The evaluation of agility in supply chain of mass construction associations in Iran: A case study of construction firm

Abstract: Survival of production systems has become complicated with the emergence of new areas in business. In other words, changes in business environment, which are the results of changes in customers’ needs lead us to an uncertainty in making decisions; therefore there is a need to have a flexible supply chain to confront the changes. Agility is considered as a solution to enable mass construction associations to maintain in a competitive environment of housing industry in Iran. The aim of this study is to introduce a method to evaluate the agility of supply chain for mass construction associations. The proposed method of this paper designed questionnaires to evaluate the agility of supply chain based on identified criteria and indices. The questionnaires were filled by experts and scholars and then analyzed with SPSS software. Findings of this study show that the agility of the case study of this paper is ranked 2 out of 5 or 40%. According to the evaluations of agility, the highest score goes to financial and the lowest score belongs to information technology.

Abstract: Under the environment of supply chain, enterprises not only put forward higher request to the product itself, but also focus more on the supplier selection criteria. In the early stage of the supply chain construction enterprises, we will find that there are many outstanding suppliers to choose from; facing a large number of suppliers, an effective way of supplier evaluation is very important. In this paper, the principal component analysis method is applied in supplier evaluation index, by extracting the principal components of the multi index comprehensive evaluation, and quantitatively provides guidance and reference for the selection of suppliers for the enterprises in the supply chain.

Abstract: Nowadays, Business is more challenging. Many of the companies increase their focus on creating the best value to the targeted customer. The center of business concern is to provide valuable product or services which can meet the customer need. The main purpose of this research is evaluating the business performance through SCM implementation in Malaysia manufacturing industry. A total of 248 respondents were selected by using purposive sampling. The data were analyzed to find the relationship between business performance and the implementation of supply chain management. Reliability and validity tests also employed. The research findings indicate significant correlation between SCM implementation and business performance. Based on the findings, strategic recommendations are proposed to implement the SCM for the manufacturing industry in Malaysia.

Abstract: In the current conditions of competitive market, companies shed light on not only their own organization’s affairs, but also on the identification of other relevant resources and factors out of their organization to have appropriate reaction in facing with them. That is to utilize opportunities to gain competitive advantages and enhance their level of competitive capability. The key concern in a supply chain is to coordinately managing and controlling of all the primary and support activities of the company that will be achieved with an appropriate integration of supply chain. In fact, having an integrated approach to the processes, internal and external, and emphasis on win-win approach instead of negotiating approach between elements of the chain are the most important issues in supply chain integration context. This study investigates the impact of supply chain integration on competitive capability. According to the findings of the study, supply chain integration has direct positive influence on competitive capability. In more depth, integration with suppliers has direct negative impact on competitive capability elements of cost leadership and differentiation. Internal integration has no direct impact on competitive capability. On the other hand, internal integration influences on cost leadership and differentiation indirectly through integration with suppliers and integration with customers. So, it can be resulted from findings that internal integration as a foundation for supply chain integration has direct influence on integration with supply chain partners, suppliers and customers, and eventually, results in improvement of competitive capabilities of the organization.

Abstract: A fundamental principle of the resource-based (RBV) of the firm is that the basis for a competitive advantage lies primarily in the application of bundles of valuable strategic capabilities and resources at a firm’s or supply chain’s disposal. These capabilities enact research activities and outputs produced by industry funded R&D bodies. Such industry lead innovations are seen as strategic industry resources, because effective utilization of industry innovation capacity by sectors such as the Australian beef industry are critical, if productivity levels are to increase. Academics and practitioners often maintain that dynamic supply chains and innovation capacity are the mechanisms most likely to deliver performance improvements in national industries.. Yet many industries are still failing to capitalise on these strategic resources. In this research, we draw on the resource-based view (RBV) and embryonic research into strategic supply chain capabilities. We investigate how two strategic supply chain capabilities (supply chain performance differential capability and supply chain dynamic capability) influence industry-led innovation capacity utilization and provide superior performance enhancements to the supply chain. In addition, we examine the influence of size of the supply chain operative as a control variable. Results indicate that both small and large supply chain operatives in this industry believe these strategic capabilities influence and function as second-order latent variables of this strategic supply chain resource. Additionally respondents acknowledge size does impacts both the amount of influence these strategic capabilities have and the level of performance enhancement expected by supply chain operatives from utilizing industry-led innovation capacity. Results however also indicate contradiction in this industry and in relation to existing literature when it comes to utilizing such e-resources.

