Abstract: Installation of Distributed Generator (DG) is a well accepted method to improve power system operation from the point of reducing congestion and improving voltage profiles. For best results, Distributed Generators should be placed at strategic locations to exploit maximum benefits out of them. The (N-1) contingency criterion has been taken into account in this work. Most congested lines of the grids are ranked by congestion Index and considered to study the impact of DG penetration on congestion. The present paper proposes contribution factors of Distributed Generators for the placement of DG to keep the line flow within the capacity of each transmission line of the network. The results obtained from IEEE 30-bus test system indicate that the proposed methods are capable of identifying desirable DG location and its maximum allowable size. The influence of DG on bus voltage profile has also been demonstrated in this paper.

Abstract: A proposal for the path-integral of pure-spin-connection formulation of gravity is described, based on the two-form formulation of Capovilla et. al. It is shown that the resulting effective-action for the spin-connection, upon functional integration of the two-form field $\Sigma$ and the auxiliary matrix field $\psi$ is {\it non-polynomial}, even for the case of vanishing cosmological constant and absence of any matter couplings. Further, a diagramatic evaluation is proposed for the contribution of the matrix-field to the pure spin connection action.

Abstract:

Synthesis and characterization of a tri-layered solid electrolyte and oxygen permeable solid air cathode for lithium-air battery cells were carried out in this investigation. Detailed fabrication procedures for solid electrolyte, air cathode and real-world lithium-air battery cell are described. Materials characterizations were performed through FTIR and TGA measurement. Based on the experimental four-probe conductivity measurement, it was found that the tri-layered solid electrolyte has a very high conductivity at room temperature, 23C, and it can be reached up to 6 times higher at 100C. Fabrication of real-world lithium-air button cells was performed using the synthesized tri-layered solid electrolyte, an oxygen permeable air cathode, and a metallic lithium anode. The lithium-air button cells were tested under dry air with 0.1 mA - 0.2 mA discharge/ charge current at elevated temperatures. Experimental results showed that the lithium-air cell performance is very sensitive to the oxygen concentration in the air cathode. The experimental results also revealed that the cell resistance was very large at room temperature but decreased rapidly with increasing temperatures. It was found that the cell resistance was the prime cause to show any significant discharge capacity at room temperature. Experimental results suggested that the lack of robust interfacial contact among solid electrolyte, air cathode and lithium metal anode were the primary factors for the cell’s high internal resistances. It was also found that once the cell internal resistance issues were resolved, the discharge curve of the battery cell was much smoother and the cell was able to discharge at above 2.0 V for up to 40 hours. It indicated that in order to have better performing lithium-air battery cell, interfacial contact resistances issue must have to be resolved very efficiently.

Abstract: The properties of baryonic matter have been investigated at finite density and temperature using different models. The variation of baryon masses and fractional number densities with baryon density and temperature obtained from different models have been compared. The quark hadron phase transition have been studied using Chiral Colour Dieletric (CCD) model in the quark sector. No phase transition has been seen for the different variants of the Zimanyi-Moszkowski model. However, a phase transition is observed for the linear and non-linear Walecka model.

Abstract: The selection of optimum machining parameters plays a significant role to ensure quality of product, to reduce the manufacturing cost and to increase productivity in computer controlled manufacturing process. For many years, multi-objective optimization of turning based on inherent complexity of process is a competitive engineering issue. This study investigates multi-response optimization of turning process for an optimal parametric combination to yield the minimum power consumption, surface roughness and frequency of tool vibration using a combination of a Grey relational analysis (GRA). Confirmation test is conducted for the optimal machining parameters to validate the test result. Various turning parameters, such as spindle speed, feed and depth of cut are considered. Experiments are designed and conducted based on full factorial design of experiment.

Abstract: Background: The burden of diabetes is expected to increase by 58%, from 51 million people in 2010 to 87 million in 2030. In rural India the prevalence rate has increased from 1% to 4-10% over last 20 years. IDRS is a cost-effective & simple method for identifying undiagnosed diabetic subject at community level. Objectives: To find out the distribution of IDRS among the study population and to determine the association of IDRS with socio-demographic & anthropometric factors. Methods: This community based cross-sectional study was carried out in the rural practice area of (Daspara, Amdanga Block) Dept. of Community Medicine, R.G.Kar Medical College among 250 undiagnosed diabetic people aged ≥ 20 years in August’11 by using a predesigned & pretested schedule containing age, Physical activity, H/o Diabetes in family sex& waist circumference (IDRS component) and religion, SE status, , blood pressure and various anthropometric measurements. Results: Out of 250, 235 (94%) responded. 133(56.6%) were females & 102 (43.4%) were males. 108 (46%) had moderate risk (IDRS 30-50); 74(31.5%) had high risk (IDRS≥60) and 53(22.6%) had low risk (IDRS<30). In Multinomial Logistic Regression if low IDRS is compared with moderate IDRS female sex (OR-.183), BMI, hypertension (OR-.194) were found to be statistically significant and if low IDRS is compared with high IDRS female sex (OR-.202) , hypertension (OR-.13) & BMI were found to be statistically significant. By doing multinomial logistic regression hip circumference was also found to be statistical significantly associated with IDRS in both male and female. Conclusion: As the study finds that percentage of low IDRS is low among the three categories of IDRS, it is essential to implement the simple IDRS tool in the community for mass screening so that proper intervention can be carried out to reduce the burden of diabetes.
