Abstract: this work was conducted to determine the occurrence of trichogramma wasp species in lara state, venezuela. lepidopteran egg samples collected from various crop leaves were observed daily under laboratory conditions for emergence of trichogramma species adult wasps. trichogramma were also obtained from traps containing eggs from the hosts sitotroga cerealella (olivier) (lepidoptera: gelechiidae) and spodoptera frugiperda (j. e. smith) (lepidoptera: noctuidae). in the laboratory, specimens of trichogramma species were mounted on microscope slides to show male genitalia and other morphological characters used for its identification. trichogramma atopovirilia oatman y platner emerged from s. frugiperda eggs collected in a cornfield at la palomera, humocaro alto and at el parchal, humocaro bajo, municipio morán. t. atopovirilia also emerged from s. frugiperda eggs collected in a cornfield at sabana grande and from s. cerealella eggs used as traps in a pepper culture at tintinal, municipio andrés eloy blanco. t. exiguum pinto y platner emerged from s. frugiperda eggs used as traps or collected in cornfield at totumito and at la palomera, humocaro alto. t. pretiosum riley emerged from phthorimaea operculella zeller eggs collected on stored potatoes at monte carmelo, sanare. the identification of trichogramma species in lara state would be useful in the development of biological control programs for lepidopteran pests.

Abstract: lepidoptera defoliators are important pests of eucalyptus. this research aimed to evaluate the potential of trichogramma acacioi and trichogramma pretiosum (hymenoptera: trichogrammatidae) to control the eucalyptus defoliator oxydia vesulia (lepidoptera: geometridae). biological parameters and parasitism rate of trichogramma on eggs of o. vesulia were evaluated under laboratory conditions. trichogramma pretiosum did not parasitized eggs of o. vesulia but more than 93% of t. acacioi females parasitized eggs of this defoliator, showing its potential for the biological control of this lepidoptera.

Abstract: Two egg parasitoid wasps, Trichogramma euproctidis (Girault) and Trichogramma brassicae (Bezdenko) (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) were identified in the study. The taxonomy of these wasps is problematic because of their small size and lack of distinguishable morphological characters. The DNA sequence variation from the internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS2) region of nuclear ribosomal DNA (rDNA) was analyzed from these two Trichogramma species. This technique provides quick, simple and reliable molecular identification of Trichogramma species.

Abstract: Erinnyis ello (Lepidoptera: Sphingidae) is one of the main cassava crop pests and, among its natural enemies, the egg parasitoid Trichogramma (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) is the most important. This research records the occurrence of Trichogramma manicobai, Trichogramma marandobai, and Trichogramma pretiosum on E. ello eggs found in cassava crops, in Mato Grosso do Sul State, Brazil. Abstract: Los lepidópteros defoliadores son importantes plagas de Eucalyptus. El objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar el potencial de Trichogramma acacioi y Trichogramma pretiosum (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) para controlar el defoliador del eucalipto Oxydia vesulia (Lepidoptera: Geometridae). Los parámetros biológicos y la tasa de parasitismo de Trichogramma en huevos de O. vesulia fueron evaluados en condiciones de laboratorio. Trichogramma pretiosum no parasitó esta especie, pero más de 93% de las hembras de T. acacioi presentaron parasitismo en los huevos de este defoliador, mostrando su potencial para el control biológico de este lepidóptero. Abstract: the objective of this work was to evaluate the parasitism capacity of trichogramma pretiosum riley and t. acacioi brun, moraes and soares (hymenoptera: trichogrammatidae) in eggs of the alternative host sitotroga cerealella (olivier) (lepidoptera: gelechiidae) aiming to use both species in biological control programs of nipteria panacea tierry-mieg (lepidoptera: geometridae). the parasitism rhythm and total parasitism of these parasitoid species were affected by the temperature with higher values during the first 24 h of their life. parasitism period was longer for t. pretiosum and t. acacioi at the lowest temperature.

Abstract: the objective of this work was to assess the flight capacity, parasitism and emergence of trichogramma atopoviriliaand two strains of t. pretiosum (hymenoptera: trichogrammatidae) (l1 and l2). the flight capacity of these species was assessed in test units consisting of a plastic pvc cylinder with a rigid transparent plastic circle on the upper part and an extruded polystyrene disk closing its bottom. a tube was placed in each test unit containing a card with 300 anagasta kuehniella (lepidoptera: pyralidae) eggs parasitised by trichogramma. these cards were assessed to determine the parasitism rate and adult emergence of these natural enemies. t. atopovirilia and t. pretiosum l1 presented adequate flight capacity and parasitism, in addition to high percentages of adults emerged.
