The Relations of Transformational Leadership and Empowerment with Employee  [PDF]

Abstract: This paper examines if transformational leadership and empowerment affect job satisfaction among Indian restaurant employees. This studyutilized survey research (a non-experimental field study design). A total of 218 restaurant industry employees from the Punjab area of India weresurveyed to assess their perceptions of transformational leadership, empowerment, and job satisfaction at their places of work. Positiverelationships between i) employee perceived transformational leadership used by managers and employee perceived job satisfaction and ii)employee perceived empowerment and employee perceived job satisfaction were found. The paper makes recommendations to managers andowners/operators of the hospitality organizations for improving employee retention.
The Impact of Transformational Leadership and Empowerment on Employee Job Stress  [PDF]

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to examine the impact of transformational leadership (TL) and employee empowerment (EE) onemployee job stress (JS). This study also extends the findings of Gill et al. [1] related to the factors that mitigate job stress in theservice industry. A survey research (a non-experimental field study design) was utilized. The current study consists of a population ofIndian hospitality industry employees. A convenience sampling method was applied to select and recruit the research participants.Data were collected using questionnaires. The p < .05 significance level was used to accept or reject the null hypotheses. The resultssuggest that the improvement in the level of perceived TL used by managers and EE mitigate the job stress of customer contactservice employees (CCSEs) in the Indian hospitality industry. The results also show that TL and EE mitigate the job stress of CCSEs inthe Indian hotel industry.

Abstract: Transformational leadership has two salient characteristics: intellectual stimulation and individualized consideration. Recent studies in this area reveal that the effect of such leadership characteristics on job performance is indirectly affected by empowerment. The nature of this relationship is interesting, but little is known about the mediating effect of empowerment in leadership management models. Therefore, this study was conducted to measure the effect of transformational leadership characteristics and empowerment on service quality by using 110 usable questionnaires gathered from employees working in a city based local authority (CBLAUTHORITY) in Sarawak, Malaysia. Outcomes of a stepwise regression analysis showed that the relationship between empowerment and selected transformational leadership characteristics (i.e. intellectual stimulation and individualized consideration) is positively and significantly correlated with service quality. The result confirms that empowerment does act as a full mediating variable in the leadership model of the organization under study. This paper also discusses implications and limitations, as well as directions for future research.
An Empirical Study of the Relationship between Transformational Leadership, Empowerment and Organizational Commitment

Abstract: Organizational leadership literature highlights that transformational leadership has four salient features: intellectual stimulation, individualized consideration, individualized influenced attributed, and individualized influence behavior. The ability of leaders to properly implement this leadership style may have a significant impact on organizational commitment. More importantly, recent studies in this area reveal that effect of transformational leadership style on organizational commitment is indirectly affected by empowerment. The nature of this relationship is interesting, but little is known about the mediating effect of empowerment in organizational leadership literature. Therefore, this study was conducted to examine the influence of empowerment in the relationship between transformational leadership and organizational commitment using a sample of 118 usable questionnaires gathered from employees who have worked in one US subsidiary firm in East Malaysia, Malaysia. The results of exploratory factor analysis confirmed that the measurement scales used in this study satisfactorily met the standards of validity and reliability analyses. Further, the outcomes of Stepwise Regression analysis showed that the relationship between empowerment and transformational leadership positively and significantly correlated with the organizational commitment. Statistically, this result confirms that empowerment acts as a mediating variable in the relationship between transformational leadership and organizational commitment in the organizational sample. In addition, discussion, implications and conclusion are elaborated.

Abstract:

In the knowledge economy, the innovation already became the motivation of foundation for organization growth, especially for E-commerce organizations. Business organizations should consider how their organizational innovations for all aspects of resource optimization to increase efficiency. The purpose of this study is to build some conceptual models in transformational leadership, innovation atmosphere and E-commerce organization innovation. Through the questionnaire survey procedure in some E-commerce corporations in Zhe Jiang, this research takes correlation analysis and regression analysis. We discovered: both transformational leadership and innovation atmosphere have the remarkable influence on E-commerce organization innovation. We also find the differences of effects and their interactions directly between the transformational leadership, innovation climate and the dimension degrees on E-commerce organization innovation.

