Abstract: as gamba grass (andropogon gayanus kunth, var. bisquamulatus (hochst) hack) to a promising species for raising cattle, this work was carried out to determine concentration and accumulataion of micronutrients from the 20 th day after germination up to flowering. for this purpose, an area comprising half a hectare of "terra roxa estruturada" at piracicaba, state of s?o paulo, brazil (latitude 20°41'31"s, longitude 47°38' 01" wg, elevation 540m) suitably fertilized, was planted. as intervals of 20 days after germination up to 140 days, plants were collected and sub divided into leaves and stem. the dry matter at 80°c was analysed for b, cu, fe, mn and zn. at the age of 80 days, the following quantities of nutrients were extracted from the grass: 0.15 mg of b; 0.05 mg of cu; 3.74 mg of fe; 1.15 mg of mn and 0.29 mg of zn. it was found that the concentration of mn diminished in the leaves as the age of the plant advanced, th concentration of b in the leaves being not affected. in the stem there was a decrease in b, cu and fe as the age of the plant increased, the concentrations of mn and zn heing not affected.

Abstract: andropogon gayanus var. bisquamulatus seed were directly sowed in pots containing finely ground quartz as a substrate and maintened in the greenhouse. the plants received a nutrient solution lacking in phosphorus and in which the following levels of phosphorus were added, in mg/l: 0.0017; 0.007; 0.030; 0.120; 0.480; 1.940; 7.750 and 31.80. the critical level of phosphorus correspondent to the maximum production of dry matter at 75 days was 0.022% and the external level was 0.480 mg of p/l.

Abstract: The present work was done in the annexes of Zootechny Department Veterinary School of the Federal University of Goiás, in Goiania, from January to April, 1986. The objective was to determine the chemical composition of andropogon grass (Andropogon gayanus var. bisquamulatus cv. Planaltina) at different cutting ages (40, 54, 68 and 82 days) after uniformization, aiming hay. A randomized block design was adapted with 5 replications to study the chemical composition of the hay. Average contests of crude protein, crude fiber, matter mineral, calcium and phosphorus were determined. The information obtained in this work permitted to conclude that only at age of 82 days of regrow it doesn’t permit a haymaking production with chemical composition hay. O presente trabalho foi realizado nas dependências do Departamento de Zootecnia da Escola de Veterinária da Universidade Federal de Goiás, no município de Goiania, no período de janeiro a abril de 1986. O objetivo foi determinar a composi o química dos fenos do capim andropogon (Andropogon gayanus var. bisquamulatus cv. Planaltina) em diferentes idades de corte (40, 54, 68 e 82 dias) após a uniformiza o. Para estudar a composi o química, adotou-se um delineamento em blocos casualizados, com 5 repeti es. Determinou-se os teores médios de proteína bruta, de fibra bruta, de matéria mineral, de cálcio e de fósforo. As informa es obtidas, neste trabalho, permitiram concluir que apenas a idade de 82 dias, de rebrota, n o permitiu a produ o de feno com boa composi o química. Abstract: O presente trabalho foi realizado nas dependências do Departamento de Zootecnia da Escola de Veterinária da Universidade Federal de Goiás, no município de Goiania, no período de janeiro a setembro de 1986. O objetivo foi determinar a composi o química e o rendimento do capim Andropogon (Andropogon gayanus var. bisquamulatus cv. Planaltina) em diferentes idades de corte (40, 54, 68 e 83 dias) após a uniformiza o, visando à produ o de feno. Para estudar a composi o química e os rendimentos de matéria seca e proteína bruta antes da fena o, adotou-se um delineamento em blocos casualizados, com 5 repeti es. Determinou-se os teores médios de matéria seca, de proteína bruta, de fibra bruta, de cálcio e de fósforo, bem como os rendimentos de matéria seca e proteína bruta. As informa es obtidas, neste trabalho, permitiram concluir que as pastagens formadas com o capim Andropogon apresentam boas condi es para fena o nas idades de 54 a 68 dias de rebrota. The objective was to determine the chemical composition and productivity of Andropogon grass (Andropogon gayabus var, bisquamulatus cv. Planaltina) at different cutting ages (40, 54, 68 and 83 days) after uniformization, aiming hay production. In order to study chemical composition and productivities in dry matter and crude protein before hay making, a randomized blocks design was adopted with 5 replications. Average contents of dry matter, crude protein, crude fiber, calcium and phosphorus were determined, as well as productivities of dry matter and crude protein. The information obtained by the present work permitted to conclude that pastures formed with Andropogon grass present good conditions for haymaking at ages of 54 to 68 days after new sprouting. Abstract: The present work was done in the annexes of Zootechny Department Veterinary School of Federal University of Goiás, in Goiania, from January to April, 1986. The objective was to determine the oxalic content of andropogon grass (Andropogon gayanus var. bisquamulatus cv. Planaltina) at different cutting ages (40, 54, 68 and 82 days of regrowth and cutting uniformization). To study the oxalic acid content, a randomized blocks design was adopted with 5 replications. Average contents of oxalic acid were determined. The information obtained by the present work permitted to conclude the pasture formed with andropogon grass present. Para estudar os conteúdos de ácido oxálico no capim andropogon (Andropogon gayanus var. bisquamulatus cv. Planaltina) em diferentes idades de corte, foi realizado um ensaio nas dependências do Departamento de Zootecnia da Escola de Veterinária da Universidade Federal de Goiás, no período de janeiro a abril de 1986. Adotou-se um delineamento em blocos completos casualizados, com 5 repeti es, para avaliar o conteúdo médio de ácido oxálico nos seguintes tratamentos: T1= corte de uniformiza o (31/01/86); T2 = rebrota com 40 dias (10/03/86); T3 = rebrota com 54 dias (24/03/86); T4 = rebrota com 68 dias (07/04/86) e T5 rebrota com 82 dias (21/04/86). N o houve diferen as significativas (P>0,05) entre os tratamentos (0,25; 0,28; 0,27 e 0,28%, respectivamente, para T1, T2, T3, T4 e T5). Os conteúdos médios de ácido oxálico observados nas condi es deste trabalho est o abaixo dos níveis considerados tóxicos referendados pela literatura.

