Nelson Rodrigues escribe como mujer
Luque, Cecilia Inés;
Cadernos Pagu , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-83332012000100012
Abstract: rodrigues signed his heteronym's name - suzana flag- on the autobiographical melodrama minha vida [my life]. the masked authorship and the transvestite enunciation of this text naturalize the ideological effects of the love story, but also poses -perhaps unintentionally- a critical view of the related process of producing a feminine subjectivity and a parody of the resulting ideal of woman. the analysis of the contradictory characteristics of this text reveals the limitations of the category of "women's literature" and suggests the pertinence of replacing it with that of "writing like (or as) a woman".

Dias, ?ngela Maria;
Alea : Estudos Neolatinos , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S1517-106X2005000100007
Abstract: written from the point of view of the common man, nelson rodrigues' chronicle founds a bordering voice between the trivial and the singular and realizes an antiintellectualistic profession of faith. the city of rio de janeiro, the most well-known brazilian landscape during the sixties and seventies, works as the protagonist in every nelson rodrigues text and the use of language is intended to recreate its sites. the artist unfolds his totalizing imagination in symmetrical and opposite dimensions: the pornographical and the mystical. in a renewed praxis of the totalizing thoughts, the reactionary's dramatization in brazilian public sphere of the sixties constitutes a ritualistic response to the idealizations of the leftist revolutionary, a common figure on that period.

Gusm?o, Henrique Buarque de;
Sociedade e Estado , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-69922008000100004
Abstract: this work proposes a reading of nelson rodrigues' dramaturgy having in mind some issues that permeate the theatrical field in the second half of the xx century, the author's position in face of them and the theatrical project that he explains in his texts. inside a cultural field marked by intense social and political fights, nelson rodrigues produces his plays focussing on theatre's purifying and redeeming functions. in opposition to a whole stream of political engaged theatre, the proposed dramaturgy is infested with intense characters (both in their expression and in their sexual repression) whose function would be to purge the audience. that kind of bet on a sense and value for the theatre occurs from some alliances, such as, for example, to gilberto freyre's sociology. reader and profound admirer of the sociologist, nelson appropriates, for his theatrical project, various elements of the said sociology, such as excessive violence, physical, sexual and sensual (marks of hybris), as well as the analysis of imported civilization patterns, which also impose themselves by violent repression. the tension between elements of immoderation and of discipline generates a series of characters, situations and struggles, which permeate the works and may also be considered as elements of a strategic alliance.
