Some Thoughts on Using VR Technology to Communicate Culture  [PDF]
Wangqiao Rong
Open Journal of Social Sciences (JSS) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/jss.2018.610008
Abstract: VR has the technical characteristics of immersion, interactivity, multi-sense and conceptuality. Its infinity, vividness, network, mobility and cultural diversity, reality, openness, fluidity and diffusivity are highly similar. Therefore, the use of VR technology for cultural communication must be very effective. From the perspective of timeliness and operability, we can start thinking and implementing from the aspects of virtual content, product packaging design, and application environment.

Abstract:
Working fluid plays a very important role in thermodynamic cycle. The development of organic working fluids, which have been widely used in refrigeration systems and organic Rankine cycle, has entered an environment protection era. Ozone depletion potential (ODP) and global warming potential (GWP) are two most important indices for the evaluation of organic working fluid. Radi-ative efficiency is an intermediate parameter for GWP calculation and an inherent property of a substance as a constant value. From the perspective of ODP and radiative efficiency, this paper gives some thoughts on the future development of environment-friendly organic working fluids based on group contribution method. Groups that may be used in the future development of environment friendly organic working fluids are also given in this paper.
Some Thoughts on American Legal Culture: the Legal ‘Abject’ in Arthur Miller’s The Crucible and in William Gaddis’ A Frolic of His Own.  [PDF]
Anna-Maria Konsta
Intellectum , 2009,
Abstract: The paper explores through the analysis of the novels “The Crucible” by Arthur Miller and “A Frolic of His Own” by William Gaddis the way people who are initially subjects of law, i.e. holders of rights and obligations, can be transformed by the law and through the law into ‘abjects’. An ‘abject’ is considered to be a person who at some point comes in contact with ‘the fragility of the law’; in other words with actions that take place when the limits and rules fall apart and transform people into abjects of law, a ‘dead body’.
Some thoughts on theoretical physics  [PDF]
Constantino Tsallis
Physics , 2003, DOI: 10.1016/j.physa.2004.06.054
Abstract: Some thoughts are presented on the inter-relation between beauty and truth in science in general and theoretical physics in particular. Some conjectural procedures that can be used to create new ideas, concepts and results are illustrated in both Boltzmann-Gibbs and nonextensive statistical mechanics. The sociological components of scientific progress and its unavoidable and benefic controversies are, mainly through existing literary texts, briefly addressed as well.
Further Thoughts on Abnormal Chromatin Configuration and Oncogenesis
Gao-De Li
Open Access Library Journal (OALib Journal) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/oalib.1105185
Abstract:
More than 30 years ago, we published a paper entitled as “Abnormal Chromatin Configuration and Oncogenesis”, which proposed the first hy-pothesis that links oncogenesis to abnormal three-dimensional (3D) genome structure. Recently, many studies have demonstrated that the 3D genome structure plays a major role in oncogenesis, which strongly supports our hypothesis. In this paper, further thoughts about our hypothesis are presented.
Naturaleza, cultura e identidad. Reflexiones desde la tradición oral maya contemporánea Nature, culture, identity. Some thoughts from contemporary Maya oral tradition  [cached]
Adriana C. Estrada Ochoa
This article presents some reflections about problems that may rise around the construction and use of nature and culture as concepts for anthropological analysis, and their possibilites for studying mayan cultures. It suggests that mayan communities establish different kind of relationships between this two domains, as well as between humanity and animality. In contrast with the western point of view, which establishes rigid borders and insoluble differences, the mayan vision presents continuities, reversibilities and interconnections, in a universe where materiality and space seem to offer multiple possiblities of passing through for life and being.
Thoughts on "Experience of Space in Japan." Implications for Music Therapy
Isabelle Mairiaux
Voices: A World Forum for Music Therapy , 2006,
Abstract: This article presents thoughts on the experience of space, developed from a research study I have been doing during two years immersed in a very singular context where the familiar university environment contrasted with the – for me – completely unknown Japanese culture. The research study explains my motivation as well as my theme of the research: "the experience of space." The influence that my situation of being immersed in Japanese culture had on my hypothesis and research process are also developed. The study introduces some aspects of my experience of space in two different contexts: the context of everyday life experiences in Japan and the context of the butoh dance. Each context helped me to discover aspects of the experience of space, and possible implications for the music therapy context are then developed. In the study I sum up some of the discoveries underlining the negative and positive aspects this research process has led to. Finally, I evoke the learning of "humility," which is the dimension of the process most difficult to share in this article. The research study brought up some interesting subjects to investigate more in the future. One important discovery was the interdependency between perception and language (as a part of culture) and the way this implies a special attention in the music therapy context. Another interesting remark concerns the concept of boundary, and I argue that the Japanese concept of "Ma" is precious in relation to the therapeutic challenge of approaching this concept with an open mind.
Some thoughts on the control of network systems  [PDF]
Alessandro Ferrarini
Network Biology , 2011,
Abstract: The controllability of network-like systems is becoming a trendy key-issue in many disciplines, including ecology and biology. To control a biological, ecological or economic system is to make it behave according to our wishes, at the least possible cost. In this paper, I propose some ideas on networks control that do not precisely follow recent papers on the argument. By the way, since this scientific topic is still in open evolution, discordant thoughts might be helpful to the debate.

Abstract: Bio-floc technology is a technology with having some advantages such as maintaining the stability of the water environment, reducing the exchange of water, improving the survival rate of stocks, increasing production and lowering feed conversion ratio by adding organic carbon material to artificially regulate the microbial species and numbers. The study on formation conditions, composition, ecological function and several domestic and international aspects of the application of biofloc was inviewed in this paper, further research and application of it to shrimp culture in China was especially analyzed, the main research direction was put forward.
