(In this paper, we propose some guidelines for the classification of phoneticphonological adjustments (Clasificación de Ajustes Fonético-Fonológicos, CLAFF). Such guidelines are intended to describe and classify, from a phonetic-articulatory point of view, the adjustments that boys and girls make when, according to the standard Chilean Spanish phonological model, they unsuccessfully try to utter oral statements. These guidelines include 21 phonetic-articulatory parameters that enable to comprehensively describe the quantitative and qualitative articulatory behaviour shown in normal children’s speech.)
El inventario fonético del espa ol de Chile: principios orientadores, inventario provisorio de consonantes y sistema de representación (AFI-CL) (The phonetic inventory of chilean spanish: guiding principles, provisional inventory of consonants and system of representation (IPA-CL))

(The present article proposes a set of principles to guide the process of defining the segmental phonetic inventory of contemporary Chilean Spanish. It presents a provisional phonetic inventory of consonants based on the above-mentioned principles, using the Spanish spoken in the province of Concepción (Chile) as its point of reference. In addition, it presents a system for the phonetic representation of this and future inventories (IPA-CL) and proposes a research program with the goal of establishing a definitive phonetic inventory of contemporary Chilean Spanish. The long-term objective of this article is to spur research on both the theoretical and methodological issues presented here, and the selection and characterization of the phones of the provisional inventory.)
INTEGRACIóN FONéTICA Y MORFOLóGICA DE LOS PRESTAMOS: DATOS DEL LéXICO DOMINICANO DEL BéISBOL THE PHONETIC AND MORPHOLOGICAL INTEGRATION OF LOANWORDS: A STUDY OF THE VOCABULARY OF BASEBALL IN DOMINICAN SPANISH
ORLANDO ALBA
This article examines the processes of phonetic adaptation and morphological integration affecting baseball terms imported from English into Dominican Spanish. The data are taken from three sources: television and radio broadcasts; a word association test designed to elicit speakers' available lexicon in this semantic field; a questionnaire administered under controlled conditions. Analysis of the data indicates that the importation of new lexical items from English does not represent a threat for Spanish since the Spanish linguistic system has the ability to assimilate and integrate such items by adapting them to its own structures. In this sense, the arrival of loanwords may be viewed as a natural phenomenon that enables the language to expand and enrich its lexis without disrupting its phonological and morphological structures in the process

Often data that should be written so they are not identical due to misspellings and typos, variations in word order, use of prefixes and suffixes, among others. Phonetic techniques for duplicate detection are not geared toward the Spanish language, which makes the identification and correction of problems such as spelling errors in texts written in this language. In this paper we propose an algorithm called PhoneticSpanish to detect duplicate text strings which considers the presence of spelling errors in Spanish. The proposed algorithm was compared with nine techniques to detect duplicates. The results were satisfactory and the algorithm that performed better than the other techniques and demonstrate opportunities for improved analysis of information in Spanish.

PURPOSE: to investigate relevant therapy factors on evolution of children with phonological/phonetic disorders and theatrical approaches of therapy chosen by therapists. METHODS: eighteen speech therapists had been interviewed about therapeutic approaches and evolution of phonological/phonetic disorders children. RESULTS: it shows that phonological and phonetical approaches are predominant despite emotional factors are relevant because they create child resistances to therapy. The therapists do not study these factors in supervision or graduation courses. CONCLUSIONS: the most mentioned difficulty was the child's resistance to accept the instrumental work of speech, and it is treated as an emotional factor, being this aspect one of those referred to as deficient in the professional qualification. Phonetic and phonological approaches are the more used in therapy.

PURPOSE: To acoustically characterize the target productions of vibrant coda; to identify the presence (or not) of covert contrasts in productions omitting the vibrant coda; and to characterize how these contrasts are acoustically marked in speech. METHODS: Recordings of words produced by 30 children (3-4 years old) with typical language development were selected from a database using the software PRAAT. The words analyzed involved the production of the medial vibrant coda in stressed position, in the context of vowels /i/, /a/, and /u/. After auditory-perceptual characterization of the productions, an acoustic analysis was conducted considering the formant trajectory (F1, F2 and F3) and the relative length of the syllable containing the vibrant coda. Data were statistically analyzed. RESULTS: In the auditory-perceptual analysis, 77.8% of the productions were identified as the target vibrant coda, 12.2% were omitted, and 10% were substituted, varying according to the vowel context. Despite of the interest of Bolivian Spanish for Latin American dialectology, this variety is still one of the most unknown in the continent, specially from a diachronic point of view. This paper aims to be a contribution to the history of the Spanish language in the Andean part of the country. Thus, it describes the most important phonological features of this variety of Spanish at the beginning of 19th. century; the letters that María Guadalupe Cuenca de Moreno (high-level woman, born in Chuquisaca in 1790) writes to her husband from Buenos Aires in 1811 are the corpus used for this purpose.
The phonetic study of bilingualism The phonetic study of bilingualism

Ilha do Desterro , 2008,
Abstract: Individuals who learn a second language (L2) seldom manage to negotiate the full range of differences between the sound systems of their native language (L1) and that of the second language if they begin learning the L2 beyond early childhood. Most speech errors in an L2 can be traced to differences in the inventory of sounds used in the L1 and L2, or to differences in the possible sequences in which those sounds can be arranged to form syllables and words. Also, many of the position sensitive allophones (or "sou nds") that any two languages might be said to "share" are likely to differ in their phonetic realization. The nature of the phonetic and phonological differences that distinguish any L1- L2 pair is principally responsible for the kind of foreign accent one will hear. A German accent in English, for example, is very different from an Italian accent because English differs from German and Italian in different ways.
This paper analyses culture as a study field of Kaingang ethnic tourism. The research project consisted in fieldwork being observation and interviews the main techniques used. During 37 days in the territory of the Iraí, local tourist agents at their working places and tourists at their hotels were interviewed as well as thirty members of the native population comprising politic and social leaders amongst others. Comparing the traditional Kaingang culture as described by different authors with the actual one it was possible to observe differences and forms they have been working. Their qualification of tourees, this is natives who are conscious of their tourist role, is discussed showing that the Kaingang have an intermediate role in this aspect. Finally, it was possible to observe that the Kaingang of Iraí manage their culture in relation to tourism.
