Abstract: The analysis of major factors is submitted which need to be taken into account at construction of the automated systems. Influence of stirring speed on SiC particles distribution in A356 liquid  [PDF]

Abstract: A straight-blade mechanical stirrer was designed to stir A356-3.5vol%SiCp liquid in a cylindrical crucible with the capability of systematically investigating the influence of rotating speed of stirrer on the distribution of SiC particles in A356 liquid. The experimental results show that the vertical distribution of SiC particles in A356 liquid can be uniform when the rotating speed of stirrer is 200 rpm, but the radial distribution of SiC particles in A356 liquid is always nonhomogeneous regardless of the rotating speed of stirrer. The radial centrifugalization ratio of SiC particles in A356 liquid between the center and the periphery of crucible increases with the rotating speed of stirrer. The results were explained in the light of SiC particles motion subject to a combination of stirring and centrifugal effect.

Optimization of Stirrer with Various Parameters in Reverberation Chamber

Abstract: Reverberation chambers are widely used in electromag-netic compatibility test facilities because they provide a large working volume and are cheaper than other types of test facilities. In addition, they provide a statistically uniform field and generate a high maximum electric field within a relatively large volume. The volume of the cavity, the structure of the stirrer, and high tested frequency must be used in the reverberation chamber appropriately. Changing a volume of cavity dimensions and test frequency can be difficult in the reverberation chamber because they were determined already in the design process. In these cases, the stirrer should be changed. We investigated of the effects of various stirrer angles and heights on a reverberation chamber. The optimization of the stirrer with respect to various stirrer parameters was investigated; these parameters are related to field uniformity, the quality factor, stirred efficiency, and electric field polarity. Our results suggest that a reverberation chamber can be successfully operated if careful decisions are made regarding the stirrer design.

Abstract: The paper deals with temporary repairs. Applying a different technology, using a reproduction part, or performing a repair by a serviceman without the competence is typical features of temporary repairs. Temporary repair makes possible for an object to fulfil its function for a limited time, until regular repairs can be made. The complexity perplex modern vehicles their reparability. It is necessary to look for the new procedures of the implementation so-called temporary repairs. The authors suggested procedure battle damage assessment and repair, which they expressed in the form of diagrams. There is also description of new technological procedures, which could be possibly applied in field of temporary repairs. These new procedures are applied on land (wheeled and tracked) vehicles parts and their sufficiency for Czech Army conditions is tested. The main purpose of the thesis is defining operating procedures of the most useful methods, including their verifications and proposal of tools needed for repairs. These tools should be included in equipment of vehicles operated in Czech Army. The thesis is primarily focused on repairs of mechanical parts and units and also of reparation of fuel, hydraulic and high pressure systems.

Abstract: We investigate the flow generated by a magnetic stirrer in cylindrical containers by optical observations, PIV measurements and particle and dye tracking methods. The tangential flow is that of an ideal vortex outside of a core, but inside downwelling occur with a strong jet in the very middle. In the core region dye patterns remain visible over minutes indicating a pure stirring and mixing property in this region. The results of quantitative measurements can be described by simple formulas in the investigated region of the stirring bar's rotation frequency. The tangential flow turns out to be dynamically similar to that of big atmospheric vortices like dust devils and tornadoes.

Abstract: Purpose: The result of this paper is verification of relation between constructional features and technological features. The basic tool of the series of types of technologies creating is algorithmic method. The worked out datum of these methods is already elaborated ordered families of construction in form of series of types or modular series of elements construction.Design/methodology/approach: This paper shows algorithmic understanding of getting input data in the process of technology creating based on data of construction. Basic tool of realization of data selection for the process of manufacture is algorithmic method and use of advanced graphic programme.Findings: The basic result of the analyzed problem is the realization of relations between construction and technology for specified series of types of elements of machine engines. Moreover the algorithmic method with its essential constituents which determine input date of algorithmization of processes of selection of technological features on bases of constructional features was introduced.Research limitations/implications: Analyzed methods develop algorithmization of designing environment and support integration with the prepare production process (relational databases, theory of automatic classification).Practical implications: Described methods were developed on practical examples of creating the technological module systems of hydraulic cylinders used in mining, slag cars used in metallurgy and gears series of types The represented methods are applied for the series of type of units of servo-motors hydraulic practical in mining.Originality/value: Algorithmic method and CAM method are basis for selection of technological features in the process of already ordered technology families creating. This method is characterized with possibility of shortening time connected with preparation of manufacture.

Abstract: 以针刺炭纤维整体毡为预制体, 采用呋喃树脂加压浸渍、加压固化和炭化制得密度为1.45 g/cm3的多孔体C/C材料, 然后熔融渗硅制得密度为2.37 g/cm3的炭纤维增强双基体炭/碳化硅(C/C-SiC)材料。结果表明: 熔融渗硅中反应生成的SiC基体主要分布在胎网层、针刺纤维附近以及无纬布层的纤维束间; C/C-SiC材料的弯曲强度为165 MPa, 垂直和平行于无纬布铺层方向的压缩强度分别为210MPa和196MPa; C/C-SiC材料的摩擦性能稳定,平均动摩擦系数为0.38,静摩擦系数为0.40, 和对偶件的线磨损率分别为5.3μm/(面?次)和3.7μm/(面?次), 其磨损过程是由磨粒磨损、黏着磨损和氧化磨损共同作用的结果。
Experimental Investigation on the Impact of Aeration Rate and Stirrer Speed on Micro-Aerobic Batch Fermentation

Abstract: The impact of aeration rate and stirrer speed on micro-aerobic fermentation is studied at laboratory scale. Result suggests that with Baker’s yeast, an increase in aeration rates from very low value can improve bioethanol productivity and yield because it can enhance cell viability. At constant stirrer speed of 150 rpm, the increase in aeration rate from 1 to 1.5 LPM leads to proportional increase in peak Oxygen Uptake Rate (OUR) from 600 to 1000 mM L-1 h. This increase coincides with the increase in yield by 7.5%. Interestingly at constant aeration rate of 1.5 LPM, an increase in stirrer speed from 150 to 250 rpm leads to decrease in peak OUR from 1000 to 457 mM L-1 h but increase in yield by 64%. In conclusion, both stirrer speed and aeration rate are important factors which have complex impacts on hydrodynamics and microbial metabolism, which in turn affect productivity and yield. Further study using CFD modeling and simulation method is required to gain better insights into how aeration rate and stirrer speed affect metabolism via the mixing mechanisms in a bioreactor.
