DOSTOEVSKY AND THE QUESTION OF THE DOUBLE  [PDF]
Carolina Detoni Marques Vieira
Psicanálise e Barroco em Revista , 2010,
Abstract: The proposal of this article is to approach in Dostoevsky, author strongly marked by the amazing realism and complexity of yours characters that, without exaggeration, developed him as a writer of the human abyss, the question of the double. For this, The Double itself, 1846, will divide the attention with anothers Dostoevsky’s important works that add so much to the discussion. The Dostoevsky’s dramatic face to the dichotomy make possible to approach this issue as a dostoevsky’s motif that bring so much of your literary stile and your own thought, here, remited to the freudian text, The Estrange, 1919.
Between Napoleon and Jesus Christ: The adventures of the "Russian soul" in Dostoevsky's work  [cached]
Tatiana Bubnova
Bakhtiniana: Revista de Estudos do Discurso , 2011,
ABSTRACT: This is an analysis of the two components of the “Russian soul” highlighted in the Dostoevsky’s novels: Napoleonism and Christology. The origins of both of them can be found in the Western history and civilization. There is a certain paradox in the fact that the evolution of these two lines in the oeuvre of the great Russian writer arrives to an approachof the two types, the Napoleonic one and that of the follower of Christ, especially in The Idiot. A revision of the “Russian soul” under the light of the most recent interpretations of Russian critics discovers new intertexts and opens Dostoevsky’s text to a renewed identity dialogue. This paper is influenced by Bakhtin’s philosophical anthropology and philosophy of language.

Abstract:In this text, we will attempt to discuss the marks left by the reception of Liev Vigotsky's work into the pedagogical field in general and particularly of Argentina during the 80s and 90s. A selection of categories will be presented, as well as the ways in which these were approached. The decision to elaborate on Liev Vigotsky s work –as well as on Jean Piaget s– from the approach of its introduction into the Argentinian pedagogical field is based on the fact that the former was discussed in the 80s and 90 in relation to the latter and both placed within the wide spectrum of views labeled during that decade as “constructivism”.

Arquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0004-282X2005000600034
Abstract: stendhal?s syndrome occurs among travelers when they encounter a work of art of great beauty. it is characterized by an altered perception of reality, emotional disturbances, and crises of panic and anxiety with somatization. the patient profile described originally for this syndrome was of particularly sensitive individuals who were admirers of works or art: artists, poets, writers and art students, among others. the russian writer fyodor mikhailovich dostoevsky suffered from epilepsy and there is evidence that he presented the symptoms of stendahl?s syndrome while contemplating some works of art, particularly when viewing hans holbein?s masterpiece, dead christ, during a visit to the museum in basle.
DOSTOEVSKY'S CONCEPT OF HOLY BODY IN THE STRUCTURE OF "THE BROTHERS KARAMAZOV" (RELIGIOUS AND AESTHETIC ASPECTS)
Natalia Zhivolupova
Macabéa : Revista Eletr?nica do Netlli , 2012,
Abstract: The problem of the aesthetic and philosophical significance of the body in Dostoevsky’s creative writing is intimately connected with the structure of his formally intricate novels. The inner structure of Dostoevsky's novels illuminates the representation of the body in his opus as an innate part of Dostoevsky's poetics. The concept of the body includes an aesthetic as well as philosophical spectrum of problems, to which the interest in the topic from both literary critics and philosophers attests.

Personalidade e conduta violenta  [PDF]
Gauer, Gabriel José Chittó
Civitas , 2001,
Excitatory neurotransmitters in brain regions in interictal migraine patients

Molecular Pain , 2009, DOI: 10.1186/1744-8069-5-34
Abstract: 2D J-resolved proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS) data were acquired at 4.0 Tesla (T) from the ACC and insula in 10 migraine patients (7 women, 3 men, age 43 ± 11 years) and 8 age gender matched controls (7 women, 3 men, age 41 ± 9 years).Standard statistical analyses including analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed no significant metabolite differences between the two subject cohorts in the ACC nor the insula. However, linear discriminant analysis (LDA) introduced a clear separation between subject cohorts based on N-acetyl aspartylglutamate (NAAG) and glutamine (Gln) in the ACC and insula. These results are consistent with glutamatergic abnormalities in the ACC and insula in migraine patients during their interictal period compared to healthy controls. An alteration in excitatory amino acid neurotransmitters and their derivatives may be a contributing factor for migraineurs for a decrease in sensitivity for migraine or a consequence of the chronic migraine state. Such findings, if extrapolated to other regions of the brain would offer new opportunities to modulate central system as interictal or preemptive medications in these patients.Migraine is a neurobiologic disorder that affects about 27 million women and 10 million men in the US [1]. Migraine attacks manifest themselves from childhood (usually 8–12 yrs.) to old age, with a decline among women during the postmenopausal years. Migraine is a unilateral throbbing headache that lasts 4–72 hours; it is idiopathic, episodic and recurrent [2]. Although the causes of migraine are unknown, it is generally thought that the pain originates from chemical activation of sensory nerves that supply intracranial blood vessels and the meninges [3]. However, the long-term consequences of repeated intermittent attacks of acute migraine on brain function, whatever the origin of the syndrome is, are not well defined. Two major unanswered questions in the field of migraine relate to (1) Is there an underlying basis for the
Automated Epilepsy Diagnosis Using Interictal Scalp EEG  [PDF]

Computer Science , 2009,
Abstract: Approximately over 50 million people worldwide suffer from epilepsy. Traditional diagnosis of epilepsy relies on tedious visual screening by highly trained clinicians from lengthy EEG recording that contains the presence of seizure (ictal) activities. Nowadays, there are many automatic systems that can recognize seizure-related EEG signals to help the diagnosis. However, it is very costly and inconvenient to obtain long-term EEG data with seizure activities, especially in areas short of medical resources. We demonstrate in this paper that we can use the interictal scalp EEG data, which is much easier to collect than the ictal data, to automatically diagnose whether a person is epileptic. In our automated EEG recognition system, we extract three classes of features from the EEG data and build Probabilistic Neural Networks (PNNs) fed with these features. We optimize the feature extraction parameters and combine these PNNs through a voting mechanism. As a result, our system achieves an impressive 94.07% accuracy, which is very close to reported human recognition accuracy by experienced medical professionals.
