Rethinking the Third World Novel
Adelaida Lucero
Kasarinlan : Philippine Journal of Third World Studies , 1997,
Abstract: Third World fiction emanates from the Third World experience of exploitation, dehumanization and dislocation, shaped by the oppressive triad of geography, culture and history. As the author treats of the agonies, protestations and aspirations of file wretched of the earth, the novel revolves around two main complementary themes: protest and affirmation. The protest, which occurs in three levels, is directed externally or internally, against colonizers and minority power groups, and neocolonizers and sub-oppressors, respectively. The theme of affirmation comes in two forms: the assertion of a glorious past, culture, or civilization, and the affirmation of human dignity, fraternity and liberty. When these themes thus assault lie consciousness of the reading millions, the possibilities for collective social transformation become tremendous.

Abstract: with the defeat of the spaniards in boyacá on august 7, 1819, santafé, new granada's vice regal capital fell into the hands of colombian patriots, but the spanish state remained. viceroy sámano and the royal audience fled to take refuge in cartagena de indias, where they continued to rule. the conflict between sámano, a supporter of absolute power, and gabriel de torres, governor of cartagena, follower of liberal ideas, soon rose. the viceroy refused to swear the constitution of cadiz, restored in spain in 1820, so the governor, based on this constitution, deposed him and took political and military power. sámano went to cuba and torres became the sole and legitimate head of the spanish state. he defended bravely this final possession of the monarchy, until, besieged by the colombian army, commanded by mariano montilla, and at sea by josé padilla, was forced to surrender and hand over the stronghold to the colombians, on october 10, 1821. he sailed with his troops to cuba, never to return.
Los valores morales en la personalidad

Revista M??dica Electr?3nica , 2009,
Abstract: we present an article with the objective of analyzing the concept of moral value and exposing an approach from the point of view of several psychological systems: the behaviorism, the psychoanalysis, the cognitivism, the humanism, and the historic-cultural approach. the moral value is defined as the good, positive social signification in contraposition to the evil, orienting the man's attitude and behavior to the well doing, ordering his prejudices on moral life and the actions resulting from them. from the point of view of the psychology, the studies of the moral sphere have different approaches, beginning with the psychological system of precedence, dealing with the positions of the psychoanalytical, behavioral, cognitivist, and humanistic approaches. the process of values formation in the marxist psychology and pedagogy emerges from the historic-cultural approach, based on three principles: the one of the affective and the cognitive unity, expressing the recognition of the integral character of the human psychism; the one of the active reflection of the conscience, stating that the man in his development arrives to the moral autodetermination in a process that begins with his life, passing through different stages and assuming an active position; and the one of the relation between teaching and development that leads to the concept of proximal development zone, conceived as the distance between the development level, determined by the capacity of solving a problem in an independent way, and the level of potential development, determined by its resolution under the guidance of another person, more competent, extensive to the formative process.