Is the Relationship between Employees’ Psychological Empowerment and Employees’ Job Satisfaction Contingent on the Transformational Leadership? A Study on the Yemeni Islamic Banks  [cached]

Abstract: The construct of employees’ job satisfaction has been gaining an increasing scholarly attention as one of the crucial determinants of organizational effectiveness and success. Specifically, it has been very much acknowledged by both researchers and academics that employees are the most valuable assets of an organization and play the crucial role in achieving its overall objectives. These arguments justify the attention given to studying the psychological characteristics of employees and what determine their job satisfaction that impacts the organizational performance. In addition to that, transformational leadership has been proven to have a significant effect on the employees’ job satisfaction through enhancing the employees’ perception of empowerment. Despite this fact, the dynamic role of transformational style on enhancing the level of satisfaction among the empowered individuals has been greatly neglected. It has been, also, proven in the literature that employees’ satisfaction directly affects the customers’ satisfaction and subsequently the overall organizational performance. In Yemen, as it the case on many developing countries, employees of an organization should be satisfied as the first step to achieve a better organizational performance associated with customers’ satisfaction. The poor performance of Yemeni banks, as customer-oriented business, can be, somehow, attributed to the low level of employees’ job satisfaction. This paper, however, aims to examine the joint effect of employees’ psychological empowerment and transformational leadership on the employees’ job satisfaction. To achieve this purpose, responses of a sample of 160 employees from the Yemeni Islamic banks have been examined. The findings of this study confirmed the direct effect of employees’ psychological empowerment and transformational leadership on the employees’ job satisfaction. On the other hand, the moderating effect of transformational leadership on the relationship between employees’ psychological empowerment and the employees’ job satisfaction was not supported. These findings were, finally, discussed in the lights of the limitations of the study and future research directions were offered.

Abstract: A vast literature describes transformational leadership in terms of leader having charismatic and inspiring personality, stimulating followers, and providing them with individualized consideration. A considerable empirical support exists for transformation leadership in terms of its positive effect on followers with respect to criteria like effectiveness, extra role behaviour and organizational learning. This study aims to explore the effect of transformational leadership characteristics on followers’ job satisfaction. Survey method was utilized to collect the data from the respondents. The study reveals that individualized consideration and intellectual stimulation affect followers’ job satisfaction. However, intellectual stimulation is positively related with job satisfaction and individualized consideration is negatively related with job satisfaction. Leader’s charisma or inspiration was found to be having no affect on the job satisfaction. The three aspects of transformational leadership were tested against job satisfaction through structural equation modeling using Amos.

Abstract: Planners are expected to be ethical, advancing socially-responsible citizenship-based practices. They must also have a keen understanding of the implications of top-down policy decisions on communities. A Planner is a public servant. Public servants require a mastery of techniques for community engagement: involving a wide range of people in making decisions, an ability to work with the public and articulate planning issues to a wide variety of audiences, as well as the ability to function as a facilitator when community interests conflict. These skills call for a theoretical foundation in transformational leadership, but students will not learn transformational leadership unless the curriculum deliberately teaches and models it. This research considers the intersection of three major themes in the pedagogy of Planning: sustainable communities, transformational leadership, and community engagement. The intersection, a critical Planning pedagogy, should be a guiding principle of all Planning curricula. Although this is a case study, and its findings limited to one program, the framework can be explored as a means to examining transformational leadership as a means to advancing socially-responsible citizenship-based practices in Planning curricula.

Abstract: To study Transformational Leadership from the perspective of cognitive neuroscience allows us to better understand the neural basis of its behavior. After a brief introduction to Transformational Leadership and neurological leadership, this paper puts its focus on going over the neurological study which is based on resting state and functional state in the respect of individual differences in Transformational Leadership. At the same time it has also clarified the neural basis of Transformational Leadership effectiveness. Based on the neurological research on the individual differences in Transformational Leadership and behavior effectiveness, this paper also puts forward some enlightenment to improve the behavior effectiveness of Transformational Leadership. In the conclusion part, this paper has discussed certain problems in this field and its future research directions.

Finally, it points out the limitations of current researches and some prospects for the future research.
