New method of trenchless cable replacement by the new HDD wash over technology

Abstract: An enormous amount of underground electricity and telecommunication cables have become time-worn technical defects or need a capacity increase. Thus, new lines need to be installed. In urban areas, even in smaller communities and in nature reserves, open trenching is difficult and often not permitted.New patented methods of trenchless cable replacement by using the HDD equipment have been developed by the TT Group. The new technology is called “Wash-over-cable-replacement” and applies specially designed drill heads, reaming around the old cable string in various configurations (completely closed, U-shaped or sigmoidal embracing), depending on the coating structure of the old cable. The cable replacement drill heads separate the cable from adhesive or contacting soil or sand bedding, create a very small annular space around the cable which enables a pulling or dragging out of the old cable section between a start and an exit pit. After the old cable has been loosened from the surrounding soil by means of the wash over process and pulled out, the new cable is smoothly pulled into the void using the drill rods embedding the new cable into a rich bed of Bentonite.The replacement drill heads are slim and have inner and outer nozzles for Bentonite and bits in order to handle roots, pebbles, gravel and the like. These drill heads can very fast (up to 3 meters per minute) and effectively wash over existing cables without damaging the cable coating and prepare the ground for a fast new laying of a new cable in the existing line. Network owners also benefit from the fact that new geodetic or topographic surveys and documentations of the new cable are not necessary, only, the documents, remarks, technical codes and existing geodetic data need to be updated.The paper will outline the technological background and includes many practical job examples.

Verbotonal procedures, as distinguished from pure physiotherapy, are done in the sense of using hands, legs and the whole body for work and keeping psychophisical processing healthy and rhythmical.

Abstract: The causes of gas pipelines ageing and methods of their inspection are presented in this paper. The authors made a detailed analysis of trenchless methods of saeling and renovation of gas networks, availabe on the Polish market nowadays. The technical aspect of renovation methods are also described. A short review of most popular renovation methods, with their advantages and disadvantages.

Partial matching face recognition method for rehabilitation nursing robots beds  [PDF]

Abstract: In order to establish face recognition system in rehabilitation nursing robots beds and achieve real-time monitor the patient on the bed. We propose a face recognition method based on partial matching Hu moments which apply for rehabilitation nursing robots beds. Firstly we using Haar classifier to detect human faces automatically in dynamic video frames. Secondly we using Otsu threshold method to extract facial features (eyebrows, eyes, mouth) in the face image and its Hu moments. Finally, we using Hu moment feature set to achieve the automatic face recognition. Experimental results show that this method can efficiently identify face in a dynamic video and it has high practical value (the accuracy rate is 91% and the average recognition time is 4.3s).

Abstract: The aim of the research was to develop a new rehabilitation method for patients with congenital dislocation of hip in the late postoperative period. It is based on anatomical, physiological, pathogenetic, functional and ontogenetic foundations and prevents coxarthrosis development and progress. Materials. The data from examination and treatment of 71 patients are presented. The main group consisted of 48 children and the comparison group consisted of 23 children. Methods. Data processing was made by Statistica 6,0 programme. Normalcy of distribution was estimated by the Shapiro-Wilktest. Hypothesis proof of two means equality was provided by the Wilcoxon signed-ranktest. Correlation analysis was made by definition of the Pearson correlation coefficient and the Spearman s rank correlation coefficient. Rate difference was considered as a reliable rate if p<0,05. Results. According to the results, a proper short-term gait stereotype formation has been attained as opposed to the routine rehabilitation methods. Conclusion. Due to advantages of the new method, therapy efficiency is extended and reoperation risks are decreased
Evaluation of the method of electrochemical extraction of chlorides ions for the rehabilitation of concrete structures with reinforcement corrosion problems

Abstract: The present work evaluates the method of electrochemical extraction of chloride ions for the rehabilitation of corroded concrete structures. The influence of the concrete cover and the water-to-cement ratio in the efficiency of the method was studied by determining the initial and the final chloride content. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and the corrosion potential were used to monitor the reinforcement electrochemical behavior during the chloride extraction. The test results verify that this method successfully extracted chloride ions like it was previous reported in the literature. On average, this method removed 77% of the content of initial chloride ions at a distance of 0.5 cm from the surface and 50% of the content of initial chloride ions near de rebars. El actual trabajo evalúa el método de extracción electroquímica de cloruros para la rehabilitación de estructuras de hormigón corroídas. La influencia del espesor de recubrimiento y de la relación agua/cemento en la eficacia del método fue estudiada determinando el contenido inicial y final de cloruros. La técnica de impedancia electroquímica y el potencial de la corrosión fueron utilizados para la monitorización del comportamiento electroquímico del refuerzo durante la extracción de cloruros. Los resultados de los ensayos verificaron que este método extrajo con éxito cloruros, tal y como fue divulgado previamente en la literatura. Como promedio, este método extrajo el 77% del contenido de iones iniciales de cloruros a una distancia de 0,5 centímetros de la superficie, y el 50% del contenido de cloruros cerca de las armaduras.

