Salus Online , 2010,
Abstract: Haemagogus equinus Theobald 1903 (Diptera: Culicidae) in the campus of the Universidad de Carabobo. Valencia. Venezuela.Species of Haemagogus are the main vector of sylvatic Yellow Fever (YF). The immature phases breed in water-filled tree holes and bambu internodes; however, some species are found in artificialcontainers. We assessed the presence of medically important mosquitoes in an urban area. Traps were used in a riberine forest near the Sports Area of the University of Carabobo. A month later they were removed, and mosquito composition was determined. We reported the presence of Haemagogus (Haemagogus) equinus Theobald and other three species. This finding represents a potenciality forenzootic YF transmission, and the adaptation of such species to artificial breeding sites, which, in addition to the increment of aedine indexes, constitute a risk for the emergence of such arbovirus.

Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 1943, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02761943000400001
Abstract: in studying the material collected by the bolivian yellow fever service between 1933 and 1942, five new species of mosquitoes were encountered (rhynchoataenia) nitens [female], psorophora (janthinosoma) circumflava [female], psorophora (janthinosoma) melanota [male], psorophora (grabhamia) dimidiata [male] and [female], and aedes (howardina) aurivittatus [female]. in addition, new evidence bearing on certain species of haemagogus has been presented and discussed. on the basis of this evidence, the validity of h. capricornii is confirmed, while h. spegazzinii brethes, formerly considered synonymous with h. equinus theob., is revalidated. h. janthinomys dyar. futhermore, is shown to be synonymous with it. illustrations are presented for the first time of the male genitalia of h. capricornii and h. uriartei, and also of a new aspect of the female genitalia of haemagogus, taking as a character the frequency of the number of setae of the ninth tergite, comparative figures for which are given. finally, notes are presented on the geographical distribution of the theree species of haemagogus considered.

Abstract: in 2000, an outbreak of sylvatic yellow fever possibly occurred in gallery forests of the grande river in the paraná basin in the northwestern region of s?o paulo state. the aim of this study was to obtain information on the bionomics of haemagogus and other mosquitoes inside tree holes in that area. eighteen open tree holes were sampled for immature specimens. adults were collected twice a month in the forest in santa albertina county from july 2000 to june 2001. the seasonal frequency of fourth instars was obtained by the williams geometric mean (mw), while the adult frequency was estimated either by hourly arithmetic or the williams' means. cole's index was applied to evaluate larval inter-specific associations. among the ten mosquito species identified, the most abundant was aedes terrens walker followed by sabethes tridentatus cerqueira and haemagogus janthinomys dyar. larval and adult abundance of these species was higher in summer than in winter. although larval abundance of hg. janthinomys peaked in the rainy season, correlation with rainfall was not significant. six groups of larval associations were distinguished, one of which the most positively stable. the hg. janthinomys and ae. terrens association was significant, and limatus durhamii theobald was the species with most negative associations.

A superfície do retículo cori nico n o apresentou rugosidades.

Acta Chirurgica Iugoslavica , 2006, DOI: 10.2298/aci0604021c
Abstract: Equinus deformity of the foot presents a great number of difficulties to ambulant patients with cerebral palsy. Non-operative treatment of the incorrectible - fixed equinus is not successful. Many procedures are applied to treat it operatively, so its not clear which procedure at what age is the most successful. The purpose of this manuscript is to clarify the issue. The results of four procedures are analyzed: aponeurectomy of m. gastrocnemius, Achilles tendon lengthening by z-plasty, a combination of these two procedures and sliding elongation of m. triceps surae. The analysis was based on 417 operations in 291 patients of the average age of 9 years (1-64). The average follow-up was 7 years. The assessment of the results was based on the visual evaluation of the gait, on pedoscope prints and on comparison of ankle movements before and after operation. The analysis shows that the best results were achieved by sliding elongation of m. triceps surae after the age of 7.
