Knowledge and Rates of Use of Preschool Consultation by the Mothers in the Area of Health Tshitenge/Democratic Republic of Congo  [PDF]

Abstract:
Introduction: The postponement of the preventive activities of the Provincial Division of Health of East Kasai 2016 revealed que le level of attendance of the preschool consultation is decreasing less and less in the Health Area Tshitenge. Thus, this study set the goal of determining the knowledge and use of maternal pre-school counseling in the Health Area Tshitenge. Methods: The survey method was used by means of a questionnary administered to mothers in this region, but more specifically, we collected data from 422 mothers responsible for randomly selected children aged 0 to 5 in the four health. Results: After analysis and analysis of the data with the computer tool, we obtained the following results: the rate of use of the preschool consultation service is 60.7%; the level of education, occupation and the number of children under 5 years of age have a strong influence on the use of preschool counseling; lack of knowledge about the most important activity of preschool counseling has a negative influence on its use. There is a link between the use of the preschool consultation and the most important activity of the preschool consultation for the respondent; there is also a link between this and an appointment on the map; and finally, the cost judgment of SPC strongly influences its use. Conclusion: In order to raise this activity, the revitalization of preschool consultation activities in the Tshitenge health area, the reinforcement of the parents’ awareness on the use of preschool counseling from 0 to 59 months, and the revival of visits to homes for children whose mothers drop out of preschool counseling sufficient are a basis.
A CATT Negative Result after Treatment for Human African Trypanosomiasis Is No Indication for Cure

Abstract: Background Cure after treatment for human African trypanosomiasis (HAT) is assessed by examination of the cerebrospinal fluid every 6 months, for a total period of 2 years. So far, no markers for cure or treatment failure have been identified in blood. Trypanosome-specific antibodies are detectable in blood by the Card Agglutination Test for Trypanosomiasis (CATT). We studied the value of a normalising, negative post-treatment CATT result in treated Trypanosoma brucei (T.b.) gambiense sleeping sickness patients as a marker of cure. Methodology/Principal Findings The CATT/T.b. gambiense was performed on serum of a cohort of 360 T.b. gambiense patients, consisting of 242 primary and 118 retreatment cases. The CATT results during 2 years of post-treatment follow-up were studied in function of cure or treatment failure. At inclusion, sensitivity of CATT was 98% (234/238) in primary cases and only 78% (91/117) in retreatment cases. After treatment, the CATT titre decreased both in cured patients and in patients experiencing treatment failure. Conclusions/Significance Though CATT is a good test to detect HAT in primary cases, a normalising or negative CATT result after treatment for HAT does not indicate cure, therefore CATT cannot be used to monitor treatment outcome.

Abstract: As a discipline, software engineering is not as mature as other engineering disciplines, and it still lacks consensus on a well-recognized set of fundamental principles. A 2006 analysis surveyed and analyzed 308 separate proposals for principles of software engineering, of which only thirty-four met the criteria to be recognized as such. This paper reports on a further analysis of these thirty-four candidate principles using two sets of engineering criteria derived from: A) the engineering categories of knowledge defined by Vincenti in his analysis of engineering foundations; and B) the joint IEEE and ACM software engineering curriculum. The outcome of this analysis is a proposed set of nine software engineering principles that conform to engineering criteria.

Abstract: For software organizations needing ISO 9001 certification, including those that have adopted agile methodologies, it is important that their software life cycle processes be able to manage the requirements imposed by this certification standard. However, the user stories in the XP agile methodology do not provide auditors with enough evidence that certain steps and activities have been performed in compliance with ISO 9001. This paper proposes an extension to the user story, based on four sub processes related to the CMMI-DEV model: 1) identification of the source of the user story; 2) categorization of the non functional requirements; 3) identification of the user story relationships; and 4) prioritization of the user stories. These sub processes are aligned with the XP release planning phase, and enhance the ability of user stories to accumulate the information that is mandatory for achieving ISO 9001 certification.

Abstract:

The internal control process, which is designed to help an organization accomplish specific control objectives, is one of the most important processes, as it can determine whether or not the organization is in compliance with its internal or external requirements. Internal controls emerge from different perspectives. Currently, experts view and act on one control perspective at a time, which creates inefficiencies and duplication. This software engineering research is aimed at proposing a multiperspective framework for representing internal controls, in order to obtain a centralized and comprehensive view of all internal control mechanisms. To carry out this research, we also needed to represent the many different stakeholder perspectives of internal controls. Based on a literature review of mathematical and psychological analysis, we searched for the most suitable multiperspective representation of internal controls, and assessed the many representation options using the AHP (analytical hierarchical process) sensitivity analysis approach. This approach has been applied to a study group which has been called to answer to a questionnaire.

Abstract:

In many domains of science and technology, as the need for secured transmission of information has grown over the years, a variety of methods have been studied and devised to achieve this goal. In this paper, we present an information securing method using chaos encryption. Our proposal uses only one chaotic oscillator both for signal encryption and decryption for avoiding the delicate synchronisation step. We carried out numerical and electronic simulations of the proposed circuit using electrocardiographic signals as input. Results obtained from both simulations were compared and exhibited a good agreement proving the suitability of our system for signal encryption and decryption.

Abstract: In this work, we suggest a system for chaos-based encryption of electrocardiographic signals. It uses simple electronics organized around a colpitts chaotic oscillator. The system has been designed, implemented and tested. The encrypted signal has been decrypted and compared to the original ECG signal. Experimental results were analysed and proved encouraging.

Abstract: In this paper, we propose a new methodology to estimate the volatility of interest rates in the euro area money market. In particular, our approach aims at avoiding the limitations of market implied volatilities, i.e. the dependency on arbitrary choices in terms of maturity and frequencies and/or of other factors like credit and liquidity risks. The measure is constructed as the implied instantaneous volatility of a consol bond that would be priced on the EONIA swap curve over the sample period from 4 January 1999 to 21 November 2013. Our findings show that this measure tracks well the historical volatility since, by dividing the consol excess returns by our volatility measure. This removes nearly entirely excess of kurtosis and volatility clustering, bringing the excess returns close to an ordinary Gaussian white noise.

Abstract: In this paper, we assess how to recover the volatility of interest rates in the euro area money market, on the sole basis of the zero-coupon yield curve. Our primary result is that there exists an empirical regularity (linking rates and volatility) that takes a relatively simple mathematical form. We also show that the existence of such regularity cannot be explained by a reasoning based on the hypothesis of absence of opportunities of arbitrage since a continuous-time arbitrage-free model may produce instances of curves that are consistent with a continuum of level of volatilities. We exhibit an example for this.
