Abstract: Atherothrombosis, which directly threatens people's health and lives, is the main cause of morbidity and mortality all over the world. Platelets play a key role in the development of acute coronary syndromes (ACSs) and contribute to cardiovascular events. Oral antiplatelet drugs are a milestone in the therapy of cardiovascular atherothrombotic diseases. In recent years, many reports have shown the possibility that “resistance” to oral anti-platelet drugs and many adverse reactions, such as serious bleeding risk, which provides an impetus for developing new anti-platelet drugs possesses highly efficiency and fewer adverse effects. Study on the blood stasis syndrome and promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis is the most active field of research of integration of traditional and western medicine in China. Blood-stasis syndrome and platelet activation have close relationship, many Chinese herb and formulas for promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis possess definite anti-platelet effect. This paper covers the progress of anti-platelet mechanism of Chinese herb and formulas for promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis and is to be deeply discussed in further research.

Abstract: The research of stem cells has become a hotpoint in the area of medical sciences in recent years. Some research results have shown that stem cells of bone marrows can be transversely transformed into cardiocytes and vascular en-dothelial cells to recover injured myocardium and it is found in the last years, in particular, that some medicines are able to mobilize the stem cells of bone marrow to reach peripheral blood and then injured myocardium. Such new discoveries have provided the study of traditional Chinese medicine with a new train of thought. Now that clinical practice has confirmed that the treatment of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis has good curative effect for ischernic cardiovascular diseases, the subject of whether this kink of treatment can play such a role as to mobilize the stem cells of bone marrow is worth deep studies. In this article this subject is deeply discussed in the hope that the mechanisms of the treatment of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis for cardiovascular diseases can be further expounded on the basis of the latest research results of modern sciences.

Abstract: 目的:研究不同活血化瘀方对扩张型心肌病小鼠心肌细胞的作用及对NF?拨?B通路的影响。方法:240只BALB/c小鼠随机分为方剂A组、方剂B组、模型组和空白组,每组60只。前3组采用柯萨奇B3m病毒制作实验室病毒性扩张型心肌病模型,方剂A组、方剂B组小鼠造模后分别以方剂A和方剂B灌胃治疗,模型组和空白组小鼠均灌注等量的纯水,1次/d,连续5周。比较各组小鼠的心脏质量指数。运用HE和VG染色法观察各组小鼠心肌细胞的病理学改变。采用TUNEL法检测小鼠心肌细胞的凋亡情况。采取RT??PCR法和免疫组化法检测各组小鼠心肌细胞NF?拨?B mRNA和蛋白的表达情况。结果:方剂A组、方剂B组和模型组小鼠心脏质量指数、心肌胶原容积分数、凋亡心肌细胞数及NF?拨?B mRNA和蛋白的表达均高于空白组(P<0.05);方剂A组和方剂B组小鼠的上述5个指标均低于模型组(P<0.05);方剂A组上述5个指标均低于方剂B组(P<0.05)。结论:不同活血化瘀方对扩张型心肌病小鼠心肌细胞的改善作用和对NF?拨?B通路的影响有差异。
Aim: To study the effect of different promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis prescriptions on myocardial cells of mice with dilated cardiomyopathy and the effect on the NF?拨?B pathway.Methods: A total of 240 BALB/c mice were allocated into 4 groups with 60 in each group:group A,group B,model group,and control group.The model of dilated cardiomyopathy was made by B3m virus in the first 3 groups. The model mice in group A and group B were treated by two kinds of activating blood and removing blood stasis decoction. The heart mass index of the mice was compared. The pathological changes of myocardial cells from the mice were observed by HE and VG staining. The apoptosis of myocardial cells was detected by TUNEL. The expressions of NF?拨?B protein and mRNA were detected by immunohistochemical method and RT??PCR.Results: The heart mass index, myocardial collagen volume fraction, apoptosis of myocardial cells, and expressions of NF?拨?B protein and mRNA of group A, group B and the model group were higher than the control group(P<0.05). The 5 indexes of group A and group B were lower than those in the model group(P<0.05). And the 5 indexes of group A were lower than those in group B(P<0.05).Conclusion: The effects of different promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis prescriptions on myocardial cells of mice with dilated cardiomyopathy and the effect on the NF?拨?B pathway are different
Changes of eye signs in chronic hepatitis B patients with blood stasis syndrome

Abstract: Objective: To study the characteristics of eye signs in chronic hepatitis B patients with blood stasis syndrome and the association between blood stasis syndrome and eye signs. Methods: A total of 126 patients with chronic hepatitis B were randomly divided into four groups: non-blood stasis group, and mild, moderate and severe blood stasis groups. The changes of eye signs in the four groups were tested and compared. Results: There were significant differences in scores of blood stasis and eye signs among the four groups (P<0.05 or P<0.01). The changes of eye signs in chronic hepatitis B patients with blood stasis syndrome were different with those with non-blood stasis syndrome. There were no significant differences in each item of the eye signs among the four groups (P>0.05).Conclusion: The eye signs of blood stasis syndrome are applicable, objective and convenient for diagnosing blood stasis syndrome in patients with chronic hepatitis B.

Abstract: A 44-year-old female fainted when she went to the bathroom at midnight. There was abruise over her right cheek when she regained consciousness. The patient had no headacheor neurological defects on physical examination. The computed tomographic (CT) scan ofthe brain showed a chronic subdural hematoma over the right fronto-parietal lobe 12 weeksafter the fainting episode. She took a modification of xuˇe fˇu zhú yˉu tˉang ( , XZT,House of Blood Stasis-Expelling Decoction) for moving the blood and transforming stasis.The subdural hematoma disappeared 2 months after she began taking the formula. Themechanisms of XZT to treat chronic subdural hematoma might be (1) regulating the permeabilityof hematoma capsule to prevent recurrent bleeding, and (2) promoting the microcirculationaround the hematoma to accelerate resolution of subdural collection.

