Abstract: The objective of this paper is to present the various features of the educational games, Deducto and Color Deducto. With a firm belief that technology can bring about a revolution in education, these activities have been designed to help enhance the logical reasoning and analytical thinking of children. They have been developed in python with a focus on Sugar environment, OLPC XO s software paradigm. They conform to Sugar's cardinal objective of learning through reasoning, critique and experimentation. Deducto focuses on helping children learn the art of deducing logic through pattern recognition. Color Deducto, a variant of Deducto, combines pattern recognition and concepts of Munsell Color System helping children get familiar with color system concepts in a playful manner. Besides the pre-defined levels of the games, the activities empower children to design their own levels and develop games on their own.

Abstract: Logic and game theory have had a few decades of contacts by now, with the classical results of epistemic game theory as major high-lights. In this paper, we emphasize a recent new perspective toward “logical dynamics”, designing logical systems that focus on the actions that change information, preference, and other driving forces of agency. We show how this dynamic turn works out for games, drawing on some recent advances in the literature. Our key examples are the long-term dynamics of information exchange, as well as the much-discussed issue of extensive game rationality. Our paper also proposes a new broader interpretation of what is happening here. The combination of logic and game theory provides a fine-grained perspective on information and interaction dynamics, and we are witnessing the birth of something new which is not just logic, nor just game theory, but rather a Theory of Play.

Abstract: Inspired by a quantum mechanical formalism to model concepts and their disjunctions and conjunctions, we put forward in this paper a specific hypothesis. Namely that within human thought two superposed layers can be distinguished: (i) a layer given form by an underlying classical deterministic process, incorporating essentially logical thought and its indeterministic version modeled by classical probability theory; (ii) a layer given form under influence of the totality of the surrounding conceptual landscape, where the different concepts figure as individual entities rather than (logical) combinations of others, with measurable quantities such as 'typicality', 'membership', 'representativeness', 'similarity', 'applicability', 'preference' or 'utility' carrying the influences. We call the process in this second layer 'quantum conceptual thought', which is indeterministic in essence, and contains holistic aspects, but is equally well, although very differently, organized than logical thought. A substantial part of the 'quantum conceptual thought process' can be modeled by quantum mechanical probabilistic and mathematical structures. We consider examples of three specific domains of research where the effects of the presence of quantum conceptual thought and its deviations from classical logical thought have been noticed and studied, i.e. economics, decision theory, and concept theories and which provide experimental evidence for our hypothesis.

Understanding why adult participants at the World Senior Games choose a healthy diet

Abstract: Analyses are based on a cross-sectional convenience sample of 670 seniors aged 50 years and older at the 2002 World Senior Games in St. George, Utah. Data are assessed using frequencies, bivariate analysis, analysis of variance, and multiple logistic regression analysis.Fruit and vegetable consumption was significantly higher in individuals aged 70–79, in women, in those not overweight or obese, and in those with excellent overall health. Dietary fiber consumption was significantly higher in former or never smokers, current and previous alcohol drinkers, in those not overweight or obese, and in those with excellent health. The strongest motivating factors identified for adopting a healthy diet were to improve the quality of life, to increase longevity, and to prevent disease. Of intermediate importance were the need to feel a sense of control and to satisfy likes or dislikes. Least important were the desire to experience a higher level of spirituality, social reasons, and peer acceptance.Seniors who have adopted a healthy diet are more likely to have chosen that behavior because of perceived health benefits than for personal and social benefits. Overweight or obese individuals and those in poor health were less likely to be engaged in healthy eating behavior and require special attention by dieticians and public health professionals.Six of the ten leading causes of death in the United States (coronary heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, atherosclerosis, and liver disease) are associated with poor food choices and overeating [1]. The U.S. Department of Agriculture Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends consuming a varied diet that is low in fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol, as well as moderate in sodium, sugar, and alcohol for those who drink [2]. Abstract: 道德思维是人类思维活动中的重要方式和特殊样式,人的道德行为方式在很大程度上受道德思维水平支配和制约。道德思维作为伦理学研究的主要内容,随着伦理学理论形态范式的演进和嬗变,相应地发生着历时性的范式转向和共时性的理论融合。探究道德思维的逻辑关系考察、结构要素分析和理论形态演进,可以廓清道德思维从本体论到认识论再到实践论的理论主题的转换和研究方法的更新。道德思维从综合性思维到分析性思维再到反思性思维的演进历程,有助于深刻理解道德规范、道德语言和道德共识之于人类生活和社会发展的理论价值和实践意义。
Moral thought is an important way and special style in the conceptual work of human beings. To a great extent,human moral behavior is dominated and constrained by the level of moral thought. As the main content of ethical research, moral thought undergoes a diachronic paradigm shift and synchronic theory fusion with the evolution of ethical theory paradigm. By exploring the logical relationship of moral thought, structure factor analysis and form evolution, the author can clarify the topics shift in theory and update the research methods from ontology to epistemology and practice theory. The evolution process from integrated thinking to analytical thinking and reflective thinking of moral thought can help us understand deeply the theoretical value and practical significance of human life and social development influenced by moral thought, moral language and moral consensus.