Abstract: O experimento foi conduzido em casa de vegeta o do Departamento de Ciência do Solo/UFLA, com o objetivo de testar diferentes combina es de calcário–gesso agrícola na produ o de matéria seca do sistema radicular e da parte aérea da gramínea (Andropogon gayanus Kunth var. bisquamulatus cv. Planaltina), em latossolo vermelho-amarelo, proveniente da regi o dos Campos das Vertentes, MG. Foi adotado o delineamento experimental, em blocos casualizados, esquema fatorial 2 x 5, e foram combinados calcário calcítico (1,3 t.ha-1) e dolomítico (1,6 t.ha-1), com cinco doses de gesso agrícola (0,00; 0,38; 0,75; 1,13 e 1,50 t,ha-1), em quatro repeti es. Empregaram-se colunas de PVC com 20 cm de diametro, divididas em duas se es de 15 cm de altura, unidas por fita adesiva e vedadas ao fundo com pratos plásticos. Foram feitos três cortes na parte aérea, e as raízes foram coletadas nas profundidades de 0-15 e 15-30 cm. De modo geral, a intera o calcário–gesso se mostrou significativa sobre o crescimento da espécie estudada, que respondeu em termos de produ o de matéria seca da parte aérea às doses de gesso, independentemente do tipo de calcário utilizado. A produ o de matéria seca do sistema radicular na profundidade de 15-30 cm foi bastante dependente da aplica o de gesso, o que confirma a sua importancia na corre o da camada subsuperficial. Abstract: The present work was carried out at the Veterinary School of the Universidade Federal de Goiás - GO, Brazil, from May to June 1986, to determine the voluntary intake, the apparent digestibility, the nutritive value index and the nitrogen balance using Andropogon hay (Andropogon gayanus var. biquamulatus cv. Planaltina) with 40, 54 e 68 days of regrowth. Fifteen castrated males (without defined breed) were used in a completely randomized block design with five replications. It was used the total feces collection method. The data obtained in the conditions of this work allowed to conclude that Andropogon hay making is viable when the plants were cut with 40, 54 and 68 days of regrowth, with a good nutritive value and that the occurrence of rain during the final phase of the dehydration reduced the hay quality when the plants were cut with 54 days of regrowth. O presente trabalho foi realizado no Galp o para Ensaios Metabólicos do Departamento de Zootecnia da Escola de Veterinária da Universidade Federal de Goiás, no município de Goiania, no período de maio a junho de 1986, para determinar o consumo voluntário, a digestibilidade aparente, o índice de valor nutritivo e o balan o de nitrogênio do feno do capim andropogon (Andropogon gayanus var. bisquamulatus cv. Planaltina) com 40, 54 e 68 dias de rebrota. Foram utilizados 15 carneiros, SRD, machos, castrados e o método seguido foi o de coleta total de fezes com dura o de 23 dias. Adotou-se um delineamento estatístico em blocos completos casualizados, com 5 repeti es. As informa es contidas nas condi es deste trabalho permitiram concluir que é viável a produ o de feno do capim andropogon cortado com 40, 54 e 68 dias de rebrota, com bom valor nutritivo e que a ocorrência de chuvas durante a fase final de desidrata o do corte com 54 dias reduziu a sua qualidade.

