Research into Our College English Teaching Team Construction  [cached]

Abstract: Teaching team and the construction of high-level teachers team is a key construction project in the college undergraduate teaching quality engineering, and it is an important guarantee to strengthen the teaching team construction, which will enhance the reform of higher education and improve the quality of undergraduate education. College English teaching team construction is conducive to promote college English teaching reform and improve the quality of teaching. Our college English teaching team is aimed at building up the team construction model “two centers, three teaching sections for support, exquisite course construction as the platform, second classrooms for practice bases” so as to achieve such goals as “first-class teachers team, first-class teaching contents, first-class teaching methods, first-class textbooks, first-class teaching management, first-class autonomous learning experimental base for students”. College English teaching team construction will contribute to make the goal of college English as national elaborate course, enhance students’ comprehensive English language abilities, and promote school college English teaching reform.
Causes for Ineffective College English Teaching and Relevant Countermeasures  [cached]

Abstract: Through a questionnaire and a survey, the paper analyses the present College English teaching and the contributing factors for the ineffective College English teaching. Based on the analysis, the paper suggests four countermeasures to improve College English teaching quality. According to this paper, only when teachers and educational workers continue to learn modern foreign language teaching theory, reform teaching methods and patterns, instruct students in adjusting learning strategies, train students’ intercultural communication competence, and enhance the construction of College English course, can we improve the teaching effect and students’ practical English competence.

Abstract: The presentation mode of college English class is not immutable, but it shall realize its unique development pattern under the background of modern science and technology innovation. Considering the complexity of college English itself and many secondary courses, so the college English syllabus particularly emphasizes students’ autonomous learning interest and ability in the daily learning. As a result, the experts and scholars within education academic circle both at home and abroad create the teaching mode of “flipped classroom” after long-term research and practice. Although shortcomings still exist in this new teaching model, it will be improved in the development in the future (Bergmann & Sams, 2012). This paper will analyze briefly from the perspectives of current application situation, problems existed and reflections of “flipped classroom” in college English teaching, hoping to provide theoretical support and practical guidance for Chinese colleges to implement “flipped classroom” practice.

Abstract: With the development of our economy, the improvement of the market economy system, the talent competition and the rapid development of global economic integration, the society puts forward higher requirements for university students’ quality. All walks of life are urgent to need a large number of advanced technical talents with a certain level of English. English has become an important tool to participate in international communication and competition. Therefore, it is required to improve the ability of Public English Teaching in order to meet the needs of the development of market economy. Therefore, the use of effective teaching methods and the improvement of the students’ English learning effect are very important. However, how to effectively implement public English Teaching in college and how to improve college students’ English proficiency through teaching have become an urgent problem to be solved. This research analyzes the problems existing in College English teaching, and puts forward a variety of methods to promote college English teaching effect, which can be used as a reference for college English teaching.

Abstract: Reading plays a dominant role among the four skills in foreign language acquisition for college students. Unfortunately, over the past few decades, English teaching practice shows that Chinese students are vulnerable in it. Both their reading speed and their reading skills are far from being satisfactory. Schema theory presents a very efficient course in developing students' reading skills and improving their reading abilities. Based on a descriptive research, this paper aims to expound on the schema theory, its activation and construction on college English reading class. The research shows that the application of the theory is fulfilled throughout the whole reading process by designing various activities before, during and after the reading. The results testifies the assumption that its application is beneficial to cultivate students’ reading interest, quicken their reading speed and make proper judgments.
