Research and Practice on Basic Composition and Cultivation Pattern of College Students’ Innovative Ability  [cached]

Abstract: Facing the increasingly fierce international competition, it has been the core of higher education to explore how to cultivate college students with innovative ability. College students’ innovative ability is mainly composed of basic ability, innovative thinking and innovative actions. In conformity to the above composition, the cultivation pattern should include learning basic knowledge, training innovative thoughts and learning innovative skills. The learning and practice in school, students’ independent learning and social practice serve as the three main sections in the development of innovative ability. In addition, some effective methods are beneficial for college students’ innovative thoughts and practice including schools providing optional courses on innovative education, teachers conducting researches on education and teaching and applying innovative education theories and practical innovative skills to professional courses.

Abstract: This article is a part of the report for the research project ``Reform of the Course System and Teaching Content of Higher Mathematics (For Non-Mathematical Specialties)'' in 1995, supported by the National Ministry of Education. There are thirteen universities participated in this project. The Report not only reflects results of our participants, but also includes valuable opinions of many colleagues in the mathematical education circles. In this article, after a brief description on the history and reform situation of the higher mathematics education in China, attention concentrates to three aspects. They are: main problems in this field existing; the functions of mathematics accomplishment for college students; these concern course system, teaching and learning philosophy, such as overemphasized specialty education, overlooking to arouse rational thinking and aesthetic conceptions, etc. The last aspect contains a discussion on several important relationships, such as: knowledge impartment and quality cultivation, inherence and modernization of the mathematical knowledge, teacher's guidance and students' initiative, mathematical basic training and mathematical application consciousness and ability cultivation, etc.

Abstract: The practice teaching which can not be replaced by others is very important to cultivate students’ innovational ability. As viewed from the cultivation of innovational ability, the practice teaching still has many problems. In various forms of the practice teaching, students’ innovational thinking should be cultivated mainly, and the practice teaching system which is propitious to the cultivation of innovational ability should be established.

Abstract: Limited research exists on the effects of teaching styles on college mathematics between face-to-face and online students. The purpose of this experimental quantitative research was to examine the effects of teaching styles on college mathematics between face-to-face and online students. The research question was “What are the effects of teaching styles on college mathematics between face-to-face and online students?” The participants were college students who took math classes either face-to-face or online. The participants were taught by the same professors the same math curricula. The findings of this research may shed further light on the effects of teaching styles on college mathematics between face-to-face and online students.

Abstract: The critical aspect of cultivating mathematical ability is the training of mathematics thinking. In the process of mathematics education, it should coach the creative thinking continually, and College mathematics will play an important role in training students’ thinking ability. As the matter of fact, mathematics can explain many phenomena simply and accurately. Through the living feeling, leading students to study these things, which can form the habit of being happy to analyze mathematics and communicate with each other. It could strengthen students’ awareness of applying mathematics and improve the ability of using mathematics. According to three effective ways of coaching students, in order to apply mathematic knowledge in all kinds of social topics, the author will study how to train student’s mathematical thinking from the perspective of college mathematical teaching in this topic.

Abstract: Purpose—This paper examines whether there is significant difference between Mykolas Romeris University and College of Applied Social Sciences students, their knowledge of Mathematics acquired at school, and the choice to take the final Mathematics examination or not; and their further studying results and motivation.Design/methodology/approach—Test results are analysed by statistical hypothesis testing methods.Findings—The motivation of University students, who have taken the Mathematics examination, to study and achieve better results, is stronger.Research limitations/implications—the represented method is one of the ways to inquiry of such problems.Practical implications—This study will help to identify the University and College students’ weaknesses and to show ways to improve the quality of studies.Originality/Value—The study should allow to measure the average time it takesUniversity and College students of social sciences to understand a mathematical text.Keywords: teaching mathematics, checking knowledge tests, quality of studies, statistical methods.Research type: research paper.

Abstract: Considering the status quo of college English teaching, we implement stratified teaching, which reflects the idea of stratification in terms of teaching objects, teaching management, teaching process and assessment and evaluation, makes each students get development to the greatest extent in interactive teaching practice of teaching and learning and facilitates students’ cultivation and improvement of practical competence in English usage. Stratified teaching should be consistent with positioning of the school and the goal and requirement of talent cultivation and satisfy requirements of individualized teaching at the time of reflecting characteristics of agricultural and forestry schools and subjects.

Abstract: The new demand is put forward for the cultivation of fashion-major students because of the change of the development modes in textile industry. However, College English Teaching nowadays is still conducted with the CET4-oriented goal, which can’t satisfy the demand of the companies or the enterprises for talented people with strong professional capability, especially in the textile industry. In view of inconsistency between poor professional ability of fashion-major students and social standard for talents, the reform based on ability-oriented TEP (oral) is conducted. This paper aims to reflect on the cultivation of fashion-major students based on the curriculum reform centered on TEP (oral), suggesting that it is the best way to integrate the cultivation of professional abilities into the college English teaching process and practice process along with some effective and constructive suggestions.

Abstract: The dynamic nature of linear and vector algebra, differential calculus or integration, could be in a conjunction with dynamic/interactive method of display. Although GeoGebra provides multiple representations of mathematical objects, it can help students to discover connections between mathematical objects and their graphical representation. Students take more responsibility for their own learning, and the dynamics of classroom activity shift to more discussion, interest, motivation to study and cooperative learning. The contribution of this paper is that new trends in technology and learning are shown. In technical sense, this paper presents Geogebra applet, which could be especially important for the future development of e-learning of College mathematics. In methodological sense, contribution of this paper is presentation of methodological frames on several specifics examples. The aim of this paper to show how concepts of dynamic geometry can be applied for topics in calculus with suggested GeoGebra software tools. In addition, author emphasizes the important role of free open-source software packages for mathematics teaching world-wide.