Abstract: Objective: To explore the influence of granules for nourishing kidney and strengthening brain (GNKSB) on main symptoms of kidney-yin deficiency and blood stasis syndrome and the hemorrheological characteristics of brain atrophy patients. Methods: Ninety patients of brain atrophy with kidney-yin deficiency and blood stasis syndrome were randomly divided into two groups. Sixty cases in treatment group were treated with GNKSB, and the 30 cases in control group were treated with piracetam for 8 weeks. Results: The effective rate of treatment group was 73.3%, with significant difference as compared with 46.6% of the control group (P<0.01). The scores of symptom-assessment of the two groups were also significantly different (P<0.01). The mini-mental state examination of treatment group was obviously improved, and was significantly different as compared with the control group (P<0.01). The scores of Hasegawa's dementia scale and activities of daily living were increased, but without significant difference as compared with the control group. The platelet aggregation rate was improved, with significant difference as compared with the control group (P<0.05). The whole blood viscosity was also improved obviously, but without significant difference as compared with the control group. Conclusion: GNKSB is effective for kidney-yin deficiency and blood stasis syndrome of brain atrophy patients and can improve their mental state and the hemorrheological indexes.
Investigation of gene expression profiles in patients with blood stasis syndrome  [cached]

Abstract: Objective: To investigate the differential gene expression profiles in patients with blood stasis syndrome by oligonucleotide microarray technique.Methods: Sixteen patients with blood stasis syndrome were divided into patients with coronary heart disease (CAD) (n=8) and non-CAD patients (n=8) by using coronary angiography. The sex- and age-matched eight healthy persons were enrolled as control group. Venous bloods were collected for extracting RNA. Test-3 chip was first employed to examine the quality of samples. Then the samples were hybridized with Affymetrix U133 Plus 2.0 array to compare the gene expression profiles among the three groups. Gene-array scanner and gene chip operating software were applied to screen hybridization signals and analyze gene expression respectively. Based on the comparison of the three groups of samples, the differential genes related with blood stasis syndrome were analyzed by Gene Ontology (GO) and pathway, and confirmed by real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).Results: Forty-eight differential genes were found being associated with blood stasis syndrome, including 26 up-regulated genes and 22 down-regulated genes. Five of the forty-eight genes (10.4%) were related to inflammatory reaction and immune response through the GO analysis. In the pathway analysis, five of ten significant pathways were referred to inflammation and immune response. The results of real-time RT-PCR proved the accuracy of the gene chip.Conclusion: Inflammatory- and immune-related genes have a remarkable predominance in blood stasis syndrome gene expression profiles, which may explain the function of inflammation and immune response in the occurrence and development of blood stasis syndrome.
Relationship between the Gensini Score of Blood Stasis Syndrome in Coronary Heart Disease and VEGF

Abstract: This work aimed to discuss the relationship between the Gensini score of blood stasis syndrome in coronary heart disease and VEGF. 96 patients with blood stasis syndrome in coronary heart disease were dialectically divided into 48 cases of qi asthenia and blood stasis and 48 cases of intermingled phlegm and blood stasis respectively. Coronary angiography was performed and VEGF was determined. At the same time, the extent of blood stasis was assessed with the blood stasis score, and the result of coronary angiography was assessed with Gensini score system. The blood stasis score and the coronary artery stenosis in qi asthenia and blood stasis were higher than that in intermingled phlegm and blood stasis; the levels of serum VEGF and ET-1 increased with the increase of the blood stasis score and Gensini score; while the level of IGF-1 decreased with the increase of the blood stasis score and Gensini score. The results show that the coronary Gensini score is in correlation with VEGF and blood stasis score.
Correlation between blood stasis syndrome and pathological characteristics of coronary artery in patients with coronary heart disease

Abstract: Objective: To study the correlation of blood stasis syndrome or its accompanied syndromes with Gensini score in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) in stable condition.Methods: The syndrome types of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and blood stasis score in 131 CHD patients confirmed by coronary angiography were recorded. Gensini score was calculated according to the coronary pathological characteristics showed by angiography. The correlations of blood stasis syndrome and its accompanied syndromes with coronary lesion and Gensini score were analyzed.Results: Among the TCM syndrome types, blood stasis, turbid phlegm and qi deficiency were the most common syndromes, revealed in 85 patients (64.9%), 83 patients (63.4%) and 85 patients (64.9%), respectively. The coronary lesion length and Gensini score in the patients with blood stasis syndrome were much higher than those in the patients with non-blood stasis syndrome (P<0.05 or P<0.01). In the subtypes of blood stasis, the coronary lesion length and Gensini score in the patients with blood stasis accompanied by turbid phlegm syndrome were higher than those in the patients with non-blood stasis syndrome (P<0.05). And in the patients whose blood stasis syndrome score was more than 9 points, the coronary lesion length was higher than that in the patients whose blood stasis syndrome score was less than 9 points (P<0.05). Besides, with bivariate analysis, the blood stasis syndrome score showed no correlation with Gensini score (Pearson correlation coefficient was 0.104, P=0.241).Conclusion: Blood stasis syndrome is the most common TCM syndrome in CHD patients in stable condition. The blood stasis syndrome score is proportional to coronary lesion length, and reflects the severity of coronary lesion.