Abstract:
The poor state of sanitary services is a major environmental challenge in urban centres of Nigeria. The situation has reached a crisis proportion in the absence of basic sanitary services like modern toilet, good sewage management method, functional drainage system, good roads, environmentally- friendly solid waste disposal method, potable water, electricity and social amenities. The aim of the study is to show how infrastructural improvement method of slum rehabilitation can be applied to reduce costs for improving environmental quality of a major slum area in Yenagoa. Basic Research Methodology was applied using questionnaire, direct observation and personal interview techniques to collect data. Both qualitative and quantitative techniques were applied to analyse data through the use of tables and charts. The findings in the study showed that poor condition of sanitary services seriously degrades the environmental quality of the study area. The standard of living in the area is very poor as the people lack access to basic sanitation and social amenities. It showed that only 2% of the households exclusively use water closet (wc) toilet; 4% have well-maintained septic tanks; none of the houses are on road with functional drainage system; 10% of the houses are on tarred roads of 10 or more metres right-of-way and none of the households use environmentally-friendly solid waste management method.
Research on Combined Rehabilitation Method and Its Mechanism of Traditional Chinese Medicine Daoyin Technique with Biofeedback Technique  [PDF]

Abstract: Objective: To study an anti resistance active exercise training method which is consistent with the principle of “transcendental goal power” to promote the plasticity change of central nervous system (CNS) in order to recover the motor function after CNS injury, observe its clinical effect and explore its mechanism. Methods: The potential of CNS was induced by six-step Daoyin technique of Chinese medicine, and the potential signal was received in real time by bio-electrical signal receiving equipment and displayed in curve form. Combined with the Operant conditioning biofeedback technique, targeted guidance was given to patients to continuously enhance the action muscle signal intensity and weaken the antagonistic muscle signal intensity, so that the motor program was gradually re-established. Sixty-four patients with hemiplegic elbow dysfunction of old cerebral infarction who had been trained but could not be improved further and had a history of more than 1 year were treated for one course, 90 times and 45 minutes each time. Lovett, Elbow Rom, Fugl-Meyer, program signal intensity and proportion were evaluated before and after treatment. The data were analyzed statistically. Before and after treatment, Lovett MMT, ROM of elbow joint, Fugl Meyer, motor program signal intensity and proportion were assessed, and the data were statistically analyzed. Results: After treatment and before treatment, there was a significant difference between the functional evaluation data (P < 0.01). The function of elbow joint was improved; this is the result of reconstructing the motor program on the basis of developing the potential of CNS by means of the “transcendental goal power” mechanism of the method. There was no recurrence after 6 months of follow-up. Conclusion: The Chinese Medicine Daoyin feedback rehabilitation technique is an effective method to improve elbow joint function of hemiplegia patients with cerebral infarction.

Abstract: A strongly connotative element of developmental disorders (DS) is the total or partial impairment of verbal communication and, more generally, of social interaction. The method of Vocal-verb self-management (Augev) is a systemic organicistic method able to intervene in problems regarding verbal, spoken and written language development successfully. This study intends to demonstrate that it is possible to objectify these progresses through a spectrographic examination of vocal signals, which detects voice phonetic-acoustic parameters. This survey allows an objective evaluation of how effective an educational-rehabilitation intervention is. This study was performed on a population of 40 subjects (34 males and 6 females) diagnosed with developmental disorders (DS), specifically with a diagnosis of the autism spectrum disorders according to the DSM-5. The 40 subjects were treated in “la Comunicazione” centers, whose headquarters are near Bari, Brindisi and Rome. The results demonstrate a statistical significance in a correlation among the observed variables: supervisory status, attention, general dynamic coordination, understanding and execution of orders, performing simple unshielded rhythmic beats, word rhythm, oral praxies, phono-articulatory praxies, pronunciation of vowels, execution of graphemes, visual perception, acoustic perception, proprioceptive sensitivity, selective attention, short-term memory, segmental coordination, performance of simple rhythmic beatings, word rhythm, voice setting, intonation of sounds within a fifth, vowel pronunciation, consonant pronunciation, graphematic decoding, syllabic decoding, pronunciation of caudate syllables, coding of final syllable consonant, lexical decoding, phoneme-grapheme conversion, homographic grapheme decoding, homogeneous grapheme decoding, graphic stroke.
