Revista de Administra??o de Empresas , 2012,
Abstract: The studies of Mehrabian and Russell (1974), (researchers in the field of environmental psychology), have been instrumental in spreading the idea that the environmental features at the point of sale cause emotional reactions that lead to behavior that is hard to explain from a cognitive standpoint. For this reason, merchandising implementation plays a key role, since its aim is to provide an appropriate store atmosphere and display products in a way that encourages buying activity. This paper investigates the effects of merchandising factors on retail sales. The study was carried out in two types of stores: experimental – where merchandising factors were employed, and control - where the design features of merchandising remained unchanged. The analysis of the results confirmed the income effect. . The increase in revenue can be an indicator that merchandising factors have an influence on the consumer′s store choice criteria and his/her behavior within a determined sales environment.

Ingeniería, investigación y tecnología , 2009,
Abstract: This work consists of the synthesis of an optimal estimator for a random phase modulation onto a carrier to be received by a coherent detector. Our application is oriented to homodyne detection with PSK format, in modern optical communication systems. We mecha nize an estimator operating with a baseband observable in additive noise employing a state variable model for the communication channel and optimal estimation techniques. To as sess the performance of the general structure and simplified versions of the estimator we made com puter simulations and calculated the r.m.s. value of the phase error. With these results we get practical estimators that we implemented using analog electronic circuitry and a DSP. The "constant variance" estimator exhibited the minimum r.m.s. value of its phase error obtained experimentally.

Abstract: Запропоновано методику оброблення в дпов дей того, кого навчають, на завдання в дкритого типу, яка дозволя зв'язувати терм ни предметно галуз . Introduction of progressive forms of training and development of modern information technologies creates the necessity of automated assessment of the student’s knowledge. Great value for automated educational systems have models of assessing answers not in the form of chosen variants, but in the form of a free text of any length with synonym concept estimation. A special urgency gets the problem of development of answers’ analysis model on the task of the open type, demanding to enter from the keyboard the certain formulation of this or that term of a subject domain. There is an objective necessity of transition to computer testing of students’ knowledge. Thus, on the foreground rises the problem of automatic assessment of students’ knowledge. This problem is simple enough, if the student is offered to choose one or more right answers from a set of variants, but it becomes considerably difficult, if the procedure of testing provides a developed answer in any form, that is with his or her own words in natural language. In the latter case it is possible to appreciate the student’s knowledge only by comparative text analysis of the answer with the set standard reference text and to assess their relevance. Thus, all word-forms, terms of the subject domain and grammatical structures of the statement should be considered and assessed with the use of all possible synonyms. At the automated knowledge control of the terminology of a subject domain the try to solve a task to compare two definitions of one term: the definition given by the teacher (reference definition), and the definition given by a trainee. The result of the comparison should be conformity with these definitions. The development of this method of standard reference definition and answer analysis is the purpose of the given artice. Mobile Environment Coverage Issues and Delay Spread Calculations in Modern Communications Systems  [PDF]
M. Dababneh
Journal of Applied Sciences , 2005,
Abstract: Mobile system engineering encompasses the art and science of defining the best placement of transmitters to provide acceptable signal quality over a wide coverage area, (since mobile operators often cannot erect their antennas at precisely the optimum site), indicating that there is potential for further research. Mobile radio communications environment is rather a hostile environment which is subjected to continuous changes in its parameters that affect the signaling path. Hence multipath fading and its effect is noticed in the form of delay spread. Delay spread is a commonly used practical measure of the extent of time dispersion introduced by multipath channels. Delay spread measurements provide a quantitative evaluation of multipath fading. A novel technique for the estimation of delay spread has been designed and implemented. The analytical study clearly shows how delay spread fluctuations affect the mobile radio coverage area; however they are not directly proportional. It is found that delay spread is directly proportional to the minimum symbol length that can be used to avoid excessive intersymbol interference (ISI). The new GSM band 1800-1900 MHZ is considered in the measurements phase. And it is noticed that for an open area of microcell size (150x150 m) the upper delay spread limit is 180 nsec for the GSM band. Also, it is found out that in open areas where the normalised delay spread exceeds 10%, the average BER obtained is worse than 10-3. This gives rise to problems such as ISI and consequently degrades the signal quality below the required C/I of 9 dB, hence transmission problems that eventually limits the mobile radio coverage. Therefore, the existing cellular network is not fit for the emerging mobile technologies (UMTS) due to the deployment of high transmission rates.

