Applications of Parallel Processing in Mobile Banking  [PDF]
Felician ALECU
Informatica Economica Journal , 2007,
Abstract: The future of mobile banking will be represented by such applications that support mobile, Internet banking and EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) transactions in a single user interface. In such a way, the mobile banking will be able to cover all the types of applications demanded at the market level. The parallel processing of credit card bank transactions could be performed with the help of a grid network. Excluding some limitations, the grid processing offers huge opportunities to exploit the parallelism. For this reason, a lot of applications of waiting queues in grid processing were developed in the last years. Grid networks represent a distinctive and very modern field of the parallel and distributed processing.
Evaluating socio-economic state of a country analyzing airtime credit and mobile phone datasets  [PDF]
Thoralf Gutierrez,Gautier Krings,Vincent D. Blondel
Computer Science , 2013,
Abstract: Reliable statistical information is important to make political decisions on a sound basis and to help measure the impact of policies. Unfortunately, statistics offices in developing countries have scarce resources and statistical censuses are therefore conducted sporadically. Based on mobile phone communications and history of airtime credit purchases, we estimate the relative income of individuals, the diversity and inequality of income, and an indicator for socioeconomic segregation for fine-grained regions of an African country. Our study shows how to use mobile phone datasets as a starting point to understand the socio-economic state of a country, which can be especially useful in countries with few resources to conduct large surveys.

—An Empirical Study Based on KMV Model
 [PDF]

Zheng Zhao, Yue Lan, Xiaoyu Wu
Journal of Mathematical Finance (JMF) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/jmf.2016.65054
Abstract: Due to the birth of the age of Big Data and the development of Internet finance, electronic banking has been booming. With the application of descriptive statistics, KMV model, panel data regression and robustness testing, this paper examines the validity of KMV model as a measurement of the credit risk of financial institutions, and reveals the impact of electronic banking on the credit risk of commercial banks. The findings are as follows: First, the default distance based on the KMV model can well reflect the credit risk of banks; Second, the growing electronic banking may increase the credit risk, considering the lack of governmental and industrial regulation; At last, the credit risk of banks under different systems have their unique characteristics, so that a clearly defined division of responsibilities for risk control and supervision is needed.
UNIVERSAL BANKING AND CREDIT RISK: EVIDENCE FROM TUNISIA  [cached]
HAKIMI Abdelaziz,KHLAIFIA Wafa
International Journal of Economics and Financial Issues , 2012,
Abstract: The aim of this paper is to study the effect of universal banking on the Tunisian banking credit risk. By using a sample of Tunisian banks over the period 1980-2010 and based on the panel data analysis method, results show that the universal banking increases significantly the credit risk. However, the level of competition is positively correlated but not significantly with the dependant variable. For the macro variables, we find that only the GDP exerts a positive and significant effect on the credit risk, but the effect of the inflation variable is not significant.
Banking retail consumer finance data generator - credit scoring data repository  [PDF]
Karol Przanowski
Quantitative Finance , 2011,
Abstract: This paper presents two cases of random banking data generators based on migration matrices and scoring rules. The banking data generator is a new hope in researches of finding the proving method of comparisons of various credit scoring techniques. There is analyzed the influence of one cyclic macro--economic variable on stability in the time account and client characteristics. Data are very useful for various analyses to understand in the better way the complexity of the banking processes and also for students and their researches. There are presented very interesting conclusions for crisis behavior, namely that if a crisis is impacted by many factors, both customer characteristics: application and behavioral; then there is very difficult to indicate these factors in the typical scoring analysis and the crisis is everywhere, in every kind of risk reports.
CREDIT DERIVATIVES AND RISK MANAGEMENT IN BANKING
Jun-xun DAI
Management Science and Engineering , 2008,
Abstract: The striking growth of credit derivatives suggests that market participants find them to be useful tools for risk management. This paper illustrate the value of credit derivatives with two examples. A commercial bank can use credit derivatives to manage the risk of its loan portfolio. However, credit derivatives pose risk management challenges of their own. This paper discuss five of these challenges. Credit derivatives can transform credit risk in intricate ways that may not be easy to understand. They can create counterparty credit risk that itself must be managed. Complex credit derivatives rely on complex models, leading to model risk. The settlement of a credit derivative contract following a default can have its own complications, creating settlement risk. For the credit derivatives market to continue its rapid growth, commercial banks must meet these risk management challenges. Key words: Credit risk, Credit Derivative, Counterparty risk

CONSIDERATIONS CONCERNING THE BANKING CREDIT AND ITS OPTIMIZATION  [PDF]
CERASELA P?RVU,ANCA MEHEDIN?U
Annals of the University of Petrosani : Economics , 2010,
Abstract: The firms could take into consideration internal or external sources for financing, the differences between them being connected with the stability, independence and cost. Even the internal sources ensures a high degree of independency to the firm, they are not always efficient. Under these circumstances and the conditions of insufficient self-financing, the existence at national level of the tendency of undercapitalization and increase of their debt level, the Romanian firms make use more and more of external sources of financing, especially the banking credits. Therefore, in this study we intend to present a model for optimization the cost of the financing through the bank credit. This model is going to help the managers of the companies to find innovative solutions and to assure the competitiveness and the development of their companies.
Influence of Demographic Factors on the Adoption Level of Mobile Banking Applications in Jordan
Mohammad Alafeef,Dalbir Singh,Kamsuriah Ahmad
Research Journal of Applied Sciences , 2012, DOI: 10.3923/rjasci.2011.373.377
Abstract: The number of mobile users around the world is continuously growing; the users look to benefit from the freedom afforded without the need for cables, time and place. Demographic factors, trust and security have an effect on the usage of mobile applications. The demographic factors are considered the most important factors that can affect the use or adoption of any new technology. This study aims to investigate the effect of demographic factors on the adoption of mobile banking applications. The data for this study has been collected using a survey with 80 respondents that reflect the current situation of the usage of mobile banking applications in Jordan. The outcome of the survey would be analyzed to reflect the preferred patterns among Jordanians towards the mobile banking application. The results indicate that Jordan has good potential in terms of the adoption of the mobile banking application. The impact of demographic factors in developing countries is noted. As an example, in Jordan, the impact of demographic factors is stronger than other adoption factors such as trust or usefulness because this country has high levels of illiteracy; low levels of income and different cultural levels. The major contribution of this research project is the pattern and attributes of preferences that reflect the demographic factors on the adoption levels of the mobile banking applications in Jordan. Besides that it also outlines novel and innovative ways to improve or increase the adoption level.
An Empirical Analysis of Credit Risk Factors of the Slovenian Banking System
Bo?tjan Aver
Managing Global Transitions , 2008,
Abstract: The study presents the results of an analysis of credit risk factors of the Slovenian banking system. The objective of the empirical analysis is to establish which macroeconomic factors influence the systematic credit risk of the Slovenian banking loan portfolio. The research results have confirmed the main hypothesis that certain macroeconomic factors have a major influence on the examined credit risk.We could conclude that the credit risk of the loan portfolio depends on the employment or unemployment rate in Slovenia, on short and long-term interest rates of Slovenian banks and the Bank of Slovenia, and on the value of the Slovenian stock exchange index. We cannot claim that the examined credit risk depends on the inflation rate in Slovenia, the growth of GDP (industrial production), EUR and USD exchange rates or the growth of Slovenian import and export.
