Abstract: :?分析了葫市滩河段的滩险特性、碍航原因。按照“扩大中洪水过水断面,减小流速、比降”的原则,提出挖槽、切嘴、疏浚等工程措施,通过河工模型试验,表明整治流量下,该滩的航行条件显著改善,流速、比降满足要求的航宽大于17m,船舶可自航上滩。

Abstract: Floral biology and yield performance of different Snake gourd (Tricosanthes cucumerina L. syn. T. anguina L.) genotypes were investigated to develop high quality and yielding variety/ies. There were differences between the snake gourd genotypes in respect of floral biology and yield potentiality. Starting of the anthesis occurred within 7 to 8 pm in male flowers and required 19 to 33 minutes for full blooming. The anthesis of the female flower started from 7 to 8 pm and completed their full blooming within 1 to 2 h. Time of anther dehiscence started from 4 pm to 5 pm i.e. about 3 h before anthesis and completed at 7 to 8 pm. The fresh pollen viability percentage was around 99.00 and no pollen grain was germinated before 5 h at field condition. The stigma became receptive about 15 h before anthesis and it remained receptive upto 27 h after anthesis. SG 04 was more cross compatible than the self compatible

Abstract: Bottle gourd is one of the excellent fruits gifted by nature to human beings having composition of all the essential constituents that are required for good health and quality human life. Lagenaria siceraria (Cucurbitaceae), popularly known as bottle gourd, lauki or ghiya, is a climbing plant, which bears hard-shelled and bottle-shaped gourds as fruits. It forms an excellent diet being rich in vitamins, iron and minerals. The fruit is reported to contain the triterepenoide cucurbitacins B, D, G, H, two sterols viz., fucosterol and campesterol, aerpene byonolic acid (an allergic compound), flavone-C glycosides (a ribosome inactivating protein) and lagenin. Extract of the ghiya seeds show antibiotic activity. The fruit juice is helpful in constipation, premature graying hair, urinary disorders and insomnia. Lauki has the highest content of choline among all the vegetables known to man till date, which serves as the precursor of neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which in turn is crucial for retaining and enhancing memory. Furthermore, Lagenaria siceraria is a vegetable useful in the management of many diseases like cardiac disorders, hepatic diseases and ulcer. Bottle gourd juice helps to regulate blood pressure of hypertensive patients, because of its high potassium content. It helps in losing weight quickly, because of its high dietary fiber and low fat and cholesterol content. In the light of above facts, the authors have made a humble attempt to compile an up-to-date review article on Lagenaria siceraria covering its phytochemistry, pharmacological actions and folk medicinal uses.

RESPONSE OF BIO-INOCULANTS TO EARLY SEEDLING GROWTH IN ASH GOURD AND RIDGE GOURD  [cached]

Abstract: The present study was carried out to evaluate the response of different bio-agents/ bio-fungicides and growth regulators on seed germination and early seedling growth of Ash gourd (Benincasa hispida) and Ridge gourd (Luffa acutangula). Gibberellic acid(GA3)and NAA(Napthoxy Acetic Acid) were used as growth regulator and Trichoderma viride, Pseudomonas fluorescens and Trichoderma harzianum like bio-pesticides or bio-fungicides were used as bio-agents. Eleven treatments were used for the present investigation. Higher germination was observed in Treatment-5, Treatment-6, Treatment-10 and Treatment-11 in contrast to other treatments like chemicals as well as control in case of Ridge gourd and Treatment 7, Treatment 3 and Treatment-11 was found significantly better than all other treatments in case of Ash gourd. Generally root and shoot length increased with the advancement of growth stages. Pseudomonas fluorescens (Treatment-4) treated seeds showed higher number of secondary root in comparison to all other treatments. The shoot length and root length in both the cases (ash gourd and ridge gourd) were highly influenced by the bio-inoculants and chemicals but influence of bio-agents were found better than the chemicals .Similarly the seedling weight at 96hours after sowing and at 144 hours after sowing ( in both the cases of Ash gourd and Ridge gourd ) was reported higher when the seeds were treated with bio-inoculants which reflected the efficacy of the bio-inoculants compared to others.
