CERNE , 2011,
Abstract: The major objective of this work was to identify and quantify forest fragments suitable to be used as private protected land in rural properties located in the S o Bartolomeu creek watershed, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The methodological procedures included: mapping of 78 forest fragments through the visual interpretation of an Ikonos II satellite image; delineation of Permanent Preservation Areas (PPAs) from a hydrographically conditioned digital elevation model and mapping of 292 rural properties through interviews with owners, with the aid of a printed Ikonos II image. The generated maps were overlapped (crossed), allowing the identification of forest fragments that could be used as private protected land in rural property. The result indicated that, from the total of properties evaluated, only 41 (14.04%) have more than 20% of forest cover, and therefore, are in condition to attend the environmental law for private protected land.

Abstract: the objective of this study was to map, automatically, the permanent preservation areas and to identify land use conflicts in s?o bartolomeu watershed, state of minas gerais brazil. using an ikonos ii orthoimage and geoprocessing resources, it was possible to map nine land use land cover classes through a visual interpretation. automatic mapping of the permanent preservation areas based on the brazilian forest code and the respective acts of conama resulted in the identification of 1,530.67 protected areas, distributed in the following categories: along ridgelines (1,037.32 ha), steep slopes greater than 45 degrees (5.51 ha), spring-waters and their contribution areas (436.06 ha), riparian zones (325.96 ha) and on upper third of hilltops (27.96 ha). this areas specially protected corresponded to 54.15 % of the total basin, which is 2,826.83 ha. it was identified 905.14 ha (59.70 %) of protected areas being illegally in agricultural business, with pasture with 40.06% (613.12 ha) and coffee with 7.12 % (109.02 ha), the predominant classes.

Abstract: after the huge development occurred during the last 30 years, including the proposition of methods such as magic-angle spinning, multiple-resonance experiments (cross-polarization, high-power decoupling, etc.), multiple-pulses techniques, multiple quantum experiments, and multidimensional spectroscopy, pulsed solid-state nmr became one of the most important experimental tools for studying physical and chemical properties of new materials in the solid-state. in this article we will review some of the nmr methods employed for studying an important class of solid materials: organic materials, particularly polymers and derivatives, which allow the application of a large number of different techniques for understanding their molecular dynamics and local conformation.

Abstract: This work had as an objective, to analyze, both physically and chemically, five olive tree varieties kept in the EPAMIG Germplasm Bank at the Experimental Farm, in the town of Maria da Fé, MG. Physical characteristics of the fruits and seeds (weight, diameter and length) and some chemical characteritics of the oils extracted from five varieties (acidity, iodine, saponification, peroxide indices and the fatty acid profile) were evaluated. The Negroa variety presented an average percent of lipids (28.2%) significantly higher than the others (p < 0.05). Out of the studied varieties, both Negroa and JB1 showed the highest yield and acidity values and the saponification, iodine and peroxide indices were more consistent with the ANVISA norms (2005) and the Codex Alimentarius (2003). All the varieties grown at Maria da Fé presented oleic acid levels within those recommended by Codex alimentarius and significantly higher than the analyzed commercial extra virgin oleic acid level (p < 0.05). The fatty acid profile found showed that all the varieties (JB1, Negroa, Ascolano 315, 0025 and 0004) have adequate values for the main groups of fatty acids, compared with the legislation. The results point out that the Negroa and JB1 varieties present better potential for use in olive oil production.

Abstract: This study has like purpose to confirm, statistically, through controlled experiments the contribution of Caiman crocodilus yacare for the nutrient cycling of the lake Baía das pedras, Pantanal de Poconé - MT. Studies with this focus, beginnings only on 90’s endings, on the lake, during dry phase were counted about 1000 individuals of Caiman crocodilus yacare on only 20.800 m2. On this period the productivity of the lake is very high in relation to high water period, when the water became transparent, being that the Caymans develop on that time a very important role. It was used for the experiment a captivity of 8x6 m, with only one exit for water. In the center of the captivity there is a pool with 4x2 m width and 30 cm of depth. The animal was putted after the stabilization of the limnological variables inside of the pool. It were collected 6 samples of water, being three before and three after of the presence of the Cayman. The Cayman with 2,18 m size, with 57,8 kg was feed every day, Just after the limnologicals determinations, with fresh fish of specie Prochilodus lineatus (including visceral parts). It were realized total nitrogen and phosphorous analyzes, ammonium, nitrate, nitrite and orthophosphate of the water collected from the pool. It was verified the important role of Cayman crocodilus yacare in the experiment and in the region where it leaves.

Abstract: zirconia (zro2) has shown great projection among the advanced ceramics, attracting the interest of researchers in its various fields of application. tetragonal zirconia presents high mechanical strength, but the room temperature stable phase is the monoclinic, being necessary the use of stabilizers for obtaining the tetragonal phase. in this work the rapid sintering of zirconia partially stabilized with rare earth oxides (zro2-otr), via 5 gpa high pressure is proposed. the sintering conditions employed in this work are innovative, due to the use of an alternative technology to process zro2-otr, so called high temperature - high pressure (hpht). a pressure of 5 gpa and temperatures of 1100, 1200 and 1300 oc for times of 2 and 5 min were used. the best results were obtained for samples sintered at 5 gpa at 1300 oc/5 min., where a micro-hardness of 488,73 kgf/mm2, a fracture toughness of 5,33 mpa.m?, a density of 97,88%, and a 88vol.% of tetragonal phase retained at room temperature were achieved.
