Etiologia e epidemiologia das dermatofitoses em Goiania, GO, Brasil

Abstract: dermatophytoses are superficial infections that may lead to lesions of keratinized tissues, like skin, hair and nails. a total of 6068 individuals from goiania,go, with suspected dermatophytic lesions were examined over a period of five years (1993-1997) in order to determine the incidence and etiology of dermatophytosis. material collected from different body parts was submitted to direct microscopic examination using koh, cultured in sabouraud agar and microscopically examined for colony morphology, with the identification of 1595 dermatophytes. trichophyton rubrum (37.4%), t. mentagrophytes (36.4%) and microsporum canis (16%) were the species most frequently isolated. dermatophytes were more frequently found producing lesions in the feet (30.5%), inguinal and crural regions (17,8%) and glabrous body regions (15.5%). the distribution of the different infected body sites was determined in terms of the respective etiologic agents found. better hygiene conditions and an early diagnosis are the most important tools to control and reduce the incidence of dermatophytosis in goiania, go.

Abstract: dermatophytes are a group of closely related fungi that have the capacity to invade keratinized tissue (skin, hair, and nails) of humans and animals to produce infections called dermatophytosis. in order to review the etiology and epidemiology of dermatophytosis in goiania, go, 1955 specimens with diagnostic suspicion of dermatophytic lesions, were collected from january to december, 1999, from the mycology laboratory in the institute of tropical pathology and public health, federal university of goiás. a total of 445 (22.8%) samples were positive for dermatophytes and trichophyton rubrum was the most frequently isolated species (49.4%) followed by trichophyton mentagrophytes (30.8%) and microsporum canis (12.6%). concerning the location of the lesions, the inferior limbs, feet and nails together with tinea capitis were the most frequently found clinical pattern in the majority of patients. correlation between sex, age, location of the lesions and etiologic agents is considered in the study.

Abstract: Os dermatófitos s o um grupo de fungos taxonomicamente relacionados que têm a capacidade de invadir os tecidos queratinizados (pele, pêlo e unha) dos homens e animais produzindo infec es denominadas dermatofitoses. Com o intuito de avaliar a epidemiologia e etiologia das infec es causadas por estes fungos em Goiania, GO, foram examinadas no Laboratório de Micologia do Instituto de Patologia Tropical e Saúde Pública da Universidade Federal de Goiás, de janeiro a dezembro de 1999, 1.955 amostras de indivíduos com suspeita clínica de dermatofitoses. Foram isolados 445 (22,8%) cepas de dermatófitos e identificados principalmente Trichophyton rubrum (49,4%), Trichophyton mentagrophytes (30,8%) e Microsporum canis (12,6%). Quanto à localiza o das les es, os membros inferiores, unhas dos pés e couro cabeludo foram as regi es mais acometidas. Neste estudo foram avaliados dados correlacionados a sexo, faixa etária, local das les es e agente etiológico.

Abstract: As dermatofitoses s o infec es superficiais capazes de produzir les es em tecidos queratinizados, como pele, pêlo e unhas. Foram examinados 6068 indivíduos procedentes de Goiania, com suspeita clínica de infec es fúngicas, durante 5 anos (1993-1997), verificando-se a incidência e a etiologia das dermatofitoses nos referidos pacientes. Material coletado de várias regi es corpóreas permitiu caracterizar 1595 dermatófitos em 1345 indivíduos. A identifica o dos dermatófitos realizada através de cultivo em ágar Sabouraud e microcultivo em lamina, permitiu verificar uma maior freqüência de Trichophyton rubrum (37,4%), T. mentagrophytes (36,4%) e Microsporum canis (16%). Os dermatófitos foram mais freqüentemente encontrados produzindo les es nos pés (30,5%), regi o inguino crural (17,8%) e regi o glabra do corpo (15,5%). Foi analisada a distribui o corporal das les es de dermatofitoses com os respectivos agentes etiológicos encontrados. Melhores condi es higiênicas e diagnóstico precoce da doen a s o necessários para controlar e diminuir a incidência de dermatofitoses na nossa regi o.

Abstract: Objetivamos analisar o preparo de médicos do Programa Saúde da Família(PSF) para o atendimento aos diabéticos em Goiania, identificar princípios utilizados pelos mesmos para o diagnóstico e tratamento e analisar a percep o destes profissionais acerca das dificuldades dos pacientes para ades o. Participaram 13 médicos, de seis distritossanitários de Goiania. Utilizamos questionário e entrevista gravada para coletar dados. Quanto ao preparo dos profissionais, verificou-se o predomínio de especialistas (9), o conhecimento superficial do Consenso de Diabetes (12), no último ano, n o fizeram curso para se atualizarem nesta área (13) e geralmente, n o assinam revistas científicas (8). As dificuldades de ades o por parte dos diabéticos, segundo os médicos, envolvem: dificuldades na estrutura do Sistema único de Saúde, mudan as no estilo de vida, restri es econ micas.Concluiu-se que o preparo destes profissionais ainda contrasta com o preconizado pelo PSF e evidenciam-se dificuldades para o atendimento resolutivo aos usuários. We intended to analyze the preparation of doctors of the Family HealthProgram to attend diabetics, identify the principles utilized by them to get the diagnosis and treatment and analyze the perceptions of those professional about the patients’ difficulties to the treatment compliance. Thirteen doctors of six health districts of Goiania took part in this study. We used questionnaire and taped interview for data collect. As to professional preparation, we verified predominance of specialists (nine) who had superficial knowedge of diabetes consensus (twelve) that last year had not taken any course to become up to date in the area (thirteen) in general do not subscribe scientific magazines (eight). The patient‘s difficulties of adhesion, according medical perceptions involve: difficulties at Sistema único de Saúde structure, changed in life style, economics restriction. We conclude that the outline of those professional still constrast with the preconized by Family Health Program and attested the difficulties for the resoluteness attendance to the userer.

