Abstract: OBJETIVO: avaliar crian as e adolescentes, usuários de próteses auditivas, buscando investigar o benefício proporcionado pela amplifica o sonora por meio do teste Listas de Senten as em Português e do Questionário de avalia o do benefício em crian as e adolescentes, e verificar se existe correla o entre os resultados obtidos por meio dos dois instrumentos de avalia o. MéTODO: estudo retrospectivo, onde foram avaliados 13 sujeitos com idades entre oito e 14 anos, de ambos os sexos, com perda auditiva de no máximo, grau moderadamente severo na melhor orelha, usuários de próteses auditivas bilateralmente há mais de dez meses e protetizados por um Programa de Saúde Auditiva. Foi realizada anamnese, nova avalia o audiológica básica e aplicados o teste Listas de Senten as em Português e o Questionário de Avalia o do Beneficio em crian as e adolescentes. RESULTADOS: os resultados obtidos no Teste de Listas de Senten as em Português e no questionário mostraram que houve benefício com o uso das próteses, tanto no silêncio, quanto no ruído. Entretanto, n o houve correla o estatisticamente significante entre os resultados. CONCLUS O: embora n o tenha sido verificada correla o estatisticamente significante entre os resultados obtidos por meio dos dois instrumentos de avalia o, foi observada melhora no desempenho de reconhecimento de fala fazendo uso das próteses através do teste Listas de Senten as em Português, tanto na avalia o no ruído, quanto no silêncio e, em resposta ao questionário, os avaliados referiram benefício com o uso da amplifica o sonora. Abstract: Introduction: In Brazil, it is rare studies with using deaf children of auditory device above of seven years. Objective: To investigate the benefit supplied for the amplification in deaf children to 7 years old to 11 years old using auditory device, under the perspective of the proper child and the adults with who it more coexists, and to verify if the time of conviviality of the adults with the child intervenes with their answers. Method: One is about a clinical and experimental study. They had participated of the study 48 citizens, divided in 4 distinct groups: G1- 12 deaf children; G2- 12 adults with average companionship of 40 weekly hours with the deaf child; G3- 12 adults with average companionship of 20 weekly hours with the deaf child; G4- 12 adults with average companionship of 10 weekly hours with the deaf child. All the children were using of device bilaterally and presented auditory loss of severe or deep degree. Results: The results indicate damage in the auditory abilities of the children evaluated had to the difficulties faced for them to listen to elements gifts in situations of its daily one. The time of companionship with the child did not have differences in the results between the different groups in agreement. Conclusion: The viability of the evaluation of the proportionate benefit for the auditory device in children was evidenced clinically on the basis of the information of the family. The device of individual sonorous amplification exerted influence in the auditory abilities of the evaluated children, although the proportionate benefit for its use to be lesser of what the waited one.

Abstract: objective: evaluate the proportionate benefit by the sound amplification in children and teenagers attended by the program of hearing health attention by the federal university of santa maria (ufsm). method: participated from these study 63 individuals with age between 3 and 14 years and their family. for the evaluate the benefit proportionate by the sound amplification was applied the infant toddler meaningful auditory integration scale (it-mais), for children with less than 4 years old; the meaningful auditory integration scale (mais), for infants from 4 to 7 years and the questionnaire of evaluation from the benefit in infants and young, for the individuals from 8 to 14 years. results: only one individual could be evaluated through the mais scale, and the average punctuation found in the evaluation of the hearing behaviors was of 19,9. were evaluated 52 individuals through the questionnaire of evaluation of benefit in infants and teenagers, and the positive answers related to the benefit proportionate by the prosthesis in different situations were the most found in all items. conclusions: was verified the benefit proportionate by the sound amplification, in different situations of daily life, such as from the patient's perspective as from his family. in some cases, where were found little or none benefit, there were influence of others clinical alterations, besides the hearing loss, influencing the effective use of the hearing aids.

Abstract: Based on the quantum transport equation for the electron-phonon system, the absorption coefficient of sound (acoustic phonons) by absorption of laser radiation in cylindrical quantum wires is calculated for the case of monophoton absorption process and the case of multiphoton absorption process. Analytical expressions and conditions for the absorption of sound are obtained. Differences between the two cases of monophoton absorption and of multiphoton absorption are discussed; numerical computations and plots are carried out for a GaAs/GaAsAl quantum wire. The results are compared with bulk semiconductors and quantum wells.

