From the associative companies to the nuclei of rural entrepreneurs
Agronomía Colombiana , 2010,
Abstract: since the second half of the twentieth century, the impulse to the creation of rural associative organizations (raos) has become one of the main tools to implement rural development policies. however, most of these efforts have ended in failure, and have been marked by both the paternalism of the institutions and the lack of active participation from the rural communities. faced with this situation, other methodologies and approaches have started to emerge. these new views have provided rural people with tools to participate in their own development processes and recognize that rural issues go beyond agricultural production. the rural management and development research group in the department of agronomy at colombia's universidad nacional has been working within this conceptual framework that tends to focus not only on participatory methodologies, but also on gender focus, the new rural setting and the territorial development. the research group has been involved in rural areas of bogotá and cundinamarca, building proposals with the active participation from the nuclei of rural entrepreneurs as an alternative model to the conventional rural associative enterprise
"Parei na contram?o": faixas cruzadas na inven??o da MPB
Neder, álvaro;
Estudos Históricos (Rio de Janeiro) , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-21862012000100005
Abstract: in the studies about 1960's mpb, a hegemonic narrative was established, according to which mpb was a reactionary movement instituted "from above", while tropicália is idealized as the apex of musical evolution. identifying in this narrative problems like evolutionism and the ideology of national identity, this essay proposes a revision of the history of the period through the historic and ethnographic methods, using document analysis, interviews, and ethno/musicological song analysis. the conclusion is that popular participation was important to mpb, a contradictory terrain that produced complex identities, and put into question the mestizo ideology and patriarchal domination.

?Derecho a morir con dignidad?
Biomédica , 2008,
Abstract: the right to die with dignity is an ill-defined concept, with multiple, often inappropriate, interpretations. the current proposition is that the physician take full responsibility for protecting the patient?s rights, for ensuring a rational use of resources and for overseeing the decision-making process such that the information is adequate and the steps proportioned. this responsibility extends not only to the health status of the patient situation, to the patient?s prognosis, and to his/her expectations and wishes, but also to the benefits foreseen and to the cost-benefit ratio. emphasis is placed on two aspects of this relationship. first, dignity can be interpreted in many ways and sometimes, in the name of dignity, the patient is exposed (or exposes him/herself) to suffering, pain and complications that can be avoided. second, when no reasonable probability of survival is present and a better ?quality of life? is impossible, efforts are better redirected to offering a better quality of death.

Graeff, álvaro;
Ciência e Agrotecnologia , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-70542004000300026
Abstract: this research aimed at studying the economical effect of common carp (cyprinus carpio linnaeus, 1758) settling of fingerlings with differenciated density and with artificial feeding and chemical fertilization. the design was entirely randomized with three treatments (1; 0.5 and 0.33 fishes/m2) evaluated along the time and 3 repetitions. the fish were stocked with medium weight and mediun length of 2.40 g and 5.35; 5.40 and 5.39 cm, respectively, in the treatments, and 45 days old. the diets were formulated with 27% pb and 2.925 kcal/kg of ration, being given daily in the quantities of 3% of living weight. the results for the length and weight of the fishes were 25.68; 28.66 and 31.21 cm and 255.00; 424.00 and 519.66 g, respectively. the economical analisys was studied through cost planning. in the total production, the results were 1882; 1513 and 1367 kg/ha in a cycle. in similar conditions all the studied densities coud be zootechnically recommended. the economical profitability of the activity is growing with the increase of density and there is unitary or mediun cost decrease.
Cuadernos de Economía , 2004,
Abstract: the need for theoretical pluralism and the history of economic thought as the driving force behind such methodological perspective arises from current economics' lack of support and empirical justification. this article proposes a view of the history of economic thought adapted for fulfilling this function, given that perspectives concerning the history of economic thought are insufficient for fluffing such demands from an orthodox viewpoint.