Abstract: Impotent planning system in house providing process is the result of inadequate housing management system in theoretical, empirical, and operational fields. In addition, Mass Construction industry in Iran confronts with other problems such as instability in raw material prices, unsteadiness in production and investment laws and regulations, frailty of transportation infrastructure, international sanctions and etc. Furthermore, customers’ needs, lower costs, and greater customizations lead mass producing to search for new solutions and novel producing system. Agility is offered as a strategy to enable Mass Construction associations to be maintained in the competition of constantly changing market in Iran. In such a market, previous approaches lose their capabilities in supply chain. Thus to achieve agility by Mass Construction association is the chief aim of this study. This study is descriptive-analytic and can be identified as developmental –functional considering its target. After surveying previous research literature and using experts’ opinions, we investigated final agile sub criteria of supply chain and then we used interpretive- structural modeling approach to determine the relation among sub criteria and to offer an agile supply chain model. Surveying research literature and experts’ opinions lead us to identify 8 criteria (society, government, financial, information technology, market, partnership, quality and technology) and also 22 sub criteria for supply chain’s agility. Then the results were analyzed through interpretive-structural approach and relation of criteria and sub criteria and their consequence were achieved. These relations showed that government and infrastructure investment, culture, regulations and responses to social and environmental issues are the basis of agility in mass housing productions’ supply chain. This model helps supply chain managers to have strategic planning to enhance agility in supply chain and find effective sub criteria and criteria to invest on.

E-Business Strategy in Supply Chain Collaboration: An Empirical Study of B2B E-Commerce Project in Taiwan

Abstract: With global economic development and growing international competition, supply chain collaboration (SCC) has become both an important strategic and operational issue. The organization therefore must rethink both its electronic business (e-business) and global supply chain management (SCM) strategies. This research investigates electronic supply chain (e-supply chain) integration through business-to-business (B2B) electronic commerce (e-commerce) application in Taiwan’s information technology (IT) industry. The purpose of the study is to explore the critical success factors (CSFs) of e-business strategy impacting on SCC. The qualitative case study approach was adopted to investigate and analyze six international companies in Taiwan. The cases were all participator of the government supported ’industrial automation and electronic business program’ (IAEBP) and had implemented B2B e-commerce projects for SCC. A computer-assisted qualitative data analysis software – NVivo is adopted that enables data coding and analysis to be performed. The developed research conceptual framework for this study will be used in the analysis of the findings. The findings present CSFs from the cross-case analysis that are categorized and discussed in term of key collaboration issues to impact the successful implementation of B2B e-commerce project by the firms. This provides academic and practical insights into e-business strategy for SCC.

Abstract: 摘 要: 以组织学习为切入点、相关文献为理论依据构建了组织学习、关系资本与供应链绩效关系的研究模型,并提出相应量表对其进行测度。利用162份供应链企业的调查问卷数据进行逐步回归,以探究三者之间的关系,并运用Bootstrap方法进行稳健性检验,从而使实证结果更具有说服力。研究结果表明,组织学习能有效促进关系资本的建立和供应链绩效的提高,且关系资本在组织学习对供应链绩效的推动作用中扮演中介角色。根据研究结果提出了相关对策建议,旨在促进供应链的高效运作,提高供应链运营绩效。
Abstract: The present study, by taking organizational learning as the breakthrough and relevant literature as theoretical proof, constructs a research model of the relationship between organizational learning, relational capital and supply chain performance, and proposes corresponding scales to measure it. The study employs the survey data of stepwise regression of 162 sets of research questionnaires from supply chain industries to explore the relationship among the three, and takes robustness test by using the Bootstrap method so as to make the empirical results more convincing. The results show that organizational learning can effectively promote the establishment of relationship capital and the improvement of supply chain performance, and that relational capital plays an intermediary role in promoting the performance of supply chain. According to the research results, relevant countermeasures and suggestions are put forward to promote the performance of supply chain

Abstract: Network topology optimization has been widely researched. Since market competition has gradually developed into competition among the supply chain information systems, the network topology optimization of supply chain information systems has been in urgent need. However, the network topology optimization of supply chain information systems is still in its early stages and still has some challenges. So a description of typical seven network topologies for various supply chain information systems has been given. The generic characteristics of each network topology can be summarized. To analyze the optimization of network topology optimization of supply chain information systems, a numeric model has been established based on these general characteristics. A genetic algorithm is applied in the network topology optimization of supply chain information systems model to achieve the minimum cost and shortest path. Finally, our experiment results are provided to demonstrate the robustness and effectiveness of the proposed model.
