CRESCIMENTO DO LOURO-PARDO, Cordia trichotoma (Vell.) Arrab. ex Steud., NA DEPRESS O CENTRAL DO ESTADO DO RIO GRANDE DO SUL

Abstract: Este trabalho teve como objetivos estudar o crescimento em diametro, volume comercial, incremento corrente anual em percentagem do volume comercial e a determina o do fator de forma comercial para o louro-pardo, Cordia trichotoma (Vell.) Arrab. ex Steud., na regi o da Depress o Central do estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Para o ajuste dos dados de crescimento em diametro e volume comercial sem casca foram testadas três equa es matemáticas, sendo que a equa o de Backman resultou como modelo mais eficiente, ajustado em fun o da idade das árvores. Essa equa o também foi selecionada para o ajuste do incremento corrente anual em percentagem do volume comercial, ajustada em fun o do diametro à altura do peito (DAP). Para o ajuste do fator de forma comercial a melhor equa o foi a quadrática, sendo os valores determinados em fun o do DAP para facilitar a aplica o prática. O fator de forma comercial variou desde 0,34 para um DAP de 7 cm até um valor máximo de 0,78 para um DAP de 37,1 cm, entre as idades de 20 e 88 anos, respectivamente. O incremento corrente anual em percentagem do volume comercial variou de 18,05% aos 20 anos a 2,22% aos 88 anos de idade.

Abstract: phytochemical studies of ethyl acetate extracts from the roots and aerial parts of gypsophila trichotoma revealed the presence of stigmast-7-en-3-ol, stigmasta-7,22-dien-3-ol (spinasterol), ergost-7-en-3-ol, stigmasta-3,5dien7-one, β-sitosterol, 22,23-dihydrospinasterone, vitexin, orientin, homoorientin and hyperoside. the structures of the compounds were determined by gc/ms and hplc analyses.

Abstract: the nomenclature and taxonomy of the 25 species of passifloraceae named by vellozo in flora fluminensis were reviewed by examining the plates and latin diagnoses. passiflora mediterranea, p. ovalis, p. porophylla, p. silvestris, p. tetraden, and p. villosa are species proposed by vellozo that are accepted herein. fifteen species (p. arvensis, p. bilobata, p. dentata, p. diaden, p. globosa, p. lunata, p. maliformis, p. oliviformis, p. pallida, p. pertusa, p. polyaden, p. quadrangularis, p. rubra, p. sururuca, and p. violacea) are synonyms, were misidentified, or have illegitimate names.passiflora edulis, p. foetida, and p. racemosa were correctly identified; however, the plant recognized by vellozo as p. foetida is now considered p. foetida var. fluminensis. passiflora obtusa was considered incertae sedis.

Morphological and physiological responses of Cedrela Fissilis Vellozo (Meliaceae) seedlings to light

Abstract: seeds of cedrela fissilis vellozo were planted and maintained under two distinct conditions: at east border of a forest with red: far-red ratio of 1.15 and under canopy with photosynthetic photon flux density of 0.22-7% of full sun radiation and red: far-red ratio of 0.21-0.36. seedling growth (height and stem diameter) was faster under sun, the development of roots more continuous and the number of leaves almost twice of that of shade plants. the leaf area was 10 times greater in sun plants with 15-25 leaflets per leaf while under shade only 5 to 10 leaflets were found per leaf. in shade plants, a higher proportion of dry mass was found in aerial parts. leaves of sun plants had the capacity of gas exchange to respond to high light radiation, but leaves adapted to shade presented a lower response to light changes. when shade plants were transferred and maintained under the sun for 15 days, only the young leaves were adapted to increased light radiation, reaching the same photosynthetic rate as sun plants, while old leaves were shed. sun plants transferred to shade conditions did not lose leaves, but did not reach the same photosynthetic rate attained by shade plants.

Abstract: the objective of this study was to characterize the morphology of the fruits, seeds and seedlings of two tree species of the leguminosae mimosoideae, which grow naturally in sergipe state, for taxonomic purposes and for studies on the natural recovery and restoration of riparian forests. the morphological characteristics of angico [anadenanthera colubrina (vellozo) brenan] and tamboril [enterolobium contortisiliquum (vellozo) morong] have been described and illustrated. the fruits were collected by pruning 5 donor trees, at least 50 m distant from each other. the morphometric and the external and internal morphological characteristics of the fruits and seeds and the external seedling and nursery plant characteristics were evaluated. a. colubrina has dry, dehiscent fruits whereas e. contortisiliquum fruits are dry and indehiscent. both species have a pleurogram and are not albuminous. the characters of the embryo and the epigeal-phanerocotylar germination are similar to those observed in the caesalpinioideae. in the seedlings, the presence of extrafloral glandular nectaries on the rachis in a. colubrina and lenticels in e. contortisiliquum aid in the identification. the presence of root nodules in e. contortisiliquum and a tuberous root in a. colubrina are essential for species differentiation. it is concluded that the internal and external structures of the fruits and seeds and the external morphology of the seedlings will allow quick and accurate identification, providing a basis for studies with these species in the laboratory, nursery or field.

Abstract: this study analyzed the morphology and anatomy of the cordia trichotoma (vell.) arrab. ex i. m. johnst diaspore. the objectives were: the structural analysis of the calyx and corolla that persisted in the ripe fruit and acted in the anemocoric dispersion process; the vascularization of the gynoecium for better understanding of the carpel/locule number of the ovary; nectary structure; and the anatomical analysis of the developmental pericarp and seed for better definition of the fruit type. the results showed that the perianth had aerenchyma and the ovary was 2- 4- locule forming endothelium and false septum. the fruit was drupoid nuculanium and the seed was exotestal.

Abstract: the present study examined the optimization of stabilization and extraction processes of the flavonoids of bauhinia cheilantha (bongard) steudel. four drying temperatures (room temperature, 40, 60 and 80 oc) and seven extraction systems (distilled water, 100% methanol, 80% methanol, 100% ethanol, 80% ethanol, 80% acetone and 60% acetone) were examined. the results demonstrated a reduction in flavonoid levels with increasing drying temperatures; and 80% acetone, 80% ethanol, and methanol p.a extraction systems were found to be most efficient and its weren't differents statisticaly (p<0.05).
