Castiel, Sissi Vigil
Psico , 2006,

From emptiness to the object: das Ding and the sublimation in Jacques Lacan. The aim is to clarify the Lacanian formulation that "sublimation raises an object to the dignity of the Thing". The hypothesis according to which das Ding, or the Thing, is what remains irrepresentable in the experience of satisfaction, what suffers from the signifier and can be related to the pure lack is developed and leads us to think sublimation as the construction of an object that express such opacity. To this end, examples from the courtly love literature and from works of art referred by Lacan in his approach of sublimation will be analyzed.

Sublimation: from the construction to the rescue of the concept. The sublimation concept was not developed by Freud in a single article, but was worked in several texts concerning other matters and in different times of his production, lacking both an organization of these fragments and the discussion of the contradictions found in Freud's theory. Lacan rescued the concept of sublimation in Freud's work, trying to prevent its reduction to a normative concept. This article aims to draw the construction of sublimation concept by Freud and to indicate the rescue of this concept produced by Lacan.
Os ideais e a sublima??o
Mijolla-Mellor, Sophie de;
Psicologia USP , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-65642010000300003
Abstract: the intention of this article is to relate the work of the sublimation with that of the constitution of the ideas that characterise the narcissistic economy of the freudian subject. based on the differentiation, highlighted by freud, between sublimation and idealization, the article aims to demonstrate in what manner the sublimate process approaches the work of breaking down the defence mechanism through humour. in sublimation, as with humour, are we witnessing the erecting of i in the self? while we elaborate the mourning for the idealized objects of childhood. the role of the death drive in the emergence of the creative process is also analysed.
Criatividade e sublima??o em psicanálise
Birman, Joel;
Psicologia Clínica , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-56652008000100001
Abstract: the aim of this paper is to oppose the concepts of sublimation (freud) and creativity (winnicott) in psychoanalysis, in order to point out that both, in spite of their theoretical differences, intend to give a solution to the same problem, that is, the relationship between the subject and the culture.
O ato criativo e o sujeito na sublima??o
Torezan, Zeila Facci;Aguiar, Fernando;
Psicologia em Estudo , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-73722011000400010
Abstract: this article aims to discuss the presence of the subject, in the psychoanalytical meaning, in the creative act through the sublimation. both the notions of creative act and sublimation are delimited, in freud and in lacan, in its articulation with the subject concept. being the sublimation a satisfaction way that prescinds of repression, the symptomatic passivity is replaced by the drive-movement activity, which gains a form in the creative act. in this moment the subject appears as the author in the act of producing his work. such act is done whereof and around the empty, in an inside relationship with ding the central and originary hole in the subjective constitution and without the mediator of the self or moral commitment. sublimation and creation are not subdued to the socially desirable or adaptable, but tied to the subject in all his intimacy and, at the same time, inapprehensible.
Humor, desidealiza??o e sublima??o na psicanálise
Kupermann, Daniel;
Psicologia Clínica , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-56652010000100012
Abstract: this article's main motivation is to demonstrate that the metapsychology of humor offers itself, in the freudian work, as a paradigm from which we can understand the operations at work in the process of sublimation. thus, we can notice that the associations between two traditional psychoanalytical problems - humor and sublimation - contribute to its explanation. the text emphasizes the process of de-idealization through humor - as well as the aspect of identification involved in its production -, the reference of dark humor to the condition of "orphan" which characterizes the modern individual, and the politics that accompany the announcement of an amusing word (and even the witz in general). finally, it demonstrates the affinity of humor to grotesque realism, widely analyzed by mikhail bakhtin, showing how, in enunciating humor, it is necessary to consider the role of joy, its driving force.
Sublima??o e puls?o de morte: a desfus?o pulsional
Metzger, Clarissa;Silva Junior, Nelson da;
Psicologia USP , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-65642010000300007
Abstract: the introduction of freud’s second drive dualism is conected to a series of changes in the understanding of sublimation. sublimation begins to present itself as the main cause of drive defusion, what leads to a paradox: for, if sublimation is the foundation of culture, it is also the cause of destructivity in this same culture. the death drive resulting from drive defusion has effects as much in each individual - as it is the case of social isolation and melancholy - as in the culture as a whole, as it is observed regarding to the primacy of image in contemporary society. this article aims to discuss some of the effects of defusionned death drive, understood as result of sublimation, mainly in respect to sublimation implied in literary creation.
