorespiratory diseases are a serious public health problem worldwide. Identification of spatial patterns in health events is an efficient tool to guide public policies in environmental health. However, only few studies have considered spatial pattern analysis which is considered the evaluation of spatial autocorrelation, degree of autocorrelation and dependence behavior in terms of distances. Therefore, the objective of this study is to propose a set of procedures to evaluate the spatial patterns of cardiorespiratory diseases in the Federal District, Brazil. Specifically, our proposal will be based on four questions: a) is the spatial distribution of all patients clustered, random or dispersed? b) what is the degree of clustering for either high values or low values of patients? c) what is the spatial dependence behavior? d) considering the spatial variation, at what distance does the type of distribution (cluster, random or disperse) begin to change? We chose four methods to answer these questions Global Moran’s I (question “a”); Getis-Ord General G (question “b”); semivariogram analysis (question “c”); and multi-distance spatial cluster-K-function (question “d”). Our results suggest that there is a different behavior for people up to 5 years old (cluster, p < 0.01), especially in distances below 2.5 km. For people above 59 years old, cluster is significant just in short distances (<200 m). For other age groups, the spatial distribution is basically random. Our study showed that it was possible to capture evidences of health disparities in the Federal District.

Ecolog?-a austral , 2003,
Abstract: the geomorphology of a fuegian andes watershed colonized by the introduced species castor canadensis has been analyzed. the main objective was to distinguish the physical conditions of the occupied streams. geomorphological analysis and mapping techniques were applied; also, colonization monitoring surveys in the entire watershed was made through terrestrial and aerophotogrametrical methods. were made aerial surveys during the autumn. streams of first and second order and low gradient (0-6o) were those chosen by castor canadensis for settlement. the higher-order streams were seasonally occupied, but restricted only to their secondary landforms. the northern part of the watershed is larger in size, drainage density and stream numbers; therefore, it offers more settlement possibilities. the rivers of the lateral hanging valleys were more densely occupied than those of the slope units. several of the conditions of rivers for castor canadensis settlement observed in tierra del fuego were similar to those observed in the northern hemisphere.
