Optimizing Route for Hazardous Materials Logistics Based on Hybrid Ant Colony Algorithm  [PDF]

Abstract: Optimizing Route for Hazardous Materials Logistics (ORHML) belongs to a class of problems referred to as NP-Hard, and a strict constraint of it makes it harder to solve. In order to dealing with ORHML, an improved hybrid ant colony algorithm (HACA) was devised. To achieve the purpose of balancing risk and cost for route based on the principle of ACA that used to solve TSP, the improved HACA was designed. Considering the capacity of road network and the maximum expected risk limits, a route optimization model to minimize the total cost is established based on network flow theory. Improvement on route construction rule and pheromone updating rule was adopted on the basis of the former algorithm. An example was analyzed to demonstrate the correctness of the application. It is proved that improved HACA is efficient and feasible in solving ORHML. 1. Introduction Hazardous materials, which have different physical and chemical properties, have high risk during transportation, as a series of problems may arise in this process. Route optimization is a complex combinatorial optimization problem, which is a typical NP-complete problem and difficult to come up with a direct answer. It is a practical problem in urgent need of solution in which we can find the optimal plan under the restrictions quickly, accurately, safely, and economically. Optimizing Route for Hazardous Materials Logistics (ORHML) can be described as follows. Given a set of hazardous materials and an underlying network consisting of a number of nodes and capacitated arcs, we wish to find an optimal routing plan to ship the hazardous materials through the network at lowest cost without violating the capacity limits. ORHML models also appear as subproblems in more complicated models, such as distribution system design and capacitated network design. ORHML has attracted the attention of many OR researchers. Kara et al. [1] presented several route planning models of road. Verma and Verter [2] gave a number of route planning models of rail. Iakovou [3] provided route planning models of water. Miller-Hooks [4] modeled ORHML as a path selection problem in a stochastic time-varying network. Dell’Olmo et al. [5] finding a number of spatially dissimilar paths between an origin and a destination can also be considered in this area. Jin and Batta [6] presented a risk model that took into account the dependency to the impedances of preceding road segments. Abstract: A new model is proposed for logistics distribution center allocation based on the ant colony optimization in this paper.Inspired by the ability of real ants to find the shortest path through the laying down of pheromone and to cluster corpse in the nest,we mapped the problem of the logistics distribution center allocation to the process of clustering objects with emphasis on the lowest logistics costs and appropriately designed the transition probability,the tabu list as well as the way pheromone was updated.A detailed logistics distribution center allocation algorithm based on the ant colony optimization is experimented and the experimental results show that the new algorithm can acquire the optimal solution that is accord with the practice,Moreover,the new algorithm has much more flexibility which adapts to many kinds of logistic distribution model and largescale logistic distribution center allocation.

Abstract: Logistics activities need to find different distribution node of the shortest path, to instruct the logistics vehicle scheduling, and then save the logistics cost. This paper proposed the solution of vehicle routing optimization problem. In order to conquer the defects and improve the basic ant colony optimization, it improved pheromones updating strategy, stimulating factor and the introduction of search hotspots, solved the defects of ant colony optimization effectively. With the help of Harbin city map as the prototype and the MATLAB software, it carried out simulation to check the improved ant colony optimization. The result verifies the feasibility and effectiveness of the improved ant colony optimization.

Abstract: This paper carefully analyzed the characteristics of logistics company, combined the artifical immune algorithm and ant colony optimization, and proposed an algorithm based on ant colony optimization of immune vaccines(ACOIV),implemented a solution to the dynamic logistics and distribution paths. First, for the sub-optimal solution, vaccinated the initial antibody,and then the ant initialized pheromone based on that sub-optimal solution to find the global optimal solution.The experimental results show that the ACOIV can find a faster and more accurate optimal solution.

The modern logistics of military systems / equipment imply core technologies such as Watchdog Agent for Predictive Prognostics, Web-enabled Smart D2B (device to business), Platform and Tools for Data Transformation, Optimization, and Synchronization, Applied Wireless Technologies and Logistics Infotronics Agent (LIA). The hereby article argues that traceability, predictability and diagnosticability through advanced technologies will lead the armed forces to the life cycle logistics approach for interoperability and optimal cost of military systems / equipment.

Abstract: In 1940, Great Britain’s wartime exploitation of the human and material resources of its colonial empire was extended to colonial Lesotho (then known as Basutoland). The aim of this article, therefore, is to trace the four-year military labour mobilisation process in that colony, with special attention to the timing, number and procedures of the recruitment campaigns that were launched, the reasons for Basotho men’s willingness or resistance to enlist, and the overall implications for Lesotho of large-scale absenteeism of able-bodied men as migrant and military labour.

Abstract: This paper first analyzed the status quo of logistics vehicles route and the difficulties of selection, evaluated the existing ant colony optimization algorithm and improved the algorithm, proposed the multi-radial ant colony optimization algorithm. Set the multi-radial factor, path network topology and topology matrix in the method to aim at ant choosing path. Simulation results show the rationality, the feasibility and the validity of using the algorithm. The proposed algorithm can be applied to large-scale path network to create multiple paths.

Abstract: According to the characteristics and requirements of urban vegetable logistics and distribution, the optimization model is established to achieve the minimum distribution cost of distribution center. The algorithm of artificial bee colony is improved, and the algorithm based on MATLAB software is designed to solve the model successfully. At the same time, combined with the actual case, the two algorithms are compared to verify the effectiveness of the improved artificial bee colony algorithm in the optimization of urban vegetable distribution path.

Abstract: The medical business of China Post Logistics is developing day by day. China Post Logistics have been using the Parallel partition picking mode for a long time, but too many shortages have appearing in these two years, especially in the order picking cost and efficiency. This paper analyzes the current order picking mode of China Post Logistics and compare with the Parallel partition picking mode. By analysis the advantages and disadvantages of these two modes and combine with the actual situation, we choose the serial partition relay picking model as the picking mode of CPL in medical logistics area. And then it optimizes the order picking route in view of the current deficiency combined with the use of Ant Colony Optimization (ACO). The example simulation result shows that this optimizing is effective and the order picking cost decrease 17.36% and the route decrease 9.80% than that as before. This research not only to Chain Post Logistics but also to other logistics company which runs the medical business has certain reference.