Abstract: L\'effet du stress hydrique osmotique induit par le polyéthylène glycol (PEG) a été étudié sur la germination et la croissance in vitro chez le cotonnier. Cinq concentrations différentes de PEG ont été testées et les résultats ont montré que le PEG agit négativement sur la germination des graines. La longueur des racines et des tiges diminue avec les concentrations élevées de PEG dans le milieu de culture. La croissance des feuilles est inhibée à partir de 15 g/l de PEG dans le milieu de culture. Les parties aériennes ont été plus affectées par l\'effet du PEG que les parties racinaires. Le flétrissement des plantules est observé à partir de 35 g/l de PEG dans le milieu de culture. The effect of water stress induced by polyethylene glycol (PEG) has been studied on germination and seedling growth of cotton. Five different concentrations of PEG have been tested and the results showed that PEG concentrations negatively influence seeds germination. The length of roots and stems decreases with high concentrations of PEG in medium culture. The growth of leaves is inhibited from 15 g/L of PEG in medium culture. Aerial parts have been more affected by water stress than the roots. Plantlet whithering is observed from 35 g/L of PEG in medium culture.

Abstract: this work deals with mineral nutrition of andropogon gayanus var. bisquamulatus (hochst) hack. the following parameters were studied: weight of dry matter, concentration of macro nad micronutrients on plants from 20 to 140 days old, and the coefficient of digestitility of the dry matter in relation to the age of the grass. the plants were collected, at intervals, from 20 to 140 days old, from an area of half hectare of "terra roxa estruturada", in piracicaba, state of s?o paulo, brazil. the dry matter at 80 days was analysed for n, p, k, ca, mg, s, b, cu, fe, mn, and zn contents. the coefficient of digestibility was determined "in vivo" by using the nylon bag technique. it was observed that the coefficient of digestibility decreased with the aging of the grass, and at 80 days, which corresponds to the maximum production of dry matter (58,000 kg/ha), the coeficient of digestibility for leaves and stems was 71,27% and 66.47%, respectively. when plants were 80 days old the leaves presented the following concentrations of nutrients: n (1.46%), p (0.12%), k (1.79%), ca (0.27%), mg (0.16%), s (0.07%), b (11.75 ppm), cu (4.75 ppm), fe (236.75 ppm), mn (74.50 ppm), and zn (22.25 ppm).