Abstract: The use of herbs is common among the various societies. During this particular time and use theknowledge directly linked to it were ignored and even overlooked. However, this is a habit that remainedand withstood the test of time and the medical hegemony, since existence of people trading medicinalplants is commonly found from small towns to cities in Brazil and worldwide. More than a common andsimple existence of traders of medicinal plants, this existence raises questions about why, how, where,what the connections, which ensures the existence and / or resistance.To reveal the relationship thiskind of people establish with the Cerrado - biome that covers much of central Brazil - to understandtheir arrival and stay in the city, its cultural roots leads us to look like the Cerrado is perceived andrepresented by them. Thus, we propose a brief reflection on the representations in the study of medicinalplants in Goiania. These meanings and relationships established show that is possible to understandthis universe and its knowledge that currently invading the worlds urban, academic, scientific andpolitical. To do this analysis we seek a cultural geography of identifying the rooters(raizeiros), their knowledge, their views and representations on the Cerrado.

Abstract: criptosporidiosis, isosporiasis, cyclosporiasis and microsporídiosis have become common in immunocompromised patients. the diagnosis of these diseases is important, because although they produce similar clinical pictures, they have a different therapeutic approach and prognostic. seeking to evaluate the situation of the diagnosis of these parasites, the laboratories of the sus network and health centers of the district of goiania-go were mapped.
An infant oral health programme in Goiania-GO, Brazil: results after 3 years of establishment

Abstract: the objective of this study was to describe the outcomes of an infant oral health programme 3 years after implementation, a programme focused on health education for parents and caries prevention methods for children in a baby clinic. a retrospective cohort study was carried out. the setting was the infant oral health programme developed at the baby clinic of the state department of health, goiania-go, brazil. the sample comprised 100 children who entered the programme from birth to 12 months and were followed for 2 to 3 years. variables investigated were caries experience, caries risk, and children's behaviour in the dental clinic. the number of children with caries experience was 1 at the initial visit and 8 after the follow-up. there was a dramatic decrease in the number of children in the high risk group, from 51% at the initial visit to only 1% after 2 to 3 years. children's behaviour in the dental clinic was according to their psychological development. it was concluded that the infant oral health programme in goiania showed positive outcomes after 3 years of establishment. further investigations should evaluate the cost-benefit, as well as the effectiveness of the procedures used in the programme.

O diagnóstico destas doen as é importante, pois produzem quadro clínico semelhante, mas possuem manejo terapêutico e prognóstico diferente. Visando avaliar a situa o do diagnóstico destes parasitas, foram mapeados os laboratórios da rede do SUS e as unidades de saúde no município de Goiania, GO.

Abstract: objective: to assess the oral health status of the institutionalized elderly in the city of goiania in the state of goiás, brazil. method: a cross-sectional study was carried out based on the sb-2000 project undertaken by the brazilian ministry of health. the sample was formed by people aged 60 years and above (n=289), living in goiania in public and philanthropic institutions for the elderly during 2003 (n=10). conditions investigated included dental caries, use of and need for prostheses, periodontal status, and soft tissue lesions. results: the age of the elderly involved in the study ranged from 60 to 103 years. prevalence of caries and edentulousness was 100% and 69.20% respectively. the mean dmft (decayed, missing and filled teeth) totaled 30.17% and, of these, tooth extraction was the main component. nearly half (49.48%) of the sample was using prostheses and 80.28% were in need of some form of it. the most common type of prosthesis was complete denture: 45.33% of the individuals were using them in the upper and 24.57% in the lower maxilla; whilst 59.17% and 51.21% needed them in the upper and lower maxilla respectively. according to the community periodontal index (cpi), only 3 of the elderly (3.37%) had all sextants sound. the most serious condition was calculus, found in 55.06% of individuals and in 29.02% of the sextants. regarding the attachment loss index (ali), the most common condition was loss from 0 to 3mm in 37.08% of the individuals and in 24.04% of the sextants. soft tissue lesions were found in 13.49% of the elderly. conclusion: the oral health status of institutionalized elderly in goiania is poor, mainly due to the high prevalence of caries and edentulism.
