Nuclear and Particle Physics applications of the Bohm Picture of Quantum Mechanics
A. Miranda
Physics , 2009, DOI: 10.1088/0031-8949/79/04/045201
Abstract: Approximation methods for calculating individual particle/ field motions in spacetime at the quantum level of accuracy (a key feature of the Bohm Picture of Quantum Mechanics (BP)), are studied. Modern textbook presentations of Quantum Theory are used throughout, but only to provide the necessary, already existing, tested formalisms and calculational techniques. New coherent insights, reinterpretations of old solutions and results, and new (in principle testable) quantitative and qualitative predictions, can be obtained on the basis of the BP that complete the standard type of postdictions and predictions.
Leaders Exhibiting High Emotional Intelligence Are More Dedicated to Their Job Performance  [PDF]
Donnisha Beverly, James A. Williams, Miranda Kitterlin
Open Journal of Leadership (OJL) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ojl.2012.14006
Abstract: The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of information technology leaders’ emotional intelligence on subordinate job performance. Participants consisted of information technology leaders, and were recruited from the Association for Information Technology Professionals (AITP) and the Information Technology (IT) Specialist group in LinkedIn (a business-oriented network website). A quantitative, correlational approach was taken by an online administration of two validated instruments—the Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQ-i) and Van Scotter and Motowidlo’s measures for contextual performance (interpersonal facilitation and job dedication). Findings indicated that there was a positive relationship between IT leaders’ emotional intelligence scores and subordinates’ job performance ratings. Specifically, higher IT leaders’ general mood scores, and optimism scores are associated with subordinates’ higher interpersonal facilitation and job dedication scores. Further, results provided insight on IT leaders’ EI training needs, career development, and guidelines for areas of improvement.
Buenos Aires, entre Eros y Tánatos: La prostitución como amenaza disgénica (1930-1955)
Miranda,Marisa A.;
Dynamis , 2012, DOI: 10.4321/S0211-95362012000100005
Abstract: this paper explores the medical-legal discourse around female prostitution that was articulated in buenos aires during the first decades of the 20th century. it focuses on the use of different ideological resources and on the policies and laws that were introduced to gain control over the sex trade and describes parallelisms between prostitution, disease and crime. in fact, the capital of argentina was internationally known as a centre of prostitution and white slave trafficking, and jewish participation in these activities allowed the consolidation of xenophobic theories. medicine and law, among other disciplines, made important inputs into a simplified approach to this problem.

Abstract: the purpose of this investigation is to contrast a model of analysis which allows us to come closer to the aspects that permanent training contributes to the teachers in professional terms. the impact produced by the abroad training program (pbe) on the professional self-esteem of the benefited teachers is analized. a quasi-experimental design was chosen, including a pre-test and a post-test, to articulate qualitative and quantitative procedures. the self-esteem scale by arzola y collarte (1992) was validated and applied to a sample of 352 primary school teachers in order to evaluate the professional self-esteem. the results revealed: a) significant differences before and after the pbe was carried out in relation to the professional self-esteem profile in the dimensions: i am, i feel and i do, exempting the self-criticism and vocation factors; and, b) the relations perceived among the dimensions allowed the clarification of a evaluating model that demonstrates the impact of the pbe on such competence

Abstract: this research tries to contribute a to looking well assessment to the process of construction of the social knowledge on the teachers' training considering the utility that this one can have for his professional development. concretely there sought to measure the validity of the instrument of quality index of the professional learning. the set of analysis allow to infer that of the instrument is reliable and consistent (a 0,89 of cronbach), which allows to evalúate the stability or changes caused by the permanent training; contributing this way to his national and international standardization, contributing relevant information to the discussion on the effective education.

Abstract: this article aims mainly at providing the construction process of the social knowledge about the abroad training program with a descriptive and comparative view. it also deals with the use fulness this could have for the professional development of primary school teachers in the country. in fact, this study weighs the impact of such program upon one of the teacher's modifiable professional competence, namely, the innovation in pedagogical practices
Interfacial instabilities in confined ferrofluids
Miranda, José A.;
Brazilian Journal of Physics , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-97332001000300013
Abstract: we investigate the flow of two immiscible, viscous fluids in the confined geometry of a hele-shaw cell. we consider that one of the fluids is a ferrofluid and that an external magnetic field is applied. the interfacial instabilities which arise between the fluids are studied for various situations: (a) different cell geometries (radial, rectangular); (b) frontal and parallel flows; (c) distinct applied field configurations (tangential, perpendicular, normal) and (d) motionless and rotating cells. the interplay between applied magnetic field and several other destabilizing/stabilizing factors in determining the interface behavior is analyzed. stability analysis and numerical simulations are used to describe linear and nonlinear stages of the interface evolution.
El Pin-Pin: entre lo ajeno y lo propio
Miranda,Ana Lía;
Cuadernos de la Facultad de Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales. Universidad Nacional de Jujuy , 2005,
Abstract: reading a cultural text ad type it is, not only allows to known the global conformation of a culture but can be the suitable route for the identification of the transformations that it can have experimented as well. the noa is culturalle characterized by the conservation of traditions ad ancient customs that contributed to the configuration of the idiosyncrasy ad cosmovision of ancient civilizations ad in one way or other they wew bwing transmitted from generation to generation. for this presentation there has been chosen a text originally characterized by the rite. a mixture of sacred ad profane cultural symbols simultaneously: the pin-pin of pure tribal root ad ceremonial features have been deposited in the oral memory ad can be recuperated from lotman's semiotic readinf in order to generate new communications. there has been picbed up a group of sayings in some towns of jujuy ramal ad capital city about pin-pin meaning in order to show its transculturalization after spanish arrival.
La Nueva Historia. Fuentes y documentación digitalizadas para la Historia de Espa?a en Internet
Alía Miranda,Francisco;
Cuadernos de historia de Espa?±a , 2009,
Abstract: this paper shows a brief information and analysis of the currently main digitalization projects about sources and documentation concerning the history of spain. they are being done by archives and digital libraries which have been spreading in the last years, and the ministry of culture, which is promoting and leading several of the most ambitious projects undertaken in spain. these projects provide funds of the main archives and libraries of the country due to cooperation agreements with regional governments, foundations and cultural institutions. the amount of digitalized material of all types (books, archival documents, newspapers, photographs, engravings, maps, legislation, etc.) is increasing in quantity and quality; and this is undoubtedly developing the methodology of historical research by offering the classical sources in a more convenient and flexible form for investigation, and other new sources that appeared thanks to the possibilities of internet.