Abstract: Purpose: The main purpose of the study was to determine the efficiency of mechanoacoustic piezoceramic power head with resonance frequency of 26.4 kHz, used in acoustic processing of liquid steel. The efficiency was determined due to compressive force quantity of piezoelectrical ceramic, characterized by the moment turning circumferential screws of the head.Design/methodology/approach: The research was conducted on a water model. Efficiency was determined depending on the pressure force of active and passive part of the head, specified by torque moment within the range of 25-35 Nm and depending on the medium active power on the output of the generator within the range of 50-150 W. The mechanoacoustic efficiency was determined by calorimetrical method.Findings: The acquired findings indicate relations between the radiation power inflicted, the force turning circumferential screws and the mechanoacoustic efficiency of power head.Research limitations/implications: The results obtained shall be used while designing and operating power heads.Practical implications: It is necessary to consider the mechanoacoustic efficiency of the applied power head during sound amplification of liquid centers.Originality/value: Acoustic processing may be the last stage of steel ingot quality forming process, therefore it is necessary to learn all the parameters influencing its efficiency.

Abstract: OBJETIVO: verificar o benefício do aparelho de amplifica o sonora individual na popula o idosa de Porto Velho, Rond nia e regi o, além de comparar os achados encontrados com o grau da perda auditiva instalada na popula o estudada. MéODO: fizeram parte deste estudo 18 idosos com idade entre 60 e 82 anos, portadores de deficiência auditiva neurossensorial de grau leve a moderadamente severo. O benefício foi avaliado por meio do questionário Abbreviated Profile of Hearing Aid Benefit - APHAB, nas condi es sem e com prótese auditiva, sendo tal questionário aplicado no momento da adapta o e três meses após a mesma. Para análise das respostas foram consideradas as seguintes subescalas: Facilidade de comunica o, ruído ambiental, ruído reverberante e avers o a sons. O benefício obtido por subescala foi comparado com o grau da perda auditiva de cada sujeito. RESULTADOS: foi verificado benefício nas subescalas facilidade de comunica o, ruído ambiental e ruído reverberante, tendo tal achado apresentado diferen a estatisticamente significante. Quanto à rela o do benefício com o grau da perda, verificou-se, dentre os sujeitos com perda auditiva simétrica, maior benefício nos que apresentavam perda auditiva neurossensorial de grau moderado, porém dentre os indivíduos com perdas auditivas de graus diferentes, n o foi possível verificar rela o entre o grau da perda e o benefício obtido pelos mesmos. CONCLUS O: houve redu o das dificuldades auditivas com o uso da amplifica o sonora em ambientes favoráveis, reverberantes e com elevado nível de ruído. PURPOSE: to verify the benefit of an individual sound amplification device in the elderly people from Porto Velho, Rond nia and surrounding area, also comparing the results to the degree of hearing loss installed in this population. METHOD: 18 elderly people aged from 60 to 82 years old were part of this study. They suffer from mild to moderately severe sensorineural hearing loss. The benefit was evaluated by the Abbreviated Profile of Hearing Aid Benefit - APHAB questionnaire under conditions of with and without hearing aids which was applied at the moment of adaptation and three months later. For analysis of the responses were considered the following subscales: Ease of communication, environmental noise, reverberant noise and sound aversion. The provided benefit was evaluated according to the degree of hearing loss by each subject. Abstract: Introduction: A unilateral hearing loss is characterized by decreased hearing in one ear. Objective: To evaluate the benefit on the location after hearing the adaptation of hearing aids Individual (HA) in individuals with unilateral hearing loss. Method: A prospective study of 31 individuals aged between 18 and 75 years and both genders with unilateral hearing loss of various types and grades, answered a questionnaire to evaluate the location of the sound source, by using the "Survey of hearing ability of the location of the sound source." The instrument was applied in two situations: without the use of HA and the use of hearing aids. Results: Patients with mild hearing loss and received a moderate score of 3.35 with use of hearing aids and hearing loss, severe and profound absence of an improvement of 3.05 1.39 and 1.38 respectively. Conclusion:Benefits were obtained with the use of hearing aids on the auditory localization in subjects with unilateral hearing loss, emphasizing the importance of the use of amplification.

Abstract: A new device, the opto-acoustic parametric amplifier (OAPA), is introduced, which is analogous to an optical parametric amplifier (OPA). The radiation pressure reaction of light on the reflective surface of an acoustic resonator provides nonlinearity similar to the Kerr effect in the OPA. The OAPA can be tuned to operate in two regimes. In the positive gain regime, an acoustic signal is directly amplified. In the negative gain regime, we show that the acoustic resonator can be cooled to the quantum ground state.
