Ambiente & Sociedade , 2003,
Abstract: No espa o rural brasileiro coexistem a pequena gest o comunitária e grandes consumidores de água.

Dry matter production, proportion of leaf blades and chemical composition of Brachiaria spp. harvested at intervals of 42 days of regrowth, in Diamantina, MG were evaluated. The DM, CP, NDF, ADF and lignin contents were analyzed in a split-split plot completely randomized design, with four replicates. Five cultivars of Brachiaria were distributed in the plots, two cuts in the split-plot, and two experimental years in the split-split plot. The dry matter production and the proportion of leaf blades were analyzed in a split plot completely randomized design, with cultivars in the plots and years in the subplots. The dry matter production in the second year (3 cuts) was higher than in the first (2 cuts), especially with the cultivars Basilisk, Xaraés and Llanero. Generally, the cultivars presented satisfactory levels of CP, with higher values in the second year. The contents of NDF were lower in the second year and the lowest levels of lignin were in the first year. Cultivars Xaraés and Marandu stand out for the high proportion of leaves and presented chemical composition similar to the Basilisk cultivar. Based on the chemical composition and dry matter production, Xaraés and Basilisk cultivars are recommended for cultivation in the Jequitinhonha High Valley.

Os adubos verdes utilizados foram: crotalária (Crotalariaspectabilis), feij o-de-porco (Canavalia ensiformis), feij o-guandu-an o (Cajanus cajan), lab-lab (Lablab purpureus), mucuna-an (Mucuna deenringiana) e tremo o-branco (Lupinus albus L.). Green manuring is a positive practice that reduces the impact on agricultural production systems aimed at sustainable land use. The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of six legumes used for green manure, the productivity of biomass, land cover and use of photosynthetic active radiation in the region of the Vale do Jequitinhonha, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The experiment was conducted during March to October, 2010 in randomized block design with four replications. Green manures were used: Crotalaria spectabilis, Canavalia ensiformis, Cajanus cajan, Lablab purpureus, Mucuna deenringiana and Lupinus albus. Green manures had high yields of biomass, however, different peaks of ground cover and radiation interception were observed. The largest accumulations of dry and fresh matter were observed in C. spectabilis followed by C. cajan. Amongthe species studied, C. ensiformis has a larger growing season, representing great potential for soil covering, and is importantfor the interception of photosynthetically active radiation.

Abstract: small community administrations and large consumers of water coexist in the brazilian rural area. in recent years, community regulation of resources and the large consumer enterprises have entered into confrontation because of water, forcing a reflection upon the logic of the uses and dialogues between the apparent irrationality of rural populations and the development proposals. this article analyzes the lack of synchronization between those logics and perspectives, analyzing the case of high jequitinhonha, in the northeast of minas gerais. the article initially comments on the recent and growing emergence of water scarcity and how this shortage tends to result in conflict and legislation. then, the regulation of such shortage is discussed _ which consolidated in the brazilian water legislation. following that, the article analyzes the usual water tariffs currently collected in the rural communities of the jequitinhonha valley in minas gerais, and, finally, it contrasts the usual regulations with the water legislation, analyzing the small consumers' absence in the construction of the agencies and in the exercise of legislation.
