Evaluation and Improvement of Roundabouts in Changchun  [PDF]

In Changchun, China, roundabouts are fairly common. They are often designed to connect the main roads because of their ability to reduce conflict points, making them safer than other intersections. They can also beautify the city when the central islands are landscaped. However, with increasing traffic, they may not function well and may even paralyze the road network. This means that it is important to evaluate the performance of roundabouts promptly, and to make necessary improvements if required. Using several roundabouts in Changchun as case studies, this article uses V/C ratio and delay to evaluate roundabout performance. Based on the result of evaluation, the micro-simulation model of the poorly-performing roundabout is built and enhancement is proposed.

Abstract: The comfort satisfaction of basic facilities of the rail transit transfer station will influence pedestrian choice of vehicle. Aiming at the problem of traffic jams in Changchun in China, we designed a satisfaction questionnaire to investigate the factors which might affect the pedestrian satisfaction in rail transit transfer station in Changchun. By using the statistical methods, including correlation analysis, factor analysis and comparative analysis of satisfaction and importance, we analyzed the survey data, and get the results of analysis. Some suggestions for rail transit transfer station based on the results are given.

Abstract: This essay periodizes Changchun’s urban history from 1800 to the 1950s according to its major city functions in order to contextualize coauthor Xinying Wang’s remarkable personal collection of visual materials presented in the accompanying "Cross-Currents photo essay" (https://cross-currents.berkeley.edu/e-journal/photo-essay/392?page=0) and, in turn, to contribute to a better understanding of Changchun’s urban transformation between the turn of the twentieth century and the early years of Maoism. In each phase of Changchun’s urban development, modernity found different forms in the construction of the city, revealing that modernity is neither constant nor secluded from the larger political and cultural milieu. Influenced by both indigenous and foreign factors, modernity is constantly reinvented to fit into new contexts and to meet new needs.
CFTR Polymorphisms of Healthy Individuals in Two Chinese Cities—Changchun and Nanjing  [PDF]

Abstract: Background and Aim Mutations in the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene, which encodes a chloride channel, cause cystic fibrosis. In order to investigate the polymorphic backgrounds of CFTR genes of healthy populations in different Chinese cities (Changchun and Nanjing), we analyzed 119 blood samples (Changchun 64, Nanjing 55) of randomly selected healthy individuals for poly T, TG-repeats and M470V polymorphisms. We analyzed the differences of CFTR polymorphic distributions between the two Chinese cities from the south and the north. Methods Genomic DNA was extracted from whole blood. DNA fragments of CFTR gene were amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Poly-T and TG repeats were directly sequenced by auto sequencer (ABI 310). M470V was detected by a HphI restriction enzyme. Results The T7 allele was the most common haplotype in Changchun (0.938) and Nanjing (0.927) populations. The T5 allele was present in only 7 Changchun and 3 Nanjing subjects. The TG11 and TG12 alleles were dominant haplotypes in Changchun (TG11 0.500, TG12 0.453) and Nanjing (TG11 0.345, TG12 0.609). The frequency of the V470 allele was 0.633 in Changchun, which was higher than that in Nanjing (0.500) (p<0.05). There were three major haplotypes: T7-TG11-V470, T7-TG12-M470 and T7-TG12-V470. The T7-TG11-V470 was the most common haplotype in Changchun (0.514), while T7-TG12-M470 was the most common haplotype in Nanjing (0.500). Conclusion Though Changchun and Nanjing are in the same country, their polymorphic backgrounds of CFTR gene are very different. Most of the two populations have genotypes that cause lower CFTR function.
Industrial Integration in Changchun and Jilin City Based on the Similar Coefficients of Industrial Structure  [PDF]

This paper primarily calculates the similar coefficients of the industrial structure in Changchun and Jilin City, the results show that the similarity of the three industries in the two cities is high, but the similarity of the subdivided manufacture industries is low. We also find evidence that the conditions for the industrial integration of the two cities are improved. The paper also explores the reasons for the current situation of the industrial integration in Changchun and Jilin city, then propose the measures to develop the industrial integration.

Abstract: A location must establish its own competitive advantages to meet the demand of global economy age, therefore, first, this paper brings forward the definition of competitive advantage of locations. Second, China is changing from industrial society to knowledge society, so the competitive advantage of locations for Chinese industries have the cross-characteristics of the two societies, which is globally representative. On the base of the deep influences of Transnational Corporations on automobile industry, the paper analyzes the competitive advantage of locations for automobile industry and points out the index system of that. Finally, it takes Changchun, in which there is the largest automobile enterprise FAW (First Automobile Works) in China, as the example to give out the way how to establish competitive advantages of locations.

Abstract: 目的探讨医疗机构医生对肺结核患者转诊效果的影响,为制定结核病防治策略提供参考。方法选择肺结核患者转诊到位率低的两个县作为干预县和对照县,干预县由责任医生对需转诊的肺结核患者按项目设计要求进行转诊前的健康教育,对照县维持原工作模式不变;分别对两个县医疗机构报告的150例肺结核患者进行问卷调查。结果干预县肺结核患者转诊到位率由干预前的23.8%提高到66.7%(χ2=83.7,P2=19.38,P2=53.7,P结论转诊医生对肺结核患者转诊前的健康教育是提高转诊到位率的重要措施之一,但转诊医生的健康教育水平还有待进一步提高。
