I folow you everywhere ": Passion and aguante in a Hinchada of the inner country club  [cached]

This paper presents an analysis of the logic of the behavior of football supporters of Club Atlético Aldosivi based on fieldwork carried out among them. The ritual of travel of the hinchada (fan base) appears as a key ethnographic and theoretical resource in explaining the representations that football supporters put in play in their daily struggle to define their own identity. Argentinean hinchadas (fans) construct, in the routine of their journeys to away games, rites of institution that permit them to renew the passionate contract with their beloved team. In these travels, they form a festive atmosphere in which the consumption of substances such as marihuana and alcohol guide them to a sense of belonging to an exclusive universe ruled by different passions and aguantes. Those who experience these rituals consider themselves to be true hinchas, compared to the others who are not able to follow the team everywhere. This is a crucial point because to be part of the visiting team "wherever the team may play, enduring all" (se juegue donde se juegue, aguantándosela) is one of the central points of the masculine honor of the fans. As liminal situations, these rites constitute both a passage and an identificatory institution.

Alabarces, Pablo;Zucal, José Garriga;Moreira, María Verónica;

Abstract: this work analyzes the meanings given to violent actions by the members of argentine football fans groups (hinchada) through the category of aguante. these are part of a "way of being" that both defines and distinguishes them, and constitutes a complex system of honour and prestige that valorates positively the courage, the bravery and the surrending in a physical confrontation. from a simplistic and stigmatizing analysis, like the one of the media and the common sense, these actors and their practices are conceived as "violent" because they execute and give a positive value to different actions that are beyond the "acceptable". however, and paradoxically, there are moral principles that define what is allowed and what is forgiven, the fair and the unfair in a violent act. discovering and analyzing these limits allows us to study the constitution of a social space where these practices are accepted, and also to analyze the relationships with another actors that are beyond that space but are related with the members of the hinchada; that means they also "negociate" their moral code with the actors outside their boundaries.

In this paper, the uses and representations of bodies in a football hinchada (fan base) is analyzed on the basis of the articulation that those supporters make between body ideals, male models, and practices of bodily confrontation. This articulation results in the construction of a particular sense of community based on and through bodily experience. The body itself, fighting against rivals and friends, is the tool that allows identification with a group of peers; the action, the practice, is the element that defines the group's membership. The existence of identifications and the construction of collectives that are centered on practices and actions are thus analyzed. The discourses of identity that create and re-create "others" and "us" have different dimensions: narrative, gestural, bodily, and written (among others). The expressive forms of a group of football spectators are proposed as the means to analyze how some social groups prioritize the body and the experience that is anchored in it in their configuration of identificatory models.

Abstract: una virus (unav), togaviridae family, is widely distributed in south america, where infections have been detected in mosquitoes and vertebrate hosts (humans, birds and horses). we analyzed human sera from córdoba inhabitants aged 44 to 89 years and using a neutralization test, we found a prevalence of unav antibodies of 3.8% (3/79). the low titers detected suggest past infections probably acquired in rural areas of the province of córdoba (central argentina). none sera were found positive for mayv neutralizing antibodies. this is the first report of human infections by unav in argentina.