International Journal of Electrical, Electronics and Data Communication , 2013, DOI: irajijeedc164446
Abstract: The study aims to find out how and to what extent retail apparel outlets incorporate visual merchandising in retail stores in Ludhiana. The survey method was followed to conduct the study and data were collected through Interview schedule and convenient sampling. Ludhiana was selected as locale of the study. The major findings showed that almost all the stores exhibits creative and interesting displays that incorporate aesthetic principles with basic merchandising techniques to inform and educate potential buyers about the products. Moreover displays are frequently changed to promote new product launches, merchandise assortment, brand names and reflect festive or season themes such as Christmas, New Year, Spring or Summer. All the stores allocate specific budget for their displays. It was further found that almost all the stores employed different elements such as mannequins, lightning, scents, music, layouts, props, fixtures for enhancing their store ambience and attracting customers into the store
Social Merchandising: Human Trafficking in Brazilian Soap Opera  [PDF]
Denise Avancini Alves, Maria Helena Weber
Advances in Journalism and Communication (AJC) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ajc.2015.34010
Abstract: Human trafficking is one of today’s largest shadow economies. This theme was included in plot of Salve Jorge, a soap opera in Brazil (broadcasted by Globo Network between October 2012 and May 2013). This article analyzes the social merchandising, an approach given to international human trafficking in entertainment venues of television, especially, from the telenovela Salve Jorge. The strategy of inclusion of social issues in the plots is recognized as social merchandising. So, it is in this privileged media space that the story of a social problem is also constituted. The study focuses on the discussion of the power of the telenovela to dramatize issues of public interest, having main broadcasting and audience of Salve Jorge. One seeks to question the maintenance and the impact of the subject of human trafficking as a dialogue between fiction and reality portrayed by Brazilian television. The show, Salve Jorge, is based on the real-life story of a Brazilian woman who was led to Israel and forced into prostitution. Therefore, human trafficking emerges as the central theme of this study over the main plot of Salve Jorge.

The Sale with Repurchase Clause
Urs,Ilie;
Revista de derecho (Valparaíso) , 2010, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-68512010000200002
Abstract: the sale with repurchase clause was regulated in 1864 by the civil code, within the meaning of articles 1371-1387, as a variety of sale affected by a cancellation condition. the sale with repurchase clause was frequently used in practice in order to breach the public provisions of article 1689 of the romanian civil code, on mortgage matters. taking into consideration that the sale with repurchase clause was actually a way to breach the provisions of article 1689 of the romanian civil code, giving birth to a lot of abuses on the part of the creditors, the romanian legislator decided to prohibit this type of sale. we also consider that, de lege ferenda, the implementation of a new prohibition law of the sale with repurchase clause is both necessary and useful.
Performance Study of Objective Speech Quality Measurement for Modern Wireless-VoIP Communications  [cached]
Tiago H. Falk,Wai-Yip Chan
EURASIP Journal on Audio, Speech, and Music Processing , 2009, DOI: 10.1155/2009/104382
Abstract: Wireless-VoIP communications introduce perceptual degradations that are not present with traditional VoIP communications. This paper investigates the effects of such degradations on the performance of three state-of-the-art standard objective quality measurement algorithms—PESQ, P.563, and an “extended” E-model. The comparative study suggests that measurement performance is significantly affected by acoustic background noise type and level as well as speech codec and packet loss concealment strategy. On our data, PESQ attains superior overall performance and P.563 and E-model attain comparable performance figures.
