Abstract: Entirely new method of graphic representation of data stored in database is elaborated within frame of processing of system for rapid evaluation of coal deposits. Petrographic and geological symbols have been generated mostly by creation of singular pattern for each rock type including its impurities and other features. However, such a conventional symbols do not allow represent number of combinations of features typical for rocks in real occurrences. Any further information (for instance calcareous impurity, coal fragments etc.) multiplies the existing number of patterns. The consequence is that there are many patterns for only most frequently occurring coal, rock and transitory rock types. The main principle of new symbol creation is based on mutual combining of symbols. Thereby all essential characteristics of coals and rocks can be represented graphically in whatever combination while preserving lucidity and non-ambiguity conditions. Representation of particular proportions of three-grain sized components in rock indicating by adverbial expressions of highly, slightly and medium (for instance slightly sandy highly silt clay) is enabled. Particular types of coal occurring in transition rocks are represented by appropriate graphical symbols according to genetic type. Problems with old terms of coals and rocks according to other types of classification were taken into consideration. At elaboration of the system, hitherto valid regulations, usage and standards were consulted. The resultant system is simple and easy to control in face of options it enables.
A Graphic Representation of States for Quantum Copying Machines  [PDF]

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to introduce a new graphic representation of quantum states by means of a specific application: the analysis of two models of quantum copying machines. The graphic representation by diagrams of states offers a clear and detailed visualization of quantum information's flow during the unitary evolution of not too complex systems. The diagrams of states are exponentially more complex in respect to the standard representation and this clearly illustrates the discrepancy of computational power between quantum and classical systems. After a brief introductive exposure of the general theory, we present a constructive procedure to illustrate the new representation by means of concrete examples. Elementary diagrams of states for single-qubit and two-qubit systems and a simple scheme to represent entangled states are presented. Quantum copying machines as imperfect cloners of quantum states are introduced and the quantum copying machines of Griffiths and Niu and of Buzek and Hillery are analyzed, determining quantum circuits of easier interpretation. The method has indeed shown itself to be extremely successful for the representation of the involved quantum operations and it has allowed to point out the characteristic aspects of the quantum computations examined.

Abstract: The learner follow-up in problem solving is a hard issue. It is more difficult when there are a lot of learners or when those learners use distance learning. We propose in this paper a two-dimensional graphic representation of student's traces. To achieve this goal, we use and modify numerical analysis algorithms (automatic dimensionality reduction algorithms like Self Organizing Map and Stochastic Neighbour Embedding). We also propose a new distance between sets whose elements have semantic similarity. Finally, we validate and improve our algorithm with simulated data and experimental data

Abstract: For graphic representation of the projective creations, such as the quadrics (II degree surfaces) in projective, general collinear spaces, it is necessary to firstly determine the characteristic parameters, such as: vanishing planes, axes and centers of space. An absolute conic of a space is an imaginary conic, residing in the infinitely distant plane of that space. The common elements of the absolute conic and infinitely distant conic of a quadric in the infinitely distant plane of that space are the autopolar triangle and two double straight lines which are always real and it is necessary to use the common elements of their associated pair of conics in the vanishing plane of the associated space. The quadric axes are passing through the apices of the autopolar triangle, and they are important for graphic representation of the quadrics. In order to map a sphere in the first space into the triaxial ellipsoid in the second space, it is necessary to select a sphere so that its center is not on the axis of that space and that it intersects the vanishing plane of the second space along the imaginary circumference, which is in general position with the figure of the absolute conic of the second space (the associated pair of conics in the vanishing plane).
The Examining Mathematical Word Problems Solving Ability under Efficient Representation Aspect

Abstract: Word problem solving is complex process for students. Efficient instruction of word problem solving needed to efficient strategies. One of these strategies is using representation. Some students apply key words or numbers only but when they face complex word problems then they cannot apply the keywords. Therefore teachers have to teach efficient strategy such as representation. In this research is tried whether using efficient representation can lead to efficient solution. Through cluster sampling method, forty one students are selected at girly elementary school. Through math exam, their solutions are studied. Through Spearman test, results indicate that there is significant relation between efficient representation and efficient word problem solving ability. At second grade, students have used of representation, have gotten to high means and inverse, students have not used of representation, have not gotten to high means. Therefore there is significant and direct relation between efficient representation and efficient word problem solving ability.

Abstract: 摘 要: 媒介中的“大数据”并非是一个单纯的技术征候,当“大数据”以信息图表的方式演化为一种视觉叙事手段时,已悄然开始了文本化,进而转变为一种被媒介所左右的话语形态。在“大数据―图像”的逻辑关联中,信息图表的“精确”叙事在“图像主因型”的文化中已不由自主地开始了“奇观”之旅,其视觉性的实践不但是对他者的“表征”,也是对主体的“建构”。信息图表的视觉表征与建构应是逐步建立数据与“真实”的相关性的过程,这个过程不是单纯的技术命题,也不是设计范畴的视觉化,而是对数据社会性的挖掘与解读方式。在后现代视阈中,“表征”让信息图表的视觉实践可见可知,而“建构”则让这种新媒体姿态的视觉形式可行可塑。“表征”与“建构”并非是两种截然的“视觉”过程,将二者统一思考,才能让我们深切理解媒介言说的“大数据”以及作为视觉性实践的信息图表。
Abstract: The “Big Data” in medium is not a simple sign of technique. When the “Big Data” evolved as a recounting measure in the form of information graphic, its journey of textuality began. In the logical relationship of “Big-data-image,” the accurate narrative of the information graphic became a marvelous spectacle in the culture of “image as the major cause,” whose visuality is practically not only a representation of the Object, but also a construction of the Subject. The visual representation and construction of information graphic should be a process which is gradually established on the correlation of data and “the real.” This process is not a purely technical proposition, nor a visual design, but a way of mining and understanding the data. Under the postmodern perspective, the “representation” lets the infographic practice visible and knowable, and the “construction” renders such a new medium form practicable and shapeable. The “representation” and “construction” are not two completely different “visual” ways. Only by combining both of them, can we deeply understand the “Big Data” in medium and infographics as a visual practice

Abstract: An infinite matroid is graphic if all of its finite minors are graphic and the intersection of any circuit with any cocircuit is finite. We show that a matroid is graphic if and only if it can be represented by a graph-like topological space: that is, a graph-like space in the sense of Thomassen and Vella. This extends Tutte's characterization of finite graphic matroids. The representation we construct has many pleasant topological properties. Working in the representing space, we prove that any circuit in a 3-connected graphic matroid is countable.
