Abstract:
Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease whose global expansion gives it the characteristics of a pandemic. Diabetes risk factors are well known. In this work we proposed to study the role of genetic polymorphism of the eNOS G894T gene in the development of diabetes on the one hand and of these degenerative complications other. Methods: We conducted a prospective case-control study in which we included 200 subjects divided into 100 patients with type 2 diabetes and 100 controls in apparent good health. For each patient and control we measured lipid parameters, CRP-us and sought the G894T polymorphism of eNOS gene by PCR-RFLP. Results: The analysis of our results shows a statistically significant elevated TG values (p < 10﹣3), Lp (a) (p < 10﹣3), and CRP-us (p < 10﹣3) in type 2 diabetes compared with controls. The mutated genotypes of GT eNOS gene was significantly more frequent in diabetic patients. In our series, we did not notice any significant difference in genotype or allele frequency between diabetics with and without degenerative complications. Conclusion: The G894T polymorphism of eNOS gene appears to be a risk factor of T2DM. His role in the development of degenerative complications remains proved.

Abstract:
Introduction: Ischemic heart disease ranked among the leading causes of death worldwide. Several biological and genetic risk factors associated with acute coronary syndrome. By addressing the risk factors, it is possible to prevent most of the cardiovascular diseases and contribute to the reduction of complications of acute coronary syndrome. Material and Methods: Our study is a prospective study that was conducted to the main military hospital of instruction of Tunis. Recruitment involved 122 coronary (n = 122) and 705 controls (n = 705) totaling a population of 827 subjects. Data collection concerned socio-demographic characteristics, anthropometric measurements, habits and lifestyle, health status and biological assessment. Results: Our study reported a high prevalence of cardiovascular classic risk factor particularly overweight (62.3%), diabetes (63.1%) and hypertension (50%). In 55% of coronary patients, moderate to intermediate hyperhomocysteinemia was found, but it appears to be an independent risk factor. The results of our study show a significant difference in the genotypic frequencies of the C677T mutation in the MTHFR gene between the two populations, cases and controls. Conclusion: Acute coronary syndromes are the leading cause of sudden death in adults. The evaluation of risk factors after acute coronary syndrome episode is essential for a better management according to the recommendations of learned societies and standards of good practice.
Mineralogy and the Texture of the Basalt in Hail Region, Saudi Arabia  [PDF]

Open Journal of Geology (OJG) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/ojg.2014.45015
Abstract:

The study is carried out to list mineralogy and texture of the basalt in Hail region. The basalt flows belong to the Arabian Harrat volcanism. Cenozoic volcanism has produced 13, vast, basaltic fields in western Saudi Arabia, covering a total area of about 100,000 sq. km. The volcanism starts in the late Cretaceous time and continues periodically into the Holocene. The basaltic field presently investigated is known as Harrat Al-Hamad (or Harrat As-Shamah) which lies in northwestern Saudi Arabia, and continues northwards into Jordan. Mineralogical analysis of 20 rock samples indicates that the rocks are products of continental intra-plate magmatism; mostly as coarse-grained silica—under saturated olivine-rich alkali basalt. Mineralogical study shows that rocks are olivine, plagioclase, pyroxene, Nepheline and Opaque minerals. They correspond to alkali olivine basalts. Moreover, the main well-defined texture is intergranular, vesicular and amygdaloidal texture.

A Study on B-Spline Wavelets and Wavelet Packets  [PDF]

Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/am.2014.519287
Abstract: In this paper, we discuss the B-spline wavelets introduced by Chui and Wang in [1]. The definition for B-spline wavelet packets is proposed along with the corresponding dual wavelet packets. The properties of B-spline wavelet packets are also investigated.

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to study wavelet frame packets in which there are many frames. It is a generalization of wavelet packets. We derive few results on wavelet frame packets and have obtained the corresponding frame bounds.

Abstract: significant ethical and legal issues may arise in conjunction with the conduct of multi-site studies. for example, different cultures may have varying concepts of personhood. the united states, for instance, places significant emphasis on the autonomy of each individual, while many other societies rely to a greater degree on defining an individual with reference to his or her roles or relationships to others. these differing orientations may have implications for informed consent procedures and for the design of procedures to maintain confidentiality of the data and privacy of the participants. the development of procedures for the maintenance of confidentiality and privacy must also consider any differences in reporting requirements between the sites that relate to sexually transmitted diseases and child abuse. the implications of such differences for the conduct of multi-site studies are examined

The implications of such differences for the conduct of multi-site studies are examined En relación con los estudios multicéntricos pueden surgir aspectos éticos y legales. International Journal of Knowledge and Research in Management and E-Commerce , 2012,
Abstract: e-Marketing has a lot of benefits which add value to customers’ satisfaction in terms of better quality of service offerings the banks gain more competitive advantage over other competitors. The present empirical study focuses on identifying the key factors of e-marketing practices that have an adverse effect on the customers’ satisfaction. In this paper, two banks are taken under study i.e. HSBC (HongKong and Shanghai Banking Corporation) and J & K (Jammu & Kashmir Bank). In this paper respondents are selected through Random sampling; while the survey Instrument was a developed Questionnaire comprising questions based on Likert scale. The Likert scale has a 5 point scale (indicating 1 = Strongly Disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Neutral , 4 = Agree and 5 = Strongly Agree) divided into two (2) sections: personal details and customers’ opinion towards e-marketing through the medium of Internet banking, mobile banking and ATM (Automated Teller Machine). The instrument contained 12 items and was administered to about 200 respondents, while 157 completed and returned their Questionnaire. The statistical techniques used for the analysis were Independent sample Test. The Independent sample test revealed that the customer satisfaction of e–marketing practice offered by HSBC and J & K banks have significant influence on their customers at 95%. In this study the main focus is on the e-marketing practices which are prevailing in both the banks that is Internet Banking, Mobile Banking and ATM (Automated Teller Machine). Results of independent sample t-test shows that Internet Banking, Mobile Banking and ATM practices were most important factors in customer satisfaction in both the banks.
